Sheriff’s Office
— Dispatch received a call at 3:56 p.m. Thursday from Alliance Police, Stark County, that a man was in the parking lot of Dollar General, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, staggering around a blue Ford Focus. While a deputy was en route, dispatch advised the man left in the vehicle and was in the city of Alliance, per their dispatch.
— Deputies were dispatched at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday to a property on Homeworth Road, Knox Township, for a person who overdosed. Homeworth Fire Department was on scene and Sebring EMS transported the person to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital in Alliance.
— Leetonia Police called at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday to request a deputy make contact with a woman on Township Line Road, Yellow Creek Township, regarding a traffic violation that occurred in the village. A deputy made contact with the woman, who was advised to contact the Leetonia Police Department.
— A woman on Rose Drive, Center Township, called at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday to report some type of disturbance at her neighbor’s, that they were fighting over clothes and money. A deputy spoke with a man who said everything was fine.
— Deputies were dispatched at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday to Westville Lake Road, Knox Township for a domestic dispute. A refusal to prosecute was signed.
— A found property report was taken at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday at Damascus Cemetery, Valley Road, Butler Township.
New Waterford
— Officers responded to the 46000 block of North State Street at 10:29 p.m. Tuesday to assist a Columbiana Fire Department ambulance crew with a medical call.
— Officers responded to the 46000 block of Waynewood Drive at 7:22 a.m. Monday in reference to a neighbor dispute that occurred the previous day. Officers spoke with both people involved to resolve the issue.
— Officers responded to the 3000 block of Silliman Street at 7:48 p.m. March 26 in reference to a noise complaint. Officers spoke with the resident in question.
— Officers responded to the 46000 block of Waynewood Drive at 3:08 p.m. March 23 in reference to a noise complaint that had occurred on March 21. Officers spoke with both people involved.
Liverpool Township
— Angelo Avery, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and mandatory court date for driving with suspended license and failure to stop after driving a rental vehicle off the roadway on Alliance Avenue on March 23. Angelo has three open suspensions for child support, OVI and non-compliance. First Class Towing towed the vehicle.
— Officers responded to a report of a male struck by a vehicle on March 24 on Campground Road. The male was treated at the hospital and the driver of the vehicle was found to not be at fault after police reviewed evidence that indicated the male ran into the roadway and grabbed onto the vehicle.
— Buster Adkins, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and mandatory court for driving under a failure to reinstate for child support suspension following a March 28 traffic stop on Lisbon Street. First Class Towing arrived at the stop at the same time as a family member who wanted to take the car. The officer let the family member take the vehicle after verifying they had a valid license and paid the towing company for their time.
St. Clair Township
— Shannon Polen, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speed following a March 22 traffic stop on East Liverpool Road.
— Officers responded to a private property crash at Tractor Supply on state Route 170 on March 22.
— Andrew Gough, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speed following a March 22 traffic stop on Y & O Road.
— An officer responded to a request from an East Liverpool officer for a K-9 unit to do an open sniff during a March 22 traffic stop on McKinnon Road.
— A suicidal male with a knife to his throat was transported to the hospital by North Star following a search for the male involving Ohioville and Midland police officers after the male’s car was found abandoned at the state line on March 22. The male was reported by his sister to the police.
— A female was given a verbal warning for no lights on following a March 22 traffic stop on Dresden Avenue.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two people walking in the roadway. Officers spoke with one adult and one juvenile who advised that they crossed the roadway but were not impeding traffic. They were advised to stay on the sidewalks.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that his daughter’s ex-boyfriend has been contacting her non-stop and that when she blocks the number, he uses a different platform to contact her. His daughter also advised that she had told him to stop contacting her, but he has not. Officers spoke with the ex, advising him to stop contacting her and that he could be charged with telecommunications harassment, and he advised that he would stop all contact.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday to take a report of an incident that occurred on March 28. Officers explained their options.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department who was experiencing a possible mental health crisis at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday. The woman was transported to the appropriate medical facility for evaluation.
— Officers checked on an individual that had been sitting in a parked vehicle in the 100 block of West State Street at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday. The individual advised that they were fine and reside with a roommate nearby but stays in his car during the day to avoid bothering his roommate.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of East Pershing Street at 3:04 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller advised that the same vehicle had been sitting in the parking lot every day for a week and felt that this was odd behavior. The officers contacted the person in the vehicle who advised that he was fine and did not observe any odd behavior.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person, who was suffering an illness, and first responders and EMT responded to check the person and signed a refusal for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday to check a pole number for Ohio Edison. Weather conditions had damaged the transformer on the pole that left the businesses in the area without power. Officers obtained the pole number and advised Ohio Edison.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday for a reported person to be removed. The person in question left prior to officers’ arrival.
