Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies were dispatched at 6:20 p.m. March 15 to Hillcrest Road, Yellow Creek Township, for a domestic between two people. The male allegedly made multiple gestures like he was going to punch the woman and acting like he was going to burn her face with a cigarette. She wanted him to go to the hospital for an evaluation, but the criteria wasn’t sufficient to send him per Ohio Revised Code. She then asked that he be charged with domestic threats, but later refused to complete a voluntary statement. Robert Altamirano, 35, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, was charged with domestic violence.

— A deputy was dispatched at 6:03 p.m. Saturday to Hartley Road, Butler Township, for a male who fell off of a ladder. Damascus EMS transported him to Aultman Hospital, Canton.

— A possible prowler was reported at 4:04 a.m. Saturday on Malone Road, Washington Township, then the callers reported a power pole was down next to their home. When a deputy arrived, the callers said they thought they had heard a prowler, but it appeared the pole had fallen and that was the noise they heard. The area was checked for any other activity. The deputy found the pole appeared to have rotted and fallen over.

— Deputies responded at 2:06 a.m. Saturday to an address on Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township, for a complaint of suspicious activity on an email account. Deputies spoke with the person who was concerned about emails he was receiving on an account that was not his. He was told to send the emails to the deputy for further inspection. It was determined the emails were from several years ago when the person and another subject had been speaking to one another.

Leetonia

— An alarm drop was received at 7:37 a.m. March 19 from the Leetonia Italian American Club. All doors were found secure with nothing out of place.

— Police responded at 12:17 p.m. March 19 to the 100 block of High Street in response to a suicidal male suffering from hallucinations. He was transported to the hospital.

— An officer was dispatched to backup an unresponsive Washingtonville police officer at11:06 a.m. March 20 in the 400 block of Washington Street. Upon contact with the officer, who was sitting in his car, it was theorized it must have been a location problem with his radio.

— Officers responded at 2:45 a.m. March 19 to th 300 block of Pearl Street for a verbal domestic. As a result of the interaction with officers, the female half was transported to the hospital for assistance with her mental health by ambulance.

— Police investigated a private property crash at 3:42 p.m. March 19 in the 400 block of Columbia Street.

— The following day, officers responded at 3:02 p.m. March 20 again to the 400 block of Columbia Street, where a driver suffered a seizure in the drive-thru for Leetonia Market, causing him to accelerate his vehicle and crash into a tree and a parked vehicle. He was briefly unresponsive and transported to the hospital.

— A Kensington resident contacted Leetonia police shortly after noon March 21 to report her boyfriend, who is employed at Pennex within Leetonia jurisdiction, took her vehicle from Kensington and parked it in Lisbon. She requested an officer to go to Pennex and retrieve her keys and the vehicle title. An officer did as ask and he denied having the title but turned over the keys, which then were given to the original complainant on station.

St. Clair Township

— Paul Starkey (age and address not provided) was issued a citation for impeding the flow of traffic following a March 10 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road in front of the Wash-Rite Car Wash.

— An officer transported a male who he saw walking along the side of state Route 170 on March 10 to his residence due to his need to take his depression medication by a certain time. The officer stopped to ask the male if he was okay and the male whom the police have dealt with before for mental incidents asked the officer for a ride so he could get his medication in time.

— Officers checked but did not locate the unknown female reported to be slumped over the steering wheel of a gold sedan on Duke Road on March 10.

— Officers did not locate a white Eclipse reported on March 10 to be driving all over the roadway.

— Officers checked Skyview Manor on March 10 for a water line break reported by an unknown caller and found no water breaks but did find a fire hydrant around the corner on Parkway Avenue in Liverpool Township’s jurisdiction with a hose hooked to with water running into a ditch. Officers advised Liverpool Township.

— A male filed a report with the officer who responded to a call from him at Tractor Supply where he reported his wallet lost or stolen. He said it was after he left the store that he couldn’t find it.

— A female driver who was reported by a Columbiana County Drug Task Force officer to be driving all over the road and almost crashing several times was given a warning after officers talked to her following a March 10 traffic stop on state Route 11.

— Officers spoke to a couple on March 10 after responding to a report of a fight between a male and female at Planet Fitness. The male said he was leaving and the female said she was staying in her vehicle. Officers noted this is an ongoing situation with these two.

