Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded at 1:56 p.m. on Tuesday to Creek Road in Unity Township regarding a civil matter. The deputies were unable to make contact with the party after several attempts.
— Deputies took a report at 4:56 p.m. on Tuesday from a woman who wanted it noted on file that her ex-husband came to her residence on Lower Elkton Road in Fairfield Township.
— Deputies took a report at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday from a man on Mountz Road in Hanover Township regarding an outstanding $2,000 he said was owed to him for repairing a vehicle.
— Deputies took a report of a theft that occurred on Church Hill Road in Elkrun Township at 5:56 p.m. on Tuesday.
— Deputies took a report at 6:09 p.m. on Tuesday from a man on Center Road in Knox Township who said his neighbor is causing damage to his property and landscape by mowing on it.
— Deputies took a report at 6:24 p.m. on Tuesday about an attempted scam from a woman on Hazel Run Road in Salineville who advised an unknown subject who keeps harassing phone calls and text messages demanding money.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Madison Avenue at 12:10 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that two people were standing in her front yard. Officers located one of them, who they knew to be a juvenile, and located the second, who was also a juvenile, in a nearby alley. Officers took both juveniles into custody and released the second juvenile to their father on scene, and the other was transported back to their residence and released to their guardian.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Legacy Lane at 10:34 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers observed the vehicle to be unoccupied and legally parked.
— Officers responded to the area of South Madison Avenue and East State Street at 9:33 p.m. Thursday for a reported explosion. Officers checked the area but did not locate anything unusual.
— Officers were flagged down in the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Thursday by a person to help them retrieve their kitten from underneath a porch. The kitten was okay and just didn’t want to come out and retreated back underneath the house when officers attempted to help.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 8:19 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that two people were throwing things out of a dumpster. Officers spoke with the resident and advised them to pick up what they threw.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Broadway Avenue at 7:41 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that they found hypodermic needles in the yard across from theirs. Officers secured all three needles, and they were brought back to the police department for proper disposal.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Eleventh Street at 6:15 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on an elderly man whose brother advised that he could not get in contact with him. The person advised that he was okay, and his telephone was off.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 5:32 p.m. Thursday regarding their juvenile daughter’s ex-boyfriend. She advised that her daughter broke up with them last night and he has been sending threatening messages to her and her family members. The woman asked about getting a restraining order and they were advised of how to obtain the necessary paperwork. The ex was later contacted and advised to stop contacting them.
— Gary Phillips, 19, Winona, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Elm Avenue failed to yield when entering a private lot, causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven eastbound on West State Street by Victoria Galat, 68, at 4:41 p.m. Thursday. Galat was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for suspected minor injuries.
— Officers responded to the Centennial Park Pool at 3:23 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that a person was threatening to push people into the pool. The person was already leaving when officers arrived, and everything was okay.
