Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies responded at 2:48 a.m. Tuesday to the 39000 block of state Route 39, Washington Township, for a report of a possible prowler. Deputies were advised by the caller that the person was no longer there. Deputies checked the premises and found no evidence of any persons on the property. The residence was secure from ground level.
— Deputies were dispatched at 1:49 a.m. May 2 to a residence on state Route 517 for a 911 call, then were told they were no longer needed. Deputies arrived and found a male and female walking down the road and a truck parked in the driveway close to the road. The caller advised he and his girlfriend had an argument when she was driving him home after he drank too much and he called 911 because she was going to take his truck. She told deputies she pulled over because he was getting sick. An argument ensued and he started to walk away and she followed him and he called 911. She had a suspended license and he was intoxicated. The truck was moved from th road and the property owner gave permission for it to be parked in the driveway until the morning. The couple received a courtesy ride home with no further incident.
Leetonia
— A tarp garage was blown from its location on Columbia Street due to high winds at 1:09 p.m. April 18.
— Leetonia schools reported that sometime before 10 a.m. April 22 that an unknown person had took several split-face concrete blocks from a skid sitting near the pump house building. Video surveillance narrowed the theft down to around 4:20 p.m. via a dark colored vehicle that exited south crossing over Butcher to Honey Lane. The officer noticed a suspect vehicle parked on Honey Lane, where a female said that she had been told that she could take them. She was unable to relay who exactly had communicated that to her. After positively identifying the blocks as the school’s property, the district maintenance man transported them back to the school. The school declined to file charges.
— Dairy Queen called at 8:01 p.m. May 5 to report they had a female choking on a nut but did not want EMS help as she was no longer choking.
— A suspicious male in a black shirt with a baseball bat was reported at 3:18 p.m. May 4 walking on Main Street. Upon contact, the “bat” was a pool cue, and the man was heading to a three-ball billiard tournament at a nearby tavern.
— Police investigated a single-vehicle accident involving a telephone pole near Front and Chestnut streets at 10:16 a.m. May 5. The pole sustained no damage when the juvenile clipped it with the passenger side front end while fiddling with the radio.
— An elderly Amtrak passenger was transported by ambulance at 5:28 p.m. May 7 from the crossing at Columbia and Hazel streets after having chest pains.
— A Cherry Fork resident complained about trucks driving too fast and waking him up due to being too loud at 5 a.m. May 3.
— A village resident reported at 2:34 p.m. April 29 that someone attempted to access his cash app account two hours earlier. Cashapp is having its fraud department look into it.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Sharp Avenue at 9:23 p.m. Monday for a reported abduction. The caller advised that his friend and their girlfriend moved into his house about a month ago and that the woman’s father and two other family members came over to pick her up. After entering the residence, the father slapped her in the face and dragged her out of the house by her hair, leaving in a tan Toyota Camry. The caller advised that he assumed they were returning to their residence in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, but wasn’t positive, very little information could be located on the involved parties nor was any information available on the vehicle. Surrounding agencies were contacted and informed of the incident and agreed to respond to the family’s residence to conduct a wellness check on the woman. Later in the shift contact was made with Pennsylvania State Police who located the woman at the residence and took her to their barrack for safety until a ride was arranged for her transportation back to Salem. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:12 p.m. Monday for a report of harassment. Officers advised the person to provide screenshots of the text message in question, but they were unable to provide any additional information at that time.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 8:04 p.m. Monday for a reported civil issue. The caller advised that their roommates caused damage to the kitchen and are eating food that doesn’t belong to them. They were advised that the matter was civil and how to begin the eviction process. The caller advised that they had already begun with eviction and requested a report be on file.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:56 p.m. Monday regarding damages to her vehicle received from her son kicking the door handle off. The damage was documented and the person wanted to pursue charges.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 6:09 p.m. Monday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised that his neighbor keeps driving in his lawn leaving ruts and making it muddy. Officers observed the damage to the yard and the no trespassing signs that the caller had posted. It was clear what vehicle was doing it due to muddy tire marks leading right at the vehicle in question. Officers attempted contact with the person, due to the caller wanting them warned about the incident. Officers did not make contact but left a tag on the door so they could contact the police department.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 5:21 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that multiple juveniles were running into the roadway and not supervised by a parent. Officers spoke with a parent, advising them of the complaint and they advised that a ball went onto the roadway and the juvenile did retrieve it while supervised.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:29 p.m. Monday for a report of menacing. Officers were advised that a couple of juveniles have been harassing their juvenile son after school hours and one of the juveniles attempted physical harm to the caller’s son while walking home from school. Officers advised that the incident would be sent to the juvenile prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 3:45 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person that had been behaving erratically. Officers spoke with the person whom they were familiar with and made numerous statements that did not make sense. First responders and EMT were requested for further evaluation, while they refused to get into an ambulance for transport, they agreed to be taken to the emergency room if they could ride in a police car. Officers transported them with an EMT employee for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 2:06 p.m. Monday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised that they have video of a woman dumping trash on their property. Officers saw the video and the woman was identified on the video as the caller’s sister. The caller wanted the woman criminally trespassed from the property.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 1:24 p.m. Monday for a report of a person down. The caller advised that woman was seen lying on the ground and it was unknown if she was breathing. Officers discovered the woman had gotten up on her own power and got into a vehicle that departed before emergency personnel arrived.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 1:17 p.m. Monday for a report of counterfeit money. Officers were advised that a man paid for gas using a fake $100 bill over the weekend and advised the manager took the money to the bank and was advised to contact the police department to make a report. Officers were able to observe video footage of the man and was able to obtain a plate from the vehicle he was a passenger in. The incident is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Howard Avenue at 8:29 a.m. Monday for a reported missing child. The caller advised that their son was missing but could hear him talking somewhere in the building. Officers checked the building and located the child hiding between the wall and one of the washing machines.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 7:57 a.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller reported yelling was heard from inside the woman’s residence. Officers spoke with the involved parties, and both denied yelling and there being any issues.
— Officers responded to the area of Short Avenue and Summit Street at 6:28 a.m. Monday for a report of a man and women walking around the apartment complex dressed in black and looking around. Officers checked the area but did not locate anybody matching the description given.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 1:05 p.m. Monday for a reported shop lifter. The caller advised that they have video of a man who had been taking items and not paying for the items over several months. Officers spoke with the man who initially denied taking the items at first, but the caller offered the man to pay for the items taken and wanted him trespassed. The man paid for the items that were taken and admitted to taking them and trespassed him from the property.
