Highway Patrol
–John Ziegler, of Darlington, was cited at 2:13 p.m. June 9 in Middleton Township for failure to control, after running of the left side of state Route 170 while traveling northbound and striking a tree.
— Abigail Frank, of Irondale, was cited at 4:35 p.m. June 10 in Madison Township for failing to yield the right of way, after turning left on state Route 45 into the path of a southbound Lindsey DeBlasco, of Township Road in Wellsville, and striking her vehicle.
Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies were dispatched at 6:51 p.m. Monday to Hibbetts Mill Road, Yellow Creek Township, for a domestic incident. A man said a woman had been arguing with him since he got home and his girlfriend, who lives there with him, was beginning to argue back when the woman assaulted both of them. Heather McCarthy, 51, Hibbetts Mill Road, Wellsville, was charged with two counts of domestic violence. She recently appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on the two charges, with a pretrial set for Sept. 30.
— Deputies responded to an address on state Route 14, Unity Township, after being dispatched at 11:22 a.m. Monday for a report from an Amazon delivery driver that he was being threatened by a customer. The driver was calling through a third party emergency alert company and no information was provided about the caller. The caller hung up on dispatchers twice when they were advised to pull down the road so not to be in harm’s way. Deputies arrived and the van was not on scene. No one answered the door at the residence. Deputies checked the area and did not find the van and had no contact information.
— A domestic was reported at 12:25 a.m. Sunday in the area of Buckeye Road, Madison Township. Deputies spoke with both parties upon arrival and found everything to just be verbal, with everything in good order.
— Deputies responded at 1:09 a.m. Friday to Hartley Road, Knox Township, for a neighbor dispute. The parties involved were complaining about the other neighbors coming onto their property and allowing their pets onto the other property. Deputies advised the parties to attempt to work out their differences civilly and to stay off of each other’s property if not invited or permitted. All parties agreed.
— Deputies were dispatched at 11:27 p.m. June 11 to Forbes Road, Yellow Creek Township, for a welfare check on a man believed by friends to be having a mental crisis. Deputies spoke with the man, his wife and friends. He refused any assistance medically and was advised to seek medical attention. He and his wife advised of incidents that have taken place that they believe to be concerning. Deputies were unable to validate their claims one way or the other due to lack of evidence.
Liverpool Township
— An unnamed driver was issued a citation for expired plates following a June 5 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— A unnamed female was issued a citation for driving on an expired license following a June 5 traffic stop on state Route 7. The female was told to have someone come pick her up because the vehicle was being towed.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation for driving under suspension following a June 5 traffic stop on state Route 7. The officer allowed the male to call someone to come get him and the vehicle.
— Thomas Beaver III, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and mandatory court date for driving alone on a temporary permit and no turn signal following a June 5 traffic stop on Parkway Avenue. Beaver was given a courtesy ride to his residence to make arrangements for a licensed driver to pick up the vehicle.
— One unnamed male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and cited for no driver’s license following a June 6 traffic stop on Westfield Road. The passenger was given a courtesy ride to Heights Manor and the vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation and mandatory court date for driving under suspension and expired temporary tags following a June 6 traffic stop on Parkway Avenue. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation and court date for speed following a June 6 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— A unnamed male was issued a citation for expired plates following a June 6 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— Officers filed a crash report for insurance purposes after responding to a minor vehicle crash with no injuries on Cannon Mills Road on June 6.
— An unnamed male driver who was delivering a Door Dash food order was issued citations and a mandatory court date for driving alone on a temporary license and plates that had been expired for nearly two years following a June 7 traffic stop on Parkway Avenue. He was told that due to no license, no insurance, and the expired plates, the vehicle was being towed. He asked if he could grab his child car seat from the car. The officer told him he could grab the seat and the food to finish his delivery. The male walked away from the car with the car seat but left approximately $60 worth of food he was supposed to deliver and the citation with the car.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation for speed following a June 7 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation for a stop sign violation following a June 7 traffic stop on Shadyside Avenue.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation and court date for driving under suspension following a June 8 traffic stop on Campground Road. A licensed passenger was permitted to drive the vehicle home.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation for speed following a June 8 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— An unnamed male was issued a citation for speed following a June 10 traffic stop on state Route 7.
