Sheriff’s Office
— A man on Center Avenue, Center Township, reported at 8:59 p.m. Thursday that his neighbor/landlord keeps taking his trash out of the trash, goes through it and separates it before putting it back in the trash. He stated he feels violated.
— A couple from Toronto who own a residence and property on Votaw Drive, Hanover Township, reported at 8:26 p.m. Thursday that their neighbor is having a dispute with them over the property line and one of their trees that is hanging over on his property. They said he left an unpleasant letter on one of their vehicles on Thursday. They were advised how to obtain a protection order and to contact an attorney.
— Deputies were dispatched at 5:43 p.m. Thursday to Ted Williams Enterprises, state Route 45, Salem Township, for a person sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle slumped over the wheel. Winona and Leetonia EMS arrived and Winona checked out the person who was having some type of medical issue. A family member then came and picked up the person.
— Suspicious vehicles and persons were reported at 12:52 a.m. Thursday in a field off of Rochester Road near Mountz Road. Deputies did not locate any vehicles or persons in any fields from state Route 172 to North Georgetown.
— A deputy on patrol at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday came upon a vehicle partially in the road on state Route 170 near St. Clair Avenue in Calcutta. Contact was made with the occupants who advised of a domestic dispute that occurred at Sheetz that they left. However they said they needed to pull over due to the driver being upset. St. Clair Township Police arrived and handled the situation. The people were all checked for warrants and released.
— A woman from Missouri requested a report at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, per her attorney, that her ex-husband, who lives in Hanover Township, signed both of their names on a document in July 2024 in front of a notary from Perry Township.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 11:12 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that they believe the person in question was on drugs and when officers arrived, they found the man to be under the influence of something. After speaking with the man officers were able to identify that he had used cocaine earlier in the morning, and the man advised that he was willing to go to the hospital to be evaluated. EMT responded and transported the man to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded with the fire department and EMT to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 11:54 p.m. Friday for a possible overdose. EMT transported the man to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to reports of shooting in the 200 block of West Pidgeon Road at 8:50 p.m. Friday. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the issue.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 8:10 p.m. Friday for complaints of loud screaming. Officers spoke with a resident who advised that he had been yelling but nobody else was home. Officers were given permission to check the property but were unable to locate any other parties at that time.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of West State Street at 5:48 p.m. Friday for a report of an unresponsive 65-year-old man. Officers found the man with no signs of life and contacted the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office who cleared EMT to transport. Officers found nothing suspicious and stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 9:15 a.m. Friday for a report of property damage. The caller advised that she observed a postal worker striker her mailbox with the postal vehicle damaging the mailbox and post.
— Officers on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 62 and state Route 45 at 12:27 a.m. March 19 located a single vehicle accident. Officers found a vehicle with disabling damage to its front whose driver had already left the scene. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 12:30 p.m. March 18 for a wellness check. The caller advised that she was speaking with the resident and could hear the girlfriend yelling about a drug dealer. Officers found the children to be fine and spoke with neighbors and the complex manager. Officers found that the man had run from his apartment to a neighboring one wanting to use their phone while wearing his boxers and a T-shirt and pushed past the resident at the door. After using the phone, he was walked back to his apartment, but officers could not find him there. Officers were unable to locate the man but spoke with him by phone and advised him to return or he would face charges.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Penn Avenue at 4:11 a.m. Thursday for a report of an apartment flooding. The caller was able to get the water turned off and was advised to contact his landlord in the morning.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 12:08 a.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that her juvenile daughter has received two texts through social media from two other juveniles threatening to stab her. One of the messages was received sometime in the middle of March and the other earlier that night and snapshots of the threats were provided by the caller. Both were in the middle of a back-and-forth conversation between the juveniles and her daughter, and it was determined that it was a continuation of a prior incident in the 400 block of North Ellsworth Avenue during which all parties were told to stop all contact, and it had apparently begun again. The caller was advised that a report would be filed with the juvenile officer and was asked to email the snapshots, and it was explained to her daughter that she needed to block all contact and not respond to any further texts, keeping the contact one-sided. Contact will be made with the other juveniles.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 11 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers checked the area and found nothing out of the ordinary.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fifth Street at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle parked at a closed business and a man in dark clothing walking away from the vehicle. Officers located the owner of the vehicle who advised that he was visiting someone in the area and didn’t know where to park so he parked there. Everything checked okay and the man was sent on his way.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area and located the vehicle in question in the 200 block of East Second Street. Officers spoke with the driver, advising him of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Pershing Street at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were okay and did not want any help.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mound Street at the school resource officer’s request at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday to attempt to contact a resident about one of their children. Officers were unable to contact them at the residence but did contact them by phone and advised them of the problem.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for a criminal trespass report. The caller advised that a person had been in her yard, and she wanted him trespassed and completed the trespass form.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday for a criminal trespass report. The person in question had previously been trespassed from the property and was also violating a post-conviction no contact order. Officers will issue a warrant as soon as possible for the violation and advised the court of the probation violation.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke to the parents who advised that the juvenile was in school.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal damage. The caller advised that sometime in the last week a person threw a rock through her front porch window, and that they were unsure who may have caused the damage.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Arch Street at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were okay.
