Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy was dispatched at 12:51 a.m. Sunday to the homeless shelter on state Route 45, Salem Township, regarding a female causing a disturbance. Dispatch advised the female left the property and was walking northbound on state Route 45. The deputy made contact and she was given a courtesy ride back to the shelter and advised of the complaint.

— Suicidal threats were reported at 2:15 a.m. Saturday on Saltwell Road, Center Township, with the deputy advised the original caller contacted Cuyahoga County, who then contacted Lisbon police, who then transferred the call to the sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to two residents who were unaware of the complaint and advised no one with the name for the welfare check resided there.

— A prowler was reported at 12:05 a.m. Saturday on a St. Jacob-Logtown Road property in Center Township. Deputies checked the property and the area and did not find the person. The caller, though, had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody and to the county jail. The report did not list the caller’s name.

— A woman on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, reported at 10:17 p.m.

Friday that her neighbor has been harassing her for months and was standing at the property line yelling at her and filming her. She was advised how to obtain a protection order.

— A woman on Rochester Road, West Township, reported at 6:37 p.m. Friday that her neighbor’s dog was in her yard growling. A deputy spoke to the neighbor by phone who advised he will get the dog, who keeps jumping the fence.

— Loud music was reported at 4:29 p.m. Friday on Lake Point Drive, Knox Township.

— A woman on Buffalo Road, West Township requested a report at 5:22 p.m. Thursday that her neighbor’s dogs were harassing her farm animals.

— Deputies responded at 1:52 a.m. Thursday to Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, for a report of a possible prowler when the caller said the person possibly left. Deputies checked the area and found no one, then spoke with the caller who advised his vehicle alarm went off and he immediately got up and checked the vehicle and the back yard. No one was located, but he noticed his rear mud room door open and unlocked. He said he has been having several people acting odd in the area recently. The area was checked again with no one found.

— A man on Bye Road, Middleton Township, reported at 6:34 p.m. May 7 that he wanted another male to move off of his property. He was advised of the eviction process and the other male was advised to stay in his area of the property.

— A domestic dispute was reported at 4:57 p.m. May 7 on Ridge Road, West Township, with a deputy dispatched.

— A criminal damage report was taken at 4:53 p.m. May 7 at a residence on state Route 154, Elkrun Township.

— Loose cows were reported at 4:21 p.m. May 7 on a Beard Road, Unity Township property. A deputy checked the area, with no contact with any cows.

— A woman on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, called at 4:10 p.m. May 7 to request a report on file that her dog did not bite her mother, which she is claiming.

— A man on Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township, called at 3:56 p.m. May 7 to report a burglary at his residence with medication stolen.

–Deputies were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. May 7 to Bayard Road, Knox Township, for a person making suicidal threats. Homeworth Fire Department was on the scene and Sebring EMS transported the person to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.

— A breaking and entering report was taken by a deputy at 5:43 p.m. May 6 on Hull Road, Wayne Township.

Salem

— Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 1:28 a.m. Monday observed a person in Sebo Stadium after hours. Officers advised them of the stadium hours, and they left without issue.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Second Street at 8:22 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal mischief. The caller advised that several small children were inside the playground leaving trash everywhere and pulling signs off the fence. Officers observed two signs on the ground and trash scattered throughout the area. The children’s mother was present and advised that the trash needed cleaned up and that she and her children needed to leave the area.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 6:12 p.m. Sunday for a reported runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her son had left the residence southbound toward Kelly Park. Officers checked the area, locating the juvenile who refused to stop, running into the woods carrying a steak knife which his mother advises he uses to cut himself. A short time later officers found him in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue, having cut his forearm with the knife. The fire department and EMT responded, and the juvenile was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Street at 1:57 p.m. Sunday for a report of juveniles trespassing at a building. Officers located and identified the juveniles in the front yard, advising them that the property has posted to stay off and that they could be charged for trespassing. Officers checked the building and confirmed it was secure prior to departing.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 12:06 Sunday for a report of criminal trespassing. Officers were advised of two people rummaging through a dumpster and did not have permission from the owner to do so. Officers spoke with people advising them of the complaint and sent them on their way.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Prospect Street at 11:16 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic violence. Officers were directed to Kelly Park by neighbors and located two people hiding in the brush, speaking with both parties and finding nothing physical had occurred. The fire department and EMT responded to check on them and both parties, Joshua Simmons, 20, Sebring, and Jayden Underation, 18, Sebring, were taken into custody charged with underage consumption and transported them to the police department for booking prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive at 8:44 p.m. Saturday for a reported runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her daughter had left the house through her bedroom window and that she could not find her. The sheriff’s office advised that a Cunningham Road resident outside the city had found the juvenile walking through their yard. Officers advised the caller that they could go pick up her daughter.

— A juvenile responded to the police department at 8:30 p.m. Saturday who advised they were supposed to be picked up at their residence, but nobody had come. Officers spoke with a parent who advised they would come pick them up.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 2:22 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man with an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spoke with the man, and once the warrant was confirmed he was placed into custody. The man was then transported to the Columbiana County jail where he was released without incident.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:04 p.m. Saturday who wanted officers to speak with their son about the consequences of stealing. The juvenile was advised of the process of being arrested and ho w the charge could have a long-term effect later in life.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 10:28 a.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that her adult boyfriend was sending explicit photos and text messages to a female juvenile. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Perry Street at 7:33 a.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that a man was driving a vehicle with a blown-out tire and appeared to be intoxicated. The man, Kevin Sayers, 65, Salem, had walked off from the area prior to officers’ arrival and was located on South Lincoln Avenue, observing indicators of intoxication. The man admitted to just driving the vehicle and after a series of tests was placed into custody and transported to the police department where a breath sample confirmed him to be over the legal limit and charged with OVI.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:15 a.m. Saturday for a reported noise complaint. The caller advised that a neighbor was having a fire and being loud. Officers advised the neighbor of the complaint.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:10 p.m. Friday for a report of theft. They advised that a package had been removed from their front porch and provided officers with camera footage.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that she was okay and that everything was fine. Officers were advised that the apartment owner had a protection order against the person’s boyfriend, Scott Bailey,55, Salem, who was at the residence with the protected party and was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 8:55 p.m. Friday for a possible fight. Officers spoke with one of the involved parties who advised a man had shown up at his apartment and began yelling and had pulled out a knife and lunged at them. Officers advised him to contact the police department if he wanted to pursue charges.

— Officers responded to the area of East Third Street at 6:41 p.m. Friday for a report of a man and woman walking along the roadway with the man alleged to have struck the woman and been breaking things on the sidewalk. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Madison Avenue at 5:43 p.m. Friday for a reported fight in progress. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone, speaking with a resident in the area who advised that two men in separate vehicles were yelling at each other and drove off.
