Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 9:41 p.m. March 24 to Y & O Road, Madison Township, regarding a protection order violation. A man had been given permission to come to the property between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. March 22, but he showed up at noon, did not take any of his property and instead took a cell phone that the protected party had just bought. The victim advised that he then began to repeatedly text and call her using that phone. A warrant was issued for his arrest for violating a protection order, a fifth-degree felony.
— A caller at 10:16 a.m. Monday reported theft from a vehicle on Meadow Wood Drive, Butler Township. A deputy responded regarding possible vehicle damage, but found no damage.
— A state Route 164, Fairfield Township resident reported at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday that a 13-year-old male was staggering in the roadway on Grafton Road, just south of state Route 558, Salem Township. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.
— A deputy was dispatched to Buck Road, Knox Township for an open 911 line at 8:46 p.m. March 29. The homeowner said his Apple Watch called 911 and everything was fine.
— A woman on Winona Road, Butler Township reported at 5:49 p.m. March 29 that she received a phone call from a male claiming to be from Ohio Edison. When she refused to answer some of the questions, the male made threats towards her. She was advised to contact customer services at Ohio Edison.
— A man on Mattix Road, Center Township, reported at 3:40 p.m. March 29 that he has a dog with no collar or tags contained on his property after the dog attacked and killed his chickens. He requested a report on file. Dispatch contacted the Columbiana County dog warden.
East Palestine
— The Ohio State Highway Patrol requested village officers make contact with an East Palestine resident who left the scene of a crash in the Rogers area on Friday. Officers talked to the subject at 4:32 a.m. and advised them to contact the state trooper investigating.
— Officers responded at 12:09 a.m. to East Street after a resident called to report someone was in the crawl space in their attic. Officers found a raccoon on the roof. While on the scene, officer noticed a considerable amount of trash and other debris outside the home and reported the address to the zoning officer.
— Officers were stopped by a business owner at 4:16 p.m. on Wednesday who advised juveniles were on the roofs of several buildings in the area.
— Officers spoke to a female at 2:56 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a fraud complaint. The female advised she applied for a job online and then unexpectedly received a check for “thousands of dollars” delivered by U.S. mail. The check was confirmed fraudulent and was not deposited. A report was taken.
— Officers arrested Dustin Andrews, no age or address provided, at 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday on a felony warrant out of Mahoning County. Sarah Graham, no age or address provided, was also arrested and charged with obstruction after allegedly telling officers Andrews was not at the residence.
— Officers arrested Eric Elliott, no age given, West Clark Street, East Palestine, and charged him with persistent disorderly conduct at 8:37 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded to the Park Avenue when Elliot’s wife reported that he allegedly would not let her leave the house earlier and when he finally did, he followed her and was yelling. Officers went to the West Clark Street to speak to Elliott and reported that he “refused to stop yelling and cursing,” leading officers to place him under arrest.
St. Clair Township
— A mother notified police on March 17 that her child’s father sent his medication, a controlled substance, to school with the child in a baggie in his bookbag. He didn’t send the prescription bottle, just seven pills in a baggie. She told police she wanted the school to be aware of that and a report filed.
— Officers conducted a welfare check on March 17 on a resident in the 49200 block of Meadowbrook Circle. Officer said they made contact with the resident who was in good spirits and good health.
— Officers contacted Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department after an unknown caller reported a fire underneath some pine trees on Maple Drive on March 17. The fire was small and contained. The resident dumped five gallon buckets of water on the fire to put it out and Fire Chief Dave McCoy explained the burn ban in effect.
— An officer responding on March 17 to a traffic stop in the area of state Route 170 checked the area for a crash but didn’t find anything after an Apple product alarm called 911 saying they believed there was a crash.
— A female called the police for a male who thought there was another male in their state Route 170 residence on March 17. The female told the male the allegations were untrue. Police came to the residence to check for the reported male, but the male told police he didn’t want his residence searched at that time.
— Officers spoke to a female parked outside a Glenn Street residence on March 17 after a male resident called and told police per CPS she wasn’t to be there. The female said she had run out of gas and her car wouldn’t start. The male offered to jump her vehicle and get her gas so she could leave.
— A female driver was issued a verbal warning for no lights on the rear of her vehicle following a March 17 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue.
— Officers responded to a car alarm that had been going off for several minutes at the corner of state Route 267 and Irish Ridge Road on March 18.
— Officers took a report for a private property crash at Dunham’s Plaza on March 19.
— A male was given a verbal warning for speed following a March 19 traffic stop on Y & O Road.
Leetonia
— Police responded at 2 p.m. March 28 to an alarm drop at the Leetonia Family Dollar store. Everything was found to be secure and in good order.
— An officer investigated a white SUV with tinted windows at 5:54 p.m. March 31 near the Greenway Trail, traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly. After trying to catch up with the vehicle, the officer followed the vehicle to the entrance ramp on state Route 344 and lost the visual near Cunningham Road.
— Leetonia police assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a verbal domestic at 2:51 a.m. March 30. The female party Sue Ann LeCiere, of state Route 164, was taken into custody for a undisclosed warrant.
— A female subject in the 300 block of Pearl Street alleged at 1:37 p.m. March 27 being a victim of identity theft, stating that a male known to her is stealing from her by using different accounts to obtain cash advances. She estimates that he stolen close to $1,000 as well as stole her stove and replaced it with an old stove from his parents. She also alleges that he stole a 2008 Nissan Versa and has been abusing alcohol and crack with a friend.
— Police investigated a suspicious person at 12:23 a.m. March 27 in the first block of Wilson, finding nothing.
— A Leetonia woman reported at 5:57 p.m. March 28 that her disabled juvenile son was at Wick Park, when another juvenile boy pulled a knife on him.
— Leetonia police investigated a possible suicidal female at 6:19 p.m. March 26 via the Ohio School Safety Tipline from a student at another district.
— A male Oak Street resident reported at 9:24 p.m. that his father was caught up in a “romance fraud” via social media.
Highway Patrol
— Jacob Andrews, of state Route 170 in East Palestine, was cited at 9:09 p.m. March 19 for the marked lanes violation in Fairfield Township. Andrews went off the right side of state Route 46 while eastbound and struck a mailbox, culvert and yard.
— J’mon Brown Wells, of the Alliance Police Department, was cited at 7:01 p.m. March 22 in Perry Township. Wells, who was eastbound on state Route 14 in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle with the department’s barely marked traffic car with sirens and lights on failed to yield to a red light, entering the intersection and was struck by James Weaver, of Canton.
— Lowell Fisher, of state Route 7 in New Waterford, was cited at 4:23 p.m. March 25 in Fairfield Township for secure load, after his vehicle dropped a wood plank on the vehicle of Thomas Beer, of Plymouth Place in Hanoverton, when he attempted to pass him on state Route 7.
