— A deputy was dispatched at 8:48 p.m. May 31 to Hadley Road, Unity Township, for a welfare check on a juvenile. The report was sent to child protective services.
— A woman on Taylor Road, Middleton Township, reported at 7:16 p.m. May 31 that her neighbor was shooting and she was concerned that he wasn’t shooting in a safe manner due to past incident in December 2024. A deputy spoke to a man who said they were shooting into the ground and they were done. He said the person who was at his residence in December 2024 is no longer welcome there.
— A woman on West Main Street, Salem reported at 4:20 p.m. May 31 that her outside security camera captured someone trespassing on her property at 2:43 a.m.
— A man on Columbiana Waterford Road, Fairfield Township, called at 4:17 p.m. May 31 to request a relative be removed from his property, saying she was sitting in a vehicle at the end of his driveway. She left while a deputy was en route.
— A Youngstown woman reported at 4:18 p.m. May 31 that she’s having a custody issue with a relative in Fairfield Township who has custody of her son.
— A woman on Center Avenue, Center Township reported at 4:08 p.m. May 31 that her bank card was missing and a transaction of $800 was taken out. Her bank requested a report.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Cleveland Street at 2:09 a.m. Monday for a reported wellness check. The caller advised that her son was cutting himself with a knife, and the person in question advised that he has a lot going on mentally. The fire department and EMT arrived and transported them to Alliance Community Hospital.
— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 10:29 p.m. Sunday for a reported combative patient. When officers arrived, they were advised that everything was okay, and the man was being discharged.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 9:32 p.m. Sunday for a report of multiple people walking in and out of the residence carrying items. Officers checked the area, but nobody could be located.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:07 p.m. Sunday for a report of fraud. The caller was provided with her options.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:04 p.m. Sunday for a report of drug abuse. The caller advised that her brother was at the residence buying drugs, and that she could see the residence and the drug deal was being conducted in a vehicle parked behind either bushes or trees. Officers responded to the area but there was nothing going on and the residents denied knowing anything about the information provided.
— Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East Second Street at 5:12 p.m. Sunday for a report of a reckless vehicle last observed traveling westbound on West Second Street. Officers checked the west end of the city, but the vehicle was not located.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 4:48 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil dispute. The caller advised that he is trying to move out and obtain his property, but a woman was causing issues. The man collected his belongings and went on his way.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:42 p.m. Sunday regarding a reported custody dispute. The person advised that her sister had been watching her children but refused to give them back. Officers advised the sister that they must return the children if their mother came to retrieve them.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:16 p.m. Sunday to speak with a man regarding suspicious material he came across while browsing the internet. The man advised he had accidentally clicked a link that led him to a website advertising explicit adult content and the man was advised to stay off any websites that seemed suspicious and of the dangers of browsing unknown sources on the internet.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lundy Avenue at 3:01 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal damaging. Someone had damaged a historical stone mural along the south side of the parking lot and thrown stone debris throughout the lot. The damage was photographed for documentation.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 2:59 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that an employee of the store has been entering cheaper barcodes for more expensive items or failing to ring items up totaling $91.24. Due to the employee being a juvenile, officers requested the employee have a guardian respond to the store and explained to them that the juvenile would be issued a summons for juvenile court before releasing the juvenile to them.
— Officers took a report of a civil dispute at the police department at 11:20 a.m. Sunday. The caller advised her ex-boyfriend had a no-contact order against her for himself and his family members, but the prior evening one of the family members had approached her making unnecessary comments. The caller just wanted a report to document the incident.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 9:53 a.m. Sunday to speak with a woman regarding an eviction. The woman advised that her and her boyfriend are separating but he is refusing to leave the apartment they share. The woman was advised of the eviction process and to get in contact with her landlord.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue at 4:49 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person who advised that her boyfriend had lost his wallet and that she was just looking for it.
— Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an OVI at the police department at 2:41 a.m. Sunday.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Sharp Avenue at 2 a.m. Sunday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that a juvenile had come to his house, knocked on the door and ran. Officers located the juvenile who advised that it was him that had knocked and that he could not find his friend and did not have Wi-Fi to call them. Officers transported the juvenile to his residence due to it being past curfew and advised the juvenile’s guardians to call them if the second juvenile returned.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 1:34 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers could hear someone crying inside but when officers knocked it stopped, and nobody would open the door.
— Officers spoke to a juvenile at the police department at 12:33 a.m. Sunday who advised he did not have a ride back home to Hanoverton. Officers contacted their parents who were able to arrange for a ride home.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Pershing Street at 10:54 p.m. Saturday for a reported intoxicated person who had been escorted out of the residence because he was becoming violent. The person had already departed in a vehicle when officers arrived, and the caller advised that nobody was injured.
— Officers on patrol in the 700 block of East State Street were flagged down by a man who advised that his wife was shaking uncontrollably and not feeling right. Officers advised them to pull into a nearby parking lot, and the fire department and EMT were dispatched to assist them.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue at 10:24 p.m. Saturday for a reported traffic offense. The driver, whose name was not listed, was issued a citation for excessive smoke.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 10:45 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man who was reported to be acting strangely and yelling at passing cars. Officers checked on the man who advised he was okay.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Prospect Street at 10:44 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a juvenile. When officers arrived, they were advised that the juvenile does not live there.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:28 p.m. Saturday for a reported stolen vehicle. The caller advised that his car was parking and the parking lot and no longer was. He advised that he checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. Officers gathered information about the vehicle, and the caller filled out a theft report.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 9:04 p.m. Saturday for a report of indecent exposure where a verbal dispute took place between the caller and another man. Officers learned that the man had stopped at the residence and proceeded to urinate outside next to the garage and had engaged in a verbal dispute with the caller before entering his vehicle and leaving the city.
