Sheriff’s Office
— Suspicious activity was reported at 11:34 p.m. Saturday in the area of Y & O Road, Madison Township. A deputy checked the immediate and surrounding areas near the caller’s residence and found everything in good order.
— A man on Mattix Road, Center Township, reported at 7:35 p.m. Saturday that his father was selling the residence and he has to move out. He was advised of the eviction process.
— A woman on Winona Road, Butler Township, reported at 5:45 p.m. Saturday that she was outside on her property towards the road with her dog when a person pulled up, got out of the vehicle and took her dog. She called back and said the dog returned to the property.
— A reckless white Ford diesel truck was reported going up and down old state Route 344, Salem Township, at a high rate of speed at 10:20 p.m. Friday. A deputy checked the area, but did not find the truck.
— A woman on Black Road, Center Township, called at 9:29 p.m. Friday to report she found her cat deceased outside on her property. She said the cause of death was suspicious and she was contacting a veterinarian.
— A man in Boardman called at 6:27 p.m. Friday to request a welfare check on his mother on Eagleton Road, Salem Township, due to her not answering her phone all day. A deputy spoke with the woman, who was fine, and with the man’s father. She said she would call her son.
— A deputy returned a call at 6:16 p.m. Friday regarding animals in the area of Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township. He spoke to the person and advised them how to proceed.
— An alleged scam was reported at 5:35 p.m. Friday on Depot Road, Hanover Township.
— An animal-related issue was reported at 4:59 p.m. Friday on Adams Road, Unity Township.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Oak Street at 7:57 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they were okay and just had their phone shut off.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 7:22 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that for some time people had been harassing and bullying their daughter and had driven by her and begun yelling at her and following her while she was walking home from school that day before being picked up by her mother. Officers spoke with one of the juvenile’s mother, who was unaware of the matter, and it will be turned over to the juvenile officer.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and West State Street at 6:12 p.m. Sunday for a complaint of panhandling. Officers located a father with their family attempting to get some monetary help for gas in order to head to North Carolina. They were advised they could not use a sign but were provided with assistance in getting gas and they left the area without issue.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 6:08 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen electric scooter. Officers returned the scooter which had been collected previously from a recovered property report.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 5:04 p.m. Sunday for a report of two missing children. The children were located soon after the officers arrived.
— Bruce Behner, Salem, was cited for OVI, and driving under suspension stemming from a traffic stop in the 700 block of West State Street at 4:17 p.m. Sunday.
— Officers spoke with a juvenile at the police department at 11:08 a.m. Sunday regarding a domestic dispute at a residence in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street. After speaking with the juvenile and his guardian both were afforded ways to deal with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Homewood Avenue at 9:35 a.m. Sunday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that she was receiving unwanted messages from an unknown person. Officers advised them to block the person and ignore any future calls. Officers attempted to contact the person in question with the number provided but were unable to do so.
— Officers assisted Perry Township officers with an OVI arrest at the police department at 3:39 a.m. Sunday. Officers stood by while they conducted a breath test.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and East Pershing Street at 10:41 p.m. Saturday for a report of a group of intoxicated people attempting to leave in a vehicle. Officers spoke with the people who called for a sober driver to take them home and officers stood by until the sober driver arrived.
— Officers responded to the first block of Centennial Park at 10:06 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot after park hours. Officers spoke with a person who was sleeping in the vehicle and after he woke up it was determined that he did not hold a valid license. The person was provided with a ride to their residence and the vehicle was locked where it was legally parked.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Sharp Avenue at 9:18 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they were fine, and they were advised to contact officers if anything was needed.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 8:31 p.m. Saturday for a report of a juvenile threatening another juvenile. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to cease contact with each other and to stay away from one another and for their guardians to contact officers if needed.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 7:40 p.m. Saturday for a civil dispute. Officers advised that both parties began arguing when one half had a relative come over. Verbal threats were made between both parties who left prior to the officers’ arrival. The caller was advised to call back if needed.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Highland Avenue at 7:14 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers attempted contact at the residence but were unsuccessful. The neighbor advised that the person had several other properties and traveled and that they had not seen them in a few days.
