Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday to the Laundry Barn, state Route 45, Center Township, for a medical call. The deputy spoke to a person who was having chest pains. Life Team EMS transported the person to East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool.
— A deputy was dispatched at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday for multiple 911 hangup calls in the area of Diamond Meats and Eats, state Route 45, Center Township. The business was closed, with all doors and windows secure.
— An anonymous caller at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday reported small children left unattended in a vehicle with no one around at the soccer field at Crestview High School, Crestview Road, Fairfield Township. A deputy checked the area, but did not have contact with any vehicle at the soccer field.
— A man on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, reported at 10:07 p.m. March 29 that his neighbor was playing loud music. Upon arrival, no loud music was heard by the responding deputy. The deputy advised the neighbor of the complaint and he was given a warning.
Highway Patrol
— No citations have been issued as of yet in conjunction with an incident in Salem Township. Bryan Cooper, of East Third St. in Salem, was southwest bound on state Route 558 when a northeast bound silver compact car traveled left of center, causing Cooper to swerve to avoid him and ditching his vehicle. The other vehicle then fled the scene.
— Jarret Lee Martin, of state Route 172 in East Rochester, was cited at 2:47 p.m. March 29 in Salem Township for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after rear ending a vehicle driven by Ella Marie Shasheen, on state Route 154 in Lisbon, while traveling on TR778.
— Shelly Baumgartner, of Homeworth Road in Alliance, was cited at 2:06 p.m. March 27 for a marked lanes violation, after going left of center when turning left from Homeworth Road onto Hartley Road and hitting a vehicle driven by John DiGenova, also of Homeworth Road in Alliance, head on.
Columbiana
— Joshua Corvino, of New Waterford, was cited at 2:40 p.m. March 29 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop near state Routes 7 and 14.
— A female victim reported at 2:49 p.m. March 27 that she was scammed out of about $250,000.
–EMS was called out at around 12:20 p.m. March 27 for a female subject that was not acting normal. Police assisted and cleared after EMS cleared due to her refusal.
–Jacob Carsey, of Columbiana, was served at 9:43 p.m. near state Route 7 and Pine Lake Road with a warrant and turned over to Liberty Township Police.
–Police consulted at 3:26 p.m. March 24 with a male subject in reference to checks he wrote in 2021.
–A female subject contacted police at 2:25 p.m. March 24 in the 200 block of Spruce Street over a custody dispute.
St. Clair Township
— Officers located Kira Dunn, age and address not provided, at Planet Fitness on March 20 and advised her that the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office was trying to serve her a protection order and they were going to stand by until someone from the sheriff’s office arrived to serve the order. The officers left once deputies arrived and served Dunn.
— Officers, after checking doors and windows due to an alarm sounding on March 20, found the building on Dresden Avenue to be secure.
— A driver was released with a verbal warning following a March 20 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue for an equipment violation.
— Officers located a vehicle that was reported for reckless driving on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road on March 21 and followed the vehicle into Calcutta, during which time the officer did not observe any traffic infractions or signs of reckless driving.
— Officers responded to a Staunton Avenue residence on March 21 to provide assistance to North Star Critical Care.
— Officers responding to an accident on March 21 on Sprucevale Road found the accident to be in the highway patrol’s jurisdiction. While troopers handled the crash, an officer stood by waiting for a male to be picked up by a cab company.
— Officers were requested by North Star dispatch to check on the crew that was on a call at a Bloomfield Avenue residence and not responding to dispatch on March 21. The officers made contact with the crew who said they were dealing with a combative patient who was possibly experiencing a drug overdose.
— Joshua Burkett, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for no operator’s license following March 21 traffic stop on state Route 170. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Angel Robertson, 43, address not provided, was found to have an active warrant and taken into custody. The vehicle was towed by Calcutta Towing.
Wellsville
— Mark Fodden, age and address not provided, was charged with felonious assault after assaulting another male in the face with a board on March 21. Witnesses told officers where Fodden lived, but he was not found at his residence.
— Officers took photos and reports after responding to a private property crash at Pizza Hut on March 23.
— Kira Dunn, age and address not provided, was cited for improper backing and given a mandatory court date at which she would be required to show proof of insurance after officers responded on March 23 to a two-vehicle collision McDonald’s.
— A female came to the station on March 26 stating that a male who had been harassing her through text messages began driving by her residence after she blocked his number. She told officers that the harassment started as a result of a verbal altercation between the two of them at the VFW on March 22, before they were told to leave. She noted the verbal altercation continued outside and that she wanted to seek a protection order against the male.
— Howard Ammon, 28, address not provided, was charged with violation of a protection order after the female who has the order against Ammon forwarded multiple texts messages from Ammon to the police department and noted she was fearful of Ammon.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday for a reported prowler. Officers checked the area but did no observe anything out of the ordinary.
— Officers on patrol in the 600 block of Cunningham Road at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver and passenger of the vehicle and K-9 Chaz responded and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle during the stop. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, and no contraband was located. Officers issued a written warning to the driver for the violation.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Brooklyn Avenue at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday for a reported noise complaint. Officers advised them to keep it down for the night.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised her son had taken his nightly dose of melatonin but was upset she would not let him keep the bottle in his room. Officers were able to calm the juvenile down and explained why it could be dangerous if he took more. He also understood that his mother makes the rules of the house, and he was going to calm down and go to bed.
— Officers on patrol in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday observed an equipment violation, conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver, Jason Sorrell, 50, Salem, who was suspended, and K-9 Chaz was deployed and indicated to the presence of narcotic odor. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, and no contraband was located, and officers issued a citation for driving under suspension.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with the caller and determined the dispute was verbal. Officers spoke with both parties involved, and the male half decided to leave for the night.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday for a hold up alarm. Officers checked the business and everything was okay.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. Officers determined the matter to be a verbal dispute and advised both parties to separate for the night.
— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Lundy Avenue for a report of a suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person and advised them to keep calm on the sidewalk.
— Officers responded to the police department at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday for a report of domestic violence. A woman advised that the father of her children threatened to punch her in the face during an argument at Buckeye Elementary. The woman completed a voluntary statement advising that he had made the threat while she was attempting to get their son into her vehicle to leave. The statement was collected, and a warrant will be issued.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday for a reported burglar alarm. Officers checked the exterior and interior of the building with nothing found.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office with locating a vehicle of a wanted person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.
— The school resource officer was advised of an issue at a student’s residence at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday. All information was gathered, and the Perry Township Police Department went to the residence to check on the well-being of the students living at the residence. The officers advised that the children appeared to be okay and that there were no signs of anything suspicious.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of East State Street at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday for a report of fraud. Officers gathered information to forward to the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday for a reported single-vehicle accident on private property. The driver was traveling through a private lot in the 300 block of West State Street when they lost control of the vehicle causing it to travel over a curb and into the side of a building causing damage to a brick wall and an emergency door. There were no reported injuries and no citations were issued, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Third Street at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. The caller’s vehicle was legally parked and unoccupied when it was struck by an unknown vehicle, damaging the front left bumper, which then fled the scene.
— Officers on patrol in the area of South Avenue and East Perry Street at 11:33 p.m. Monday located a suspicious person. Officers spoke with the man and everything checked okay.
