Highway Patrol
— Laura Gessner of Selinsgrove, Pa. was cited at 6:45 a.m. May 13 in Salem Township, after failing to yield from a stop sign at state Route 45 and Salem-Grange Road and she struck a vehicle driven by Bryan Heestand, of McCracken Road in Salem.
— Katherine McClure, of Gaithesburg, Md., was cited at 1:25 a.m. May 17 in the city of Columbiana for failure to control, after running off the right side of the state Route 344 ramp on state Route 11 and striking a traffic sign.
— Andrew Byler, of Salineville Road in Salineville, was cited at 5:23 p.m. May 22 for failure to control in Butler Township, after traveling off the right side of state Route 9 while southbound and striking a pole.
— No charges have been filed yet in a single vehicle crash at 3.39 p.m. May 21 in Wayne Township. According to the investigative officer, the car has been sold twice since belonging to the registered owner, and troopers have been unable to identify the driver at the time of crash. The current owner had left the allegedly disabled red Monte Carlo parked at Highlandtown Lake, where she claims it was stolen.
— Carter Ray, of Sycamore Drive in New Waterford, was cited at 9:48 p.m. May 21 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance in Fairfield Township. Ray had struck a vehicle driven by Mason Sanders, of Salmar Drive in Salem, on Lower Elkton Road.
— Noah Harrison, of State Line Road in Negley, was cited at 2:33 a.m. May 18 for failure to control in Middleton Township, after driving off Darlington Road while northbound and striking a pole.
Sheriff’s Office
— A woman from Berlin Center reported at 3:26 p.m. Wednesday that people are putting their trash into her garbage can for pickup at a property she owns on Signal Road, Fairfield Township.
— A deputy at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday did a court-ordered standby for a man to get his belongings from a residence on Gurlea Street, Hanover Township. The man was unable to get the belongings because the woman he knows was not there.
— A woman in Arizona called at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday to request a welfare check on her mother, U.S. Route 30, Hanover Township, due to her not answering her phone all day. A deputy was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.
— A deputy was dispatched at 10:56 p.m. Tuesday to the Salineville Laundromat, East Main Street, Salineville, for multiple people walking around outside causing a disturbance. A deputy checked the area and inside the laundromat, but didn’t find anyone.
— Personnel from Dollar General, U.S. Route 30, West Township reported at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday that two males were on the property after the store closed trying to get into the store. A deputy spoke with them and learned they were door dashers and at the store for a drop off. Minerva police assisted.
— A deputy was dispatched at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday to Rochester Road, West Township for a person having a mental health crisis. EMT EMS transported the person to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital in Alliance.
— A 911 open line was reported at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday on Bower Road, West Township. A deputy spoke with the homeowner, who said everything was fine and that the number that called 911 does not belong to anyone at the residence.
— Deputies were dispatched at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday to Hillcrest Road, Yellow Creek Township, for a person making suicidal threats. Lifeteam EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital.
— A deputy at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday responded to an alarm at the Kingdom Hall, Hunters Camp Road, with a keyholder saying they had just left the building a short time before that. The deputy checked all the exterior doors and found all secure, then checked the interior with the keyholder finding all secure. The keyholder said the security system would be checked.
— A prowler was reported at 4:46 a.m. Tuesday in the area of state Route 45 in Elkrun Township. Deputies checked the immediate and surrounding properties, but didn’t find anyone.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 12:18 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot at Damascus Methodist Church, Valley Road, Butler Township, with damage to the vehicle. The owner was contacted and said his son had the vehicle and was visiting someone who lives across the street from the church. The vehicle’s wiper blades and antenna were removed and lying on the ground, with the gas cap open also.
Salem
— Officers responded to the city limits on West State Street at 9:47 p.m. Sunday for a report of a white Tesla coming into the city driving below the speed limit and giving off a suspicious odor. Officers followed the vehicle eastbound through the city and did not smell any suspicious odor, nor did they observe any traffic violations.
— Officers responded to the area of West Third Street at 7:36 p.m. Sunday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that vehicles were parked on both sides of the street, making it difficult for traffic to get through. Officers had some of the vehicles moved.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:32 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a man with no shirt was walking in the road and yelling at cars. Officers searched the area and surrounding areas and were unable to locate the person.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them to keep it down for the night.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday for a reported runaway juvenile. The juvenile was spotted on the overpass and taken home by officers.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday for a reported distraught person. Officers spoke with the person in question and another man, both of whom were covered in blood. It was advised that the woman was intoxicated and punched out a window causing a cut to her hand. The woman was also making suicidal threats toward herself and first responders and EMT were called to the scene and transported the woman for further treatment and evaluation.
— Officers took a report at the police department at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday regarding an issue which occurred on Sunday. Officers collected a statement and will follow up with the business involved to obtain video footage. The incident is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday for a report of two people involved in a fight outside a business. The caller advised that both of the people involved had already left the business. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers on patrol near the railroad crossing on Allen Road at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday stopped a vehicle for a moving violation. Officers found that the driver was found in possession of contraband and detained. The driver was issued a citation for the traffic violation with charges pending further investigation.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:01 p.m. Tuesday who advised that the business they are a manager at received a counterfeit bill. The bill was deposited on Friday, and the woman is going to review video footage and forward any pertinent information to officers.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Officers detained the person in question, who was armed and failed to inform officers when asked, and the case was turned over to the task force.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday regarding unwanted threatening messages. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers spoke with a person by phone at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that there was a man outside the business with a video camera. The caller advised that the person never entered the business, and officers advised him that nothing criminal had occurred at that time.
