Sheriff’s Office

— Huron County Sheriff’s Office called at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday to request a deputy go to a residence on Speidel Road, Hanover Township and attempt to find a 17-year-old runaway from their county. A deputy spoke to the homeowner, who said he didn’t know the juvenile and he wasn’t there.

— A deputy responded at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday to Eagleton Road, Salem Township, for an alarm going off. A car was found with the alarm going off, contact was made with the owner and everything was found to be in good order.

— A welfare check was requested at 8:51 p.m. Saturday on a 16-year-old on Miller Street, Hanover Township. A deputy spoke with the teen, who was fine, and his father.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 8:12 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, with a refusal signed. Smith Township police from Mahoning County assisted.

— Deputies were dispatched at 7:25 p.m. Saturday to Francis Drive, Yellow Creek Township, for a disturbance involving a person with a firearm. Deputies spoke with multiple people and there were no issues. Wellsville police assisted.

— A woman on state Route 39, Washington Township, reported at 4:14 p.m. May 8 that a dog came onto her property and was killing her chickens, then took off. A deputy checked the area, but had no contact with the dog.

— Deputies were dispatched at 9:07 p.m. May 7 to Center Avenue, Center Township, for a welfare check, with no contact with anyone at the residence. Lisbon Police located the person at the South Market Street boat launch in Lisbon and the person was fine.

Salem

— Cheri Burke, 61, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her eastbound vehicle on Franklin Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Susan Skiba, 64, Salem, at 1:24 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:13 p.m. Friday for a reported dog at large. Officers located the dog, but it ran away, and officers contacted a possible owner of the dog who advised that they had re-homed the dog months ago and do not know who currently owns the dog.

— Officers on patrol in the area of East Pershing Street at11:06 a.m. Friday observed a woman walking who appeared to be intoxicated. Officers spoke with her, finding that she was not intoxicated and sent her on her way.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fifth Street at 8:09 a.m. Friday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that two days ago an unknown person from a lawn spraying company sprayed their yard with chemical and the company has not called back. The caller wanted a report on file.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:16 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and everything checked okay. Officers will follow up with the owner of the building at a later time.

— Eric Jordan, 47, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after at 9:56 p.m. Thursday. The owner of the vehicle responded to recover it, and the owner was advised that if the unlicensed driver continued using the vehicle they would be charged with wrongful entrustment.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 7:55 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious juvenile that frequents the area dressed in a doctor’s coat acting suspiciously. Officers advised them that since the juvenile appears after school hours the day shift would be notified to keep a watch for them.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 1:54 p.m. Monday for a report of a possibly stolen vehicle in a parking lot. The vehicle was not occupied at the time and officers checked the area for the driver but did not locate them. Officers notified the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and called for Sinsley’s Towing to respond and remove the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pershing Street at 12:50 p.m. Monday for a report of a small child in the roadway. Officers located the child behind their residence and due to a language barrier had dispatch contact an interpreter to assist officers on scene. A copy of the report will be sent to children services for review.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Madison Avenue at 11:48 a.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. Officers spoke with a family member of the owner who was made aware of the complaint, and he advised they would notify them.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 11:12 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the parties involved, determining that the matter was a verbal dispute with no physical violence reported, and advised them of how to deal with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 6:31 a.m. Monday for a noise complaint. Officers did not hear any music.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 5:24 a.m. Monday for a report of low hanging wires. Officers found them to be cable wires which were hanging low over the sidewalk with no risk of vehicles touching them.

— Officers on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 3:23 a.m. Wednesday responded to a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers observed a woman looking through the dumpster who had been reported at the location several times. The woman claimed that she had permission to be there but couldn’t confirm it and officers advised her to leave the property.

— Officers on patrol in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday came across downed lines across the roadway which became tangled on the patrol car. The lines were determined to be cable lines and removed from the cruiser.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and North Lincoln Avenue at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question. It was advised that a few minutes later that the vehicle was parked at a local business. Contact was made with the driver and after further investigation it was determined that he was not under the influence.

— Officers on patrol in the 1100 block of East State Street at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations conducting a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, Jayden Huddleston, Salem, was impaired, possessed marijuana underage and was placed into custody. The vehicle was secured, and Huddleston was transported to the police department for processing charged with OVI, driving while texting, and possession of marijuana, offered a chemical test and released to a sober relative with additional charges pending lab results.

— Officers responded to the 12000 block of state Route 165 at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday to assist Goshen Township officers. Officers were asked to stand by while occupants were removed for a search.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person at the residence with an active warrant for their arrest. Officers placed the man, Jeff Burgos, 34, Salem, under arrest, recovering contraband on their person. Officers transported them to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ash Street at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday to deliver a message to a person at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense. The person in question was placed into custody and turned over to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for transport to the Columbiana County Jail and $132 was seized as evidence.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Perry Township Police Department with an intoxicated driver. Officers spoke with the driver in question and stood by for Perry Township officers until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Oak Street at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that the person that lived behind her had been videotaping her and harassing her. Officers attempted to speak to the person in question but found that she was not home at that time.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday for a reported person to be removed. Officers found that the person in question had left prior to their arrival. The caller signed a trespass form and notified him that he was trespassed from the residence.
