Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded at 12:38 a.m. Thursday to the area of state Route 14, Unity Township, for a report of loud explosions. Deputies patrolled the area for more than 20 minutes and did not see or hear any explosions or see any persons in the area.
— A deputy was dispatched at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday to the Columbiana County Jail, County Home Road, Center Township, to assist jail staff with a person in the custody of East Liverpool police. The deputy stood by while the person was in booking and then escorted to a cell in booking.
— An open 911 line was reported at 4:59 p.m. Wednesday at United Local Schools, state Route 9, Hanover Township. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anything.
— A man on Dyke Road, Middleton Township reported at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle was parked on his property and he did not know who the vehicle belongs to. He was advised the vehicle was not stolen and it was at his discretion if he wanted it towed from his property.
— A telecommunications harassment complaint was reported at 11:08 p.m. June 28 on Summitvile Road, Salineville.
— Winona Fire Department personnel, Whinnery Road, Butler Township, reported at 10:20 p.m. June 28 that a vehicle pulled into the fire department parking lot and was on fire, but the fire was out now. A deputy spoke with the driver, Whinnery Road, Butler Township, who said he was driving northbound when his vehicle started smoking and he pulled over. Sinsley’s Towing arrived and towed the vehicle.
— A woman on Water Street, Salineville called at 8:44 p.m. June 28 to report a possible burglary in progress at her neighbor’s residence. She heard people inside the residence and the homeowner was not home. Upon arrival, deputies checked the outside of the residence and could not find any forced entry. The homeowner arrived and let deputies check inside, with no one found.
— An East Liverpool woman at 7:18 p.m. June 28 reported her brother, who resides on Mick Road, Yellow Creek Township, had not been heard from since June 22 and he wasn’t at his residence. The report said he was located at a hospital in Mahoning County.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a person sprinting across North Ellsworth Avenue as if they were running from something. Officers found that it was a juvenile avoiding confrontation with other juveniles. The juvenile was advised to head home for the night and contact officers if anything else was needed.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he was heading back home from a local gas station after getting coffee.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers found that it was someone looking for a cat.
— Officers were advised of a reckless operator outside the department’s jurisdiction at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday. Officers sat at the city limits but did not observe the person in question.
— Officers responded to Salem West Healthcare Center at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday to document two separate incidents which had occurred. Officers collected the relevant information.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Short Street at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. Officers were advised that a man was standing outside near a vehicle threatening to break the windows out before walking off. Officers spoke with the driver of the car who advised that everything was a misunderstanding and that the man was locked out of his house and threatened to break the door, but nothing was directed toward her.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday for a reported disturbance. Officers found that the matter had been resolved prior to their arrival.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. When officers arrived, roommates were having a minor dispute over living arrangements and all sides were advised to keep their distance until they can be civil.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious object. The caller advised that she had found a large knife in the parking lot near a dumpster and wanted to turn it over to the police. Officers took the knife and disposed of it at the police department.
— Officers were notified of a possible sex offense within the city limits at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday. Information for the report was collected, and the matter will be investigated.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the area of East Pershing Street at Fair Avenue at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday for a report of wires down. Officers located the wires in question, and they were removed from the roadway and secured by the fire department.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday for a report of domestic violence. The caller advised that he and another person had a verbal argument which turned physical. Officers spoke with the other party who also advised that the verbal altercation had turned physical. Officers gathered written statements from the caller and advised them that it would be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review, and the caller advised that he was going to stay at a family member’s house for the time being.
