Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies were dispatched at 6:15 a.m. April 12 to Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, for a suspicious person. Deputies spoke to the caller who reported hearing noises in and around their trailer. Deputies searched the inside of the trailer and the surrounding area. Everything appeared to be fine.
— A domestic dispute was reported at 4:17 a.m. April 12 on Lakeview Road, Hanover Township. Both parties were separated and talked to by deputies upon their arrival. The male and female said no violence or threat of violence occurred and both agreed to sleep in separate rooms for the evening. A domestic refusal was signed by both parties.
Leetonia
— An officer responded at 1:48 a.m. April 11 to the first block of Hazel Street for an unruly juvenile.
— The school resource officer was dispatched at 4:18 p.m. April 14 to the 200 block of Ridge Street for a child neglect complaint after a first grade child was left on the school bus due to no parents waiting for him at his residence. Eventually the officer spoke with the boy’s mother, who had been having vehicle trouble.
— A Columbia Street woman requested extra patrols of her neighborhood at 6:17 p.m. April 16, citing threats from an ex. The ex was verified to have an active warrant for domestic violence with a warning to approach with caution. This information was passed along to midnight shift.
— Police investigated a Facebook transaction dispute over the sale of a sewing machine at 3:08 p.m. April 9. After the buyer failed to pay for said item through CashApp as promised, she returned the item to the police who returned it to the seller after the investigation was completed.
Columbiana
— An officer responded shortly after noon April 11 to a private property crash in the 44000 block of state Route 14.
— Police took scam reports at 1:17 p.m. April 9 in the 400 block of North Middle Street and at 3:15 p.m. April 10 in the 500 block of Springfield Road.
— A custody dispute out of jurisdiction was reported at 6:06 p.m. April 9 on station. The parties were advised of the correct jurisdiction and information regarding seeking a protection order.
— Teresa Briones was issued a summons for theft around noon April 8, after an investigation at Drug Mart.
— Police responded at 8:10 a.m. April 8 to the 300 block of West Salem Street for a death investigation. There was no indication of foul play, so EMS handled transport to a funeral home.
— A neighbor dispute over a dog at large was reported at 7:07 p.m. April 7 in the first block of 7th Street.
East Palestine
— Officers responded to three unruly juveniles at the Dairy Queen on South Market Street at 2:50 p.m. on Monday.
— Officers assisted a person locked out of their residence in Park Avenue at 8:47 p.m. on Monday.
— Officers spoke to a female and her juvenile daughter regarding telecommunications harassment at 9:49 a.m. on Sunday at the station.
— Officers arrested Matthew Runkles, no age, East Palestine, and charged him with OVI, driving under suspension, fictitious plates and tampering with evidence following a traffic stop on East Martin Street at 9:59 p.m. on Sunday. Rosie Faulkner, no age or address provided, was also charged with tampering with evidence during the stop.
— Officers responded at 4:41 p.m. on Saturday to South Washington Street to a report of suspicious individuals. Officers made contact and the individuals left the area without issue.
— Officers spoke to a woman at 5:05 p.m. at the station on Friday regarding a violation of protection.
Salem
— Officers spoke with an employee from a business in the Boardman area concerning a possible scam. Officers advised the employee of their options.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 12:23 p.m. Monday for a report of reckless operation. The caller advised that due to the construction several vehicles were using the parking lot as a cut through and speeding. Officers did not observe any vehicles speeding in the parking lot.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Monday about a situation concerning property. Officers spoke with the caller and advised them that the issue was civil in nature.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 9:47 a.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. The caller was advised that there were people on their property, and they didn’t want them there. Officers advised them of the complaint and the people advised that they did not realize it was private property and that they would leave.
— Officers responded to the area of Kelly Park and Prospect Street at 8:45 a.m. Monday for a medical call. The caller advised that he was having a medical issue and was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by the fire department for medical attention.
— The school resource officer was advised by the guidance office of a student experiencing issues at home. The officer spoke with students about the issue and then went to the residence to speak with their guardian. The guardian was not home at that time and officers will attempt to contact them again later.
— Officers stopped a bicycle without lights with scrap on a makeshift trailer behind it in the area of Jennings Avenue and West Seventh Street at 2:24 a.m. Wednesday. The man advised they had collected the scrap in Perry Township past the industrial park and officers issued a verbal warning for the lights required for a bicycle.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday for a reported runaway juvenile. The juvenile was located and returned to the residence.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Third Street at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. Officers checked the area and found that all vehicles were parked legally.