— Officers observed a woman having a verbal dispute with a man in the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 6:48 p.m. Saturday. Officers learned that the man was walking around a vehicle on private property because he was looking for his lost cat. The woman was unaware of this and had gotten upset and later apologized to the man after she understood the nature of the situation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 6:44 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a woman in a dark blue truck allegedly did a burnout and nearly hit their young child. Officers located the driver at her residence and admitted to doing the burnout but not nearly striking a child and apologized for her behavior.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Jennings Avenue and West Second Street at 6:24 p.m. Saturday observed two vehicles doing doughnuts in the middle of the intersection while there were pedestrians on the sidewalk in a residential area and causing a risk of serious harm to one of the pedestrians. Officers conducted a traffic stop on both vehicles and both drivers Nathan Evan, 25, Youngstown, and Andrei Cimponeriu, 25, Columbiana, were taken into custody for street racing and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Wilson Street at 6:17 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that there was a vehicle blocking a driveway. Officers spoke with the person who advised that he had lost the keys to his car and could not move the vehicle. Officers then pushed the vehicle, so it was not blocking the driveway.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 6:21 p.m. Saturday for a reported assault. The caller advised that he had yelled at a person driving recklessly who then exited their truck and began making threats before striking the caller in the face. The person in question’s residence was located but they were not home. A follow-up will be attempted during the next shift.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2900 block of East State Street at 6:05 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. An employee advised that a man had gathered several suspicious items in a cart and attempted to leave without paying and had left without the items when confronted. Officers took photos of the items and will investigate the matter further.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:28 p.m. Saturday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that several vehicles were parked in a private lot leaving no space for paying customers. Officers advised those that were still in their vehicle that they needed to move them, or they would be towed and advised the caller that since it was a private parking lot they could have the rest of the vehicles towed.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 4:15 p.m. Saturday for a reported parking complaint. Multiple vehicles were parked blocking access to a gas pump. Once officers arrived, the vehicles were moved without issue.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Pershing Street at 3:05 p.m. Saturday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that the neighbor next door had punched his screen window then spit on the window and yelled at him to turn the radio down. Officers spoke with the neighbor who admitted to doing so because the caller always plays his music loud and never turns it down, and the caller requested to file charges for criminal damaging.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 2:45 p.m. Saturday for a reported 911 hang-up call from a person who stated they could not breathe. Officers checked the area where the call came from and did not locate anyone experiencing a medical emergency.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:23 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles selling water and pop out of a cooler near the vendor stands. Officers spoke with the juveniles, determining that they were not doing anything illegal and were trying to raise money to purchase pool passes for the summer. Officers brought the juveniles back to the police department, and they were given an anonymous donation toward the purchase of their pool passes.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:03 p.m. Saturday for a reported civil matter. Officers were advised by the caller that they rented multiple items from Rent-A-Center while living with their ex-boyfriend and after separating went to return the items, but one was sold by their ex-boyfriend in April. They were advised to file a theft report with the police department but due to the caller having knowledge that the laptop was being sold, the incident does not classify as a theft. Officers advised the woman and their mother to contact an attorney.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Wilson Street at 12:08 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a man was sitting in his vehicle and constantly kept getting out. Officers found the vehicle to be legally parked and observed no suspicious activity. The man was sent on his way.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 9:57 a.m. Saturday to standby while the fire department forced entry into the apartment of a man who needed medical attention. Officers stood by while the fire department entered and the man was transported to the hospital by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Madison Avenue at 8:54 a.m. Saturday for a reported civil matter. The caller, who is a landlord, advised that a tenant is moving out of the residence and requested an officer be present. When officers arrived the tenant advised that he had never moved out and that when he returned from a trip found that the locks had been changed on his doors and his property had been removed from the apartment and placed outside and in the apartment’s garage. There had been no legal eviction notice, and the landlord was therefore advised that the resident had a legal right to access the apartment, and they provided the tenant with a key to the new lock. Due to conflicting stories from both parties, the case will be reviewed by the prosecutor’s office to determine if the matter was a civil or criminal issue and if possible, charges could result.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:38 a.m. Saturday for a reported person down who appeared to be unconscious. When officers arrived, the person in question was breathing but unresponsive. The fire department and EMT responded but were also unable to wake him despite Naloxone being administered, and the person was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 1:38 a.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that it was a dispute between the juveniles with no threats.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Fairview Court at 12:14 a.m. Saturday for a reported large fire. Officers spoke with the property owner who advised he would keep the fire low.
— Officers responded to Circle K at 12 a.m. Saturday for a report of multiple vehicles parked in their parking lot and loitering after the super cruise. When officers arrived, the vehicles in question had departed and they decided to park in the Home Depot parking lot and were advised that if the business contacted them about their presence they would have to leave.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 10:27 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic in progress. The caller advised that she and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument, but nothing physical had occurred. Officers spoke with both parties and learned that the argument had occurred over money, and they were advised that the matter was civil in nature.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and South Howard Avenue at 9:23 p.m. Friday for a report of menacing. The caller advised that the driver of a green truck had pulled a gun on him and was heading eastbound on West State Street; no other details were provided. Officers checked the area for several minutes but were unable to locate the vehicle.