East Palestine
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Market Street at 7:38 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman banging on the front door of a home. When officers arrived the woman was sitting calmly on the front porch and she advised she was trying to get her boyfriend to open the door. The woman was not a resident of the home and was advised to move along and given a warning for disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to a 100 block East Main Street apartment at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday where a resident requested her daughter be removed. Officers checked the home and found that the daughter was not there.
— A complainant reported at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday that he was a victim of an Apple Card scam in which he was attempting to find a rental home and came across one online. Upon inquiring, he was told he had to send money through Apple cards to view the property and also for the application process. Ultimately he said he was scammed out of several hundred dollars in cards.
Salem
— A Stone Castle Trail resident reported at 4:43 p.m. Saturday that his neighbor’s tree had fallen down into his yard due to storms. The resident was advised the matter is civil and to contact an attorney.
— Michael P. Souders, 37, homeless, was arrested for a protection order violation and criminal trespass after officers on patrol observed him in the 1500 block of East State Street at 3:07 p.m. Saturday and knew him to have the pending charges.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Whinnery Road at 3:01 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported her juvenile son had thrown a food container at her while she was driving. The matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:40 a.m. Saturday where a juvenile reported a person who had a protection order against him and had been trespassed from the property had come to the home and knocked on the door. The juvenile said she called her mother and her mother was on the way home. Officers obtained a statement from the juvenile and a warrant was issued for the person in question.
— Blake Kennedy Solmen, homeless, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County after officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:15 a.m. Saturday in reference to a fight.
— Kayla D. Clingerman, Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County after an officer found her in the 1000 block of East State Street at 1:03 a.m. Saturday.
— Denver Soukup, 42, West Wilson Street, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Newgarden Avenue and West Wilson Street at 12:51 a.m. Saturday.
— Scott R. Jones, 44, Alden Avenue, Alliance, was charged with criminal damaging after officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 8:05 p.m. Friday where he had used black sharpies to draw inappropriate images on the windows of a business.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 7:35 p.m. Friday in reference to an apparent dispute between two people, one of which was involved in a previous incident at the location. Accusations of both people threatening one another were made and everyone involved were told to remain civil or face charges of persistent disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 6:25 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute and found the matter to be verbal and civil since the two people involved are married. They were advised they can do whatever they want with each other’s property and the matter needs presented to an attorney.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:55 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile problem and determined it to be a dispute over a cell phone. Officers advised the juvenile the cell phone in question belongs to his mother and she can do with it as she pleased.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:44 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute. Both people involved had left before officers arrived and officers were unable to find them.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:49 p.m. Friday for a well-being check. Officers gave the resident a courtesy ride to the Salem hospital emergency room for an evaluation.
— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the 100 block of West State Street at 1:20 p.m. Friday.
— A Leetonia resident reported at 10:05 a.m. Friday that she had been in a domestic dispute with the father of her children in the 200 block of North Union Avenue. The matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 7:57 p.m. Thursday in reference to screaming coming from a red truck that had turned east onto State Street. Officers checked the area, but did not find anything.
— An officer spoke with a complainant on station at 7:09 p.m. Thursday in reference to possible drugs. The complainant said they found a bag of drugs at a residence. Officers will follow up on the matter.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 6 p.m. Thursday in reference to an assault that occurred between two residents, but neither one remembered it happened. The caller just wanted a report of the incident.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of East State Street at 5:47 p.m. Thursday in reference to a fraudulent prescription. The person in question was observed running out of the store and ran into an officer standing outside. Officers made contact with another person who was driving an awaiting vehicle. Information was gathered and the matter was turned over to the drug task force detective.
— An officer responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:43 p.m. Thursday in reference to a young juvenile not properly restrained in a car seat. The officer was unable to find the vehicle in question.
— Allen Scott Vancooney, 29, South Union Avenue, Salem, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County for a probation violation after officers observed him in the 100 block of West Fourth Street and knew him to have the warrant.
— Officers responded with the Salem Fire Department to the 300 block of East Eighth Street at 8:34 a.m. Thursday in reference to lines down and found a tree had fallen, taking down power lines with it. Ohio Edison was advised and responded to the scene. Officers stood by with the fire department until barricades were placed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:46 a.m. Thursday in reference to recycling truck that backed into a dumpster then traveled the wrong way on a one way street. Officers contacted the driver who said he did not hit anything, but picked up a dumpter to clear. The driver also said he it was too hard to turn around when he realized he was traveling the wrong way on a one way street. Officers did not observe any damage or anything unusual and let the driver off with a warning.