Salem
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:58 p.m. Monday for a report of possible telecommunications harassment. Officers advised the caller of their options and what agency they would need to make the complaint with.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:26 p.m. Monday for a reported traffic stop. The person was stopped for a bicycle violation and ultimately taken into custody by the Highway Patrol for two felony warrants.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Second Street at 8:22 p.m. Monday for a report of threats. The caller advised that his juvenile son was being threatened by another juvenile riding his bike down the road. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to leave each other alone.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 4:46 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person acting strangely. Officers locate a woman sitting on a bench who advised they were fine and just using the Wi-Fi from the library.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Oak Street at 4:24 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that they have been having disputes with their neighbor and asked that they stay off their property and the neighbor had been caught on video mowing the grass then striking the caller’s garage with the mower.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Quaker Circle at 3 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. A vehicle had been left on private property, and the owner did not want to tow the vehicle until an officer ran the plate to see if it was someone local or a possible stolen vehicle. Officers checked the registration which did not return to anyone local and had not been entered as a stolen vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Wilson Street at 1:21 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. Officers were advised that the vehicle had been issued a red tag notice several days prior, and the caller advised that the vehicle had been parked in front of his house for over a week and nobody had been observed coming or going from the vehicle. Officers observed the notice to still be inside the vehicle, which was towed from the scene by Sinsley’s towing.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue at 1:07 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that the previous night a man had purchased alcohol and given it to her juvenile son. Officers spoke with the juvenile who gave the man’s name and address, and the caller wanted to file charges against the man. Officers attempted to contact the man at the address but were unable to. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:29 a.m. Monday about an ongoing issue. Officers referred them to alternative sources of assistance and advised that the ongoing issues would be documented.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 10:31 a.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that there was a homeless man sleeping on their back porch and wanted him to leave. Officers located the man and advised him that he needed to leave, and the man left without incident.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 6:05 a.m. Monday for a reported noise complaint. Officers could hear the music from outside the building and advised the person to turn the music down.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 4:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of lines down in the roadway. Due to officers being tied up on a call assisting Perry Township officers, the fire department arrived first to handle the issue, and Ohio Edison was contacted.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 3:48 a.m. Wednesday to assist Perry Township officers.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an elderly woman asking for money. The caller advised that the woman was stranded, and officers spoke with the woman, who advised that her ride had left her there, and while officers were on scene her ride returned and picked her up.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that someone had walked down the driveway of a vacant residence. Officers checked the area, but nobody was located.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a woman who allegedly made comments about wanting to harm themselves. The fire department and EMT responded to speak with the woman who voluntarily was transported by EMT.
— Officers observed two vehicles stopped at the intersection of South Cunningham Road and Butcher Road at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday and were advised of an incident which occurred outside the city. Both drivers just wanted to move on and were sent on their way.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that there were people living in a tent behind the house. Officers spoke with multiple people in the yard and a resident who advised everyone had permission to be there. Officers advised her that people can’t live in a tent behind the house and advised her to take it down and she complied without issue.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:07 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a young juvenile being left unattended. The caller advised that their father had almost hit a juvenile wearing just a diaper on his way to her house and that the child gets out of their house often but was unable to provide a house number. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any juvenile.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday for a complaint of a suspicious person. The caller advised his ring camera had caught an unknown man coming onto their porch and snap a picture of the door lock. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday for a reported theft. The caller advised that they believed someone had gotten into the residence and stolen a red metal lock box with $400 in it. While gathering information, the caller found the lock box and nothing else was needed.
— Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard at 12:20 a.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and found that the matter was verbal in nature only. Both parties separated for the night.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and found that everything was OK.
— Officers responded to the first block of Western Reserve Road at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a tree down on the roadway. Officers observed a large tree lying across the roadway. The street department was called and removed it from the roadway.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Franklin Avenue at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers cleared the debris.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious vehicle parked behind a business. Officers spoke with the driver who advised that they were just resting for a while, and that they were just passing through while traveling out west. She was advised to move her vehicle to a more public location.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. One man was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail and $140 was seized as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday for an ongoing property line issue. Both parties were advised of a resolution for the issue.
— Vincent Rosati, 34, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his southbound vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Nicholas Brewer, 21, Salem, at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. The caller advised that someone stole a check from their former residence and cashed it at a local business. All information was gathered. She was advised that the matter needed to be handled by the department where she used to live as it was in her jurisdiction.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a person was making customers feel uneasy and wanted them trespassed from the store. The caller signed a trespass form, and officers spoke with the woman notifying her of the trespass notice and she refused to sign the form.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday regarding issues in their vehicle. Officers provided them with options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 4:26 a.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that they were unable to exit a parking lot because they were blocked by another vehicle. The vehicle ended up being located prior to officers’ arrival and moved.
