Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday for a reported wanted person. Officers located the man in question, Danny Shultz, 58, Salem taking him into custody for the outstanding warrant and Shultz was transported to the Columbiana County Jail without further incident.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Depot Road at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that he believed his neighbor had taken a bowl from under the bird feeder sometime overnight. Officers spoke with the neighbor who did not take the dish and does not go on their property.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday for an object that was possibly placed in their driveway. Officers located the item which was a gardening tool that had been removed from the roadway and possibly fell from a vehicle.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street near Idaho Avenue at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious man walking on West State Street holding a knife. Officers located the man walking and found that he had an argument with an employee at a business on U.S. Route 62. The man gave officers the kitchen knife that he had for his own protection and was sent on his way.
— Officers responded to 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 6:53 p.m. Monday for a neighbor dispute with possible threats. Statements were taken and will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 12:46 a.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. The woman in question was gone prior to officers’ arrival and the caller advised that she had come over to argue several times and he didn’t want her there. Officers advised the woman to stay away from the caller.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that the person had come over to his residence and was arguing with him but had left prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Tenth Street at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress supposedly involving a knife. The caller advised their granddaughter began striking her before grabbing a knife and threatening to kill her. Officers contacted the Tobin Center and were advised that the juvenile was under the cut-off age and due to the nature and severity of the crime officers contacted a prosecutor and were given the okay to place the juvenile in custody. The juvenile was brought to the police department for processing and transported to Tobin.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 10 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that she and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument and that he had thrown a cup and struck her on the left shin. Officers took a look at the caller’s leg and found no injury. The boyfriend was already packing his things and decided to leave for the night prior to officers’ arrival.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that her granddaughter left the house, and she did not know where she was. Officers located the juvenile. The caller was contacted to pick them up.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Madison Avenue at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that the person has been staying at their residence, but she did not want them there because he had a warrant. She was advised of the procedure for properly evicting the person and that the warrant was out of the pick-up radius.
— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute between several parties. Officers spoke with several men who advised they had gotten into an argument but nothing physical occurred.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that her son was locked out of his house and the female half was not letting him back inside. The woman advised that the man was drinking and started yelling at her, and the man advised that he wanted her out of the house. He was advised that he would have to legally evict her.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they had observed a man sitting in the back of the parking lot and invited them inside for a Bible study, making obscene comments, making them uncomfortable and refusing to leave when asked. Officers advised the man he needed to leave which he did without incident.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Officers took a man into custody and transported him to the police department where he were issued a summons for soliciting prostitution and $140 in cash was seized as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a woman sitting in the parking lot. The woman advised she was fine.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that a patient at the nursing home had intentionally damaged four windows in the facility and the facility wanted to pursue charges. Due to the patient suffering from a medical condition, officers obtained a written statement from employees of the facility and the case will be sent to the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Officer for review, and photos were taken for documentation of the damaged windows.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Officers confirmed the person was fine.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 1:22 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a woman came into the store and attempted to exchange three $100 bills for $20 bills. The caller advised that they did not make the exchange and the woman left.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Twelfth Street at 9:10 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the person in question made concerning comments while at their facility. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was fine and did not need medical attention. The fire department and EMT responded and checked on them, but they refused transport.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Union Avenue at 8:39 a.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. Officers located the vehicles in question and found that they were in the process of being moved.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 2:45 a.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and everything checked okay.
— Officers responded to the area of railroad tracks on South Ellsworth Avenue at 1:38 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person allegedly threatening self-harm by running into an oncoming train. Officers found that the person in question had not done so and had no thoughts of doing so. Officers made sure they were okay and collected information.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 12:35 a.m. Thursday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with one party, advising them to leave the other alone.
— Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:56 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person needing to speak to an officer. When officers arrived the man, Andrew Conner, 36, Alliance, immediately advised that he had a glass pipe he used to smoke methamphetamine from and wanted to be taken to jail. Officers seized the pipe, and Conner was placed under arrest charged with drug paraphernalia and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that another juvenile was threatening to fight him. It was determined that both parties were calling each other threatening back and forth and both parties were advised to stop contacting one another.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday for a reported assault. The caller alleged that they were struck three times in the chest, pushed, and spat on. They denied medical attention and had no markings or indications of injury. Officers spoke with the alleged aggressor who claimed they had done no such thing and wanted to evict the alleged victim. Statements were gathered and the matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review as there was no clear indication as to what took place, and the matter is hearsay.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Sixteenth Street at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers spoke with the driver, advising them to slow down and drive safely.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Second Street at 6:26 p.m. Wednesday for a report of treats. The caller advised that a person has been threatening her daughter, and followed her to the park, and threatening her with a knife. Officers were aware of the matter, which is an ongoing issue and officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juvenile in question. The matter will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.
— Officers responded to the first block of Court Drive at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday for a reported noise complaint. Officers checked the area but there was nobody being unreasonable with the volume of music. Officers were unable to locate anyone playing unreasonable music.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a customer saw three patrons drinking alcohol in the parking lot prior to entering the store. Officers were able to contact the driver, who had not been drinking, nor was there any sign of alcohol present.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible theft. The caller advised that his neighbor had taken his Amazon package. Officers spoke with the neighbor who advised that he did have the package. Officers advised that it was not his and he had to give it back which he agreed to do.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 2:06 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the involved parties and determined that two brothers had been involved in a verbal dispute which turned physical. Officers placed Christopher Courtney, 19, Salem, and a 15-year-old juvenile in custody for domestic violence, transporting the juvenile to the Tobin Center directly from the scene, and Courtney was transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that there was a woman sitting in the park acting strangely. She advised officers that she was fine and nothing criminal was observed.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Fair Avenue at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a sign down. Officers located the sign in question and had dispatch notify the street department so they could remedy the issue.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that there was a male juvenile sitting in a field. Officers spoke with the juvenile who advised that he had missed the bus at 8 a.m. and did not want to go home. Contact was made with the school resource officer who advised them to take the juvenile to Reilly Elementary. Officers dropped off the student and were advised by school staff that the juvenile’s parents did not speak any English and a translator was contacted to let the mother know about the incident.
— Officers responded to the area of Mound Street and South Union Avenue at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday for a reported complaint. Officers located the vehicle in question and spoke with the owner by phone. The owner was advised of the complaint, and they said they would take care of the problem.
— Officers responded to the first block of Aetna Street at 2:42 a.m. Friday for a reported intoxicated person stumbling on the sidewalk. Officers spoke with the woman and gave her a courtesy transport to her residence.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:52 a.m. Friday for a reported fight. The caller advised that they had been punched in the face and had a small laceration under his left eye on top of a previous injury under the same eye. The argument was the result of money being owed to the other party. The caller advised that he believed he knew who the man was but needed to check his Facebook account. He denied any medical attention and was advised to contact the department to provide a voluntary statement on the incident at a later time due to his intoxication level if he chose to move forward with charges.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Sixth Street at 11:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported intoxicated juvenile. Officers resolved the matter for the evening, and the incident will be forwarded to the juvenile officer for further investigation.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 10:37 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person threatening to harm themselves. Officers spoke with the man who advised he was having a bad day and denied ever saying that he wanted to harm himself or having any thoughts of doing so. EMT spoke with the man who refused any treatment, and he was advised to call officers back if needed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 6:21 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Officers took the man in question, Michael Marsh, 45, Dover, into custody, locating contraband on his person during a search incident to arrest. Marsh’s vehicle was towed by Kaiser’s Towing with further charges pending BCI results.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:32 p.m. Thursday for an alleged sex offense. When officers arrived, the person involved was taken into custody and $120 was seized as evidence. The person was released with a court summons by the task force agent.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 3:27 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers located the person in question, advising them of the complaint, and they advised they were fine.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:15 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault. The caller advised that their neighbor came to his residence and advised she was assaulted by her roommate. The neighbor advised that her male roommate, Ryan Thompson, 42, Salem, had gotten upset with her, thrown her down and struck her in the back of the head and nose, and had visible injuries. While speaking with the neighbor Thompson came out onto the porch then returned inside the residence, locking the door and would not comply with commands. Prior to forcing entry into the residence, Thompson opened the door and was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