— Officers helped a female who was at a Maple Drive residence, secure entry points to the residence after checking that the house was clear of anybody on March 10. The female called the officers after observing the back door to the house open. Officers noted the house had been ransacked and the entire residence destroyed.

— After receiving a call that a male with outstanding warrants was inside Walmart on March 10, officers arrived and searched the store. They located the person reported and circled in on him. The male said he was not the person with warrants, but that person’s brother. The officers checked the photos of the two men and verified the one they had was not the brother with the warrants and released him.

— A vehicle making a turn out of the H&R Parking lot into the Sheetz on St. Clair Avenue on March 10 did not turn wide enough and stuck the guard rail with the middle/back passenger side of the vehicle causing damage to the vehicle but not to the guard rail. An officer collected the driver’s information for a private property crash report.

— A driver called to report a gray Honda Civic was following then on St. Clair Avenue on March 10 and was attempting to cause the driver to drive off the roadway and crash. Officers went quickly to the area but were not able to make contact with the caller or the Honda. No other information was provided by the caller.

— Officers checked the area of McCoy Avenue for a reported fight on March 11, but found no one fighting.

— A driver was given a verbal warning for equipment malfunction following a March 12 traffic stop on McGuffy Drive.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:09 a.m. Monday for a reported burglary in progress. Officers checked around the exterior of the residence finding nothing abnormal and nobody was found inside or outside the residence.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Sunday for a reported prowler. Officers checked the area, and everything appeared to be normal.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Westview Avenue at 7:02 p.m. Sunday to attempt to locate a woman with an active warrant. Officers were unable to contact them.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 7:02 p.m. Sunday for a warrant check. Officers were unable to contact the person in question.

— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 4:49 a.m. Sunday for a reported unknown issue. A woman wanted to give officers contraband from her residence and advised that she wanted medical attention. The woman was transported to the Salem hospital.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:05 a.m. Sunday for a reported criminal trespass complaint. The caller advised that a man and woman were refusing to leave the bar after the staff asked them to leave several times. The bar staff advised the man was in the women’s restroom while the woman continued arguing with the bartender. Officers identified both and issued them with trespass notices and made it clear that if they returned to the business they would be arrested. Officers stood by until they were picked up.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 1:07 a.m. Sunday for a reported medical problem. Officers secured the scene and stood by while the fire department treated the patient.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:46 p.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with a man who advised that seven other people attempted to fight him and had left prior to officers’ arrival. The man advised he would get the other people’s names and come to the police department at a later date and the matter is under investigation. While officers were on scene another man, Gregory Curtis, 26, Salem, was intoxicated with an open container in public and was refusing to identify themselves to officers, and after being briefly detained and identified was cited for disorderly conduct.

— Officers on patrol in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Aetna Street at 10:11 p.m. Saturday conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. During the stop the vehicle was slow to stop and the driver, Cletis Monroy, 41, Salem, was observed reaching around his right side. K-9 Chaz was deployed during the stop and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. Monroy was cited for traffic control device.

— Officers on patrol in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Aetna Street at 8:32 p.m. Saturday observed a man looking into an Ohio Edison truck. Officers spoke with the man and sent him on his way.

— Officers assisted the Alliance Police Department with a pursuit that briefly entered the city and left in the area of state Route 14 and state Route 165 at 6:44 p.m. Saturday.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Fairview Court at 2:29 p.m. for a civil standby. The caller advised his girlfriend was voluntarily moving out of the residence due to an incident that night prior and they would like a police presence. The girlfriend gathered her belongings without an issue and prior to officers’ departure both the caller and the girlfriend were trespassed from the residence.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fourth Street at 10:37 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that she and the other party had been in a verbal altercation, and he had taken their children with him when he left, and she wanted them back. Officers spoke with the man and advised that due to them not being married and no court paperwork the children would have to return to their mother. They advised they understood, and the children were returned.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Adams Avenue at 10:27 a.m. Saturday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised of dogs barking excessively but did not hear dogs barking in the area. Officers spoke with the owner of the dogs, informing them of the complaint.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Benton Road at 5:43 a.m. Saturday for a reported dispute. The caller advised there were two people yelling outside. Officers found the involved parties were a boyfriend and girlfriend arguing over relationship issues, and both advised that nothing physical had occurred. The male half gathered his belongings and left the area.

— Officers on patrol in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:12 a.m. Saturday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and were given consent to search the vehicle and no contraband was located. Officers gave the driver a verbal warning for the traffic violation.
