Perry Township
--Officers responded to the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive at 1:22 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person who had been trespassed attempting to break into the residence. Officers found that Jeffrey Steffel, 43, Salem, had broken through the back door and was holding it shut refusing orders. Officers were able to enter the residence where Steffel continued to refuse orders to exit and had to be escorted out of the evidence while continuing to resist and pull away from officers. Officers ultimately took Steffel into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
--Officers responded to the 1300 block of Pembrooke Drive at 12:52 a.m. Sunday for an intoxicated person to be removed. Officers were advised that the person left and filled out a trespass notice.
--Officers responded to the 500 block of Maryland Avenue at 4:57 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman who advised that she was okay and didn't need anything.
--Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 and Georgetown Road at 4:02 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
--Venkata Vadapalli, 41, Novi, Michigan, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Cunningham Road failed to yield from a stop sign striking a vehicle driven eastbound by Michael Hile, 63, Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 9:05 a.m. Saturday.
--Officers responded to the area of state Route 45 and East Pigeon Road at 11:23 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless operator. Officers spoke with the person in question, advising them of the complaint and did not observe any impairment.
--Kisha Leland, 18, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after her vehicle went over the embankment of the U.S. Route 62 dead end at 10:19 p.m. Friday.
--Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:34 p.m. Thursday for a reported intoxicated disorderly man. Officers could hear the man, Lucas Ludwig, 39, Akron, yelling at the store clerk as he stormed out of the business. He was very unstable on his feet and had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Ludwig was trespassed from the business and cited for disorderly conduct.
--Officers responded to Goshen Road Near Colonial Drive at 6:16 a.m. Thursday for a vehicle rollover. Both occupants were transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital Youngstown by EMT.
--Officers responded to the 100 block of Liberty Street at 11:21 p.m. May 27 for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the parties involved and were advised that everything was okay.
--Officers responded to a business on East Pigeon Road at 2:55 p.m. May 27 for a report of an unwanted person. Officers spoke with the manager who advised that the person was cussing while walking around the store and alarming other customers and that it was the third time this had occurred. The person was trespassed from the store and notified that if she went back, she would be arrested for trespassing.
--The fire department responded to the 1200 block of North Union Avenue at 10:23 a.m. May 27, for a report of a propane truck that was on fire. Officers blocked the roadway and stood by while the fire was extinguished.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 8:18 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. Officers found that the vehicles in question were not in violation of any parking laws and were not obstructing traffic.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:33 p.m. Sunday for a reported fight in progress. Officers spoke with the person involved, and it was determined that an argument had occurred between two juveniles and that one of the juveniles was assaulted by the other. It was also determined that one of the juveniles involved had then threatened the other with a hatchet. Officers placed a 17-year-old male into custody for assault who was subsequently released back into the custody of his mother.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 6:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile issue. When officers were available from other calls, the parent advised that she would call at a later date to have an officer speak with the juvenile.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:01 p.m. Sunday for a reported animal complaint. Officers located the vehicle in question and checked on the animal inside. Officers found the windows of the vehicle to be slightly open as well as the sunroof and determined that the animal did not appear to be in distress. The owner of the vehicle was located and advised of the complaint.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:25 p.m. Sunday for a reported theft. The caller advised that during the night someone unknown to her took several plants off the front porch of her residence without her knowledge or permission. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 1:46 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers located the involved party and after an investigation took Tomasa Larios-Alonzo, 26, Salem into custody charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest and the children involved in the incident were taken by a family member with the mother's permission due to the father's intoxication. Alonzo was transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park at 12:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of damage to a vehicle. The caller advised that someone unknown to him had damaged his vehicle while he was on the walking trail. Officers witnessed a crack on the driver's side window and some scratches on the front fenders. The caller was advised of the options for dealing with the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of East Third Street at 11:56 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised she was fine.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 4:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. Contact was made with both the man and female occupants and after it was determined that no physical violence nor threats occurred. Both parties agreed that the man would stay across the hallway with his family members until both sobered up later in the morning.
--Officers responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday for a reported burglary. The caller advised that he had gotten home from work at around 4 a.m. and found that his front door was unlocked. The caller advised that nobody else lived at the residence, but about $60 worth of miscellaneous change had been taken. The caller advised that nobody else lives in the residence nor has access to it, and that they believed that someone may have used a credit card to pry open the door. Officers advised that a report would be on file and advised him to contact the department if anything else comes up missing.
--Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding a fraudulent tax return at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that he was currently going through marital problems and that she had threatened to turn him into the IRS for making a false claim on their tax return involving dependents and that he had already amended the claim with the IRS but wanted to document this issue with the department.
--Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of East State Street at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday, citing Juan Lopez-Barrera, 30, Salem, for speeding and driving without a license.
--Officers responded to the 800 block of North Howard Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday for a reported warrant check. Officers spoke with the man in question Dylan Conway, 24, Salem, taking him into custody and transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
--Officers responded to the 400 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday for a report of someone standing on the railroad tracks. Two juveniles were located playing around the tracks and were advised to stay away from the tracks for their safety. They left and walked home.
--Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday for a reported alarm. Officers checked the building and all doors were secure.
East Liverpool
--An officer advised a male who was taking siding off a condemned home on Erie Street on May 21, that no one was allowed to be on the property or take anything from the property. The officer told the male to put everything back that he had in his cart and that if he was caught doing it again he would be charged.
--Officers checked the area of Oak and Franklin Streets on May 21 for someone reported to be causing a disturbance by repeatedly shouting "Woo-Hoo" for 15 minutes. They checked the area but found nothing.
--Officers spoke with a resident in the 100 block of Center Street on May 21, who said a male in a blue hoodie rode and electric scooter through his yard and did burnouts in his driveway, so he asked him to get off his property at which point the male in the hoodie threatened to fight him. The male asked the officers if they make contact with the male to advise him to stay off his property. The officers checked the area but did not find anyone fitting the description.
--An officer, after being notified of a baby deer in the roadway on 2nd Street on May 21, checked on the deer. A female in the area said the mother had run into a wooded area. The officer moved the deer off the road into the parking lot close to where the mother was last seen. The officer checked back on the deer later and saw the mother standing close by where the baby was lying.
--An officer was flagged down by a female on Rubicon Street on May 21 to tell him that a man she didn't know was hanging around the back of home and she wanted a report on file. The officer spoke with the female on safety precautions to take and if he comes back to take a cell phone photo of him and not to approach him.
--On May 21, the school resource officer for North Elementary assisted with a lockdown drill at the school.
--An officer responded to a private property crash at the Dresden Drive Thru on May 21. A driver told the officer that she was attempting to pull through the drive thru and struck the side of the building causing the framework to shift inward.
--Michael Gaseca (age and address not provided) was found to be at fault in a private property crash at the Orchards on Armstrong Lane on May 21. Gacesa was backing out of a parking spot and struck another vehicle causing heavy damage. Both parties exchanged insurance information at the scene.
--Officers responded to a St. Clair Avenue residence for a report of a dog at large standing a yard displaying slightly aggressive behavior on May 22. Officers made contact with the dog's owner who said she wasn't at home and for them to let the dog in the house. Officers let the dog in the residence.
--Officers searched the area of Bank Street on May 22 for a car reported to be going up and down the road revving its engine.
--Brian Specht, 36, was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant on May 22 after officers responded to a report of two men sleeping in a tent near the railroad tracks. Specht told the officers he was homeless. The officers observed in plain view a used meth pipe next to Specht's phone in the tent.
