Sheriff’s Office

— A man on Cream Ridge Road, Elkrun Township reported at 10:09 p.m. Saturday that his residence was entered and multiple items were taken from inside.

— A juvenile-related report was taken at 5:42 p.m. Friday on Sixteen School Road, Yellow Creek Township, and sent to Child Protective Services and Columbiana County Juvenile Court for possible charges.

— A woman from St. Clair Township reported at 10:54 p.m. Thursday that she owns a residence and property on Hammond School Road, Madison Township, and her surveillance camera picked up an unknown person trespassing on her property.

— A deputy was dispatched at 5:12 p.m. Thursday to Hilltop Drive, Center Township, for an injured dog that may have been shot in the leg. The Columbiana County Dog Warden arrived and the dog was transported to the dog pound.

— A woman on South Lane Drive, Hanover Township, reported at 3:28 p.m. Thursday that her husband told her he was having the deed of their residence put into his name only. She was advised to contact an attorney.

— Deputies responded to an alarm at a property on Signal Road, Fairfield Township, at 1:52 a.m. Thursday. Deputies were checking the premises and the garage door opened and a female identified herself. Deputies had dispatch check with the key holder to confirm the female was allowed to be there. The key holder said she was allowed to be there for now, however advised the location is not a residence. The female was advised and deputies left.

— A custody issue was reported at 3:54 p.m. Feb. 28, with the person advised how to proceed. An address in Elkrun Township was on the report.

Leetonia

— An officer was unable to locate a barking dog at 7:07 p.m. in the 200 block of Ridge Street.

— Kerlin Teresa Colon Martinez, no address provided, was cited at 3:58 p.m. March 6 in the 700 block of Columbia Street for operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and passing a stopped school bus. Repeated attempts to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in regards to Martinez, who could not provide valid documentation, were unsuccessful, so she was taken back to station to wait for a ride.

— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:07 p.m. in the parking area of the Greenway Trail Head on Old State Route 344. Eventually, the vehicle’s occupants (individuals from a family ministry) returned and checked out, so officers cleared.

— Police responded to a multi vehicle crash at 4:39 p.m. March 9 in the 300 block of Columbia Street. A white Chevy Blazer crashed into various unoccupied parked vehicles on the shoulder of the road, specifically a Kia Forte and Chevy HHR, forcing the HHR into a white Buick Enclave. Thomas Castilloux, no address provided, the driver of the Blazer, was arrested for OVI and failure to control. Castilloux, who was unable to keep awake long enough to do field sobriety tests, was attempting to refuse treatment by EMS at the scene, when they had to administer him Narcan as he had just overdoses. Castilloux was cooperative when transported to Salem Hospital, where he agreed to provide a urine sample.

— An officer went to a residence at 2:22 p.m. March 8 in the 500 block of Columbia Street to check on a female caller until an ambulance arrived.

Salem

— David Saunders, 47, Canton, was charged with drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension after officers found him in possession of a glass pipe with residue while they were assisting the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the 100 block of West State Street at 7:42 p.m. Thursday.

— Sierra Mae Harris, Alliance, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on East State Street near Rose Avenue at 4:46 p.m. Thursday in which she was traveling west and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by George Taylor, East Palestine, who was stopped for traffic. No injuries were reported.

— Mark Edie, 65, Sebring, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 900 block of East State Street at 4:46 p.m. Thursday in which he was traveling east and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Mark Sutherin, 67, Columbiana, who had stopped for traffic. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 6:52 p.m. Sunday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised two men in a black vehicle were seen dropping two bags of trash in the apartment dumpster, and after speaking with a neighbor a possible identity was provided though there is no video proof nor positive identification for either man. No known address was provided for the possible person and the last known address in the system for them is not valid.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East State Street at 6:17 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties involved to collect information and neither party was injured or wanted to pursue charges as the most sever event that had occurred was a possible shoving match. Both parties separated for the night and a verbal warning was given to one of the people for public intoxication.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 5:34 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possible stolen vehicle. Officers recovered a stolen motorcycle during a consent search of a garage.

— Officers spoke with a suspicious person in the 100 block of West State Street at 2:11 p.m. Sunday. Officers found nothing criminal occurring.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 1:47 p.m. Sunday for a report of unauthorized use of a payment card. Officers took the report and will forward it to OIU for further investigation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Eighth Street at 7:46 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers were advised the person in question had left Mercy Health Boardman and was possibly still intoxicated. Officers were unable to speak with them.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 4:56 a.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. Officers resolved the matter.

— Officers in the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:37 a.m. Sunday located a group of juveniles walking around past curfew. Officers spoke with the juveniles, returned them to their residence for the night, and advised their parents of the matter.

— Officers assisted Perry Township officers with a reported domestic in progress in the 200 block of Idaho Avenue at 11:31 p.m. Saturday. Officers checked on the people in question, and officers then stood by until they were no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers with a motor vehicle accident. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 8:05 p.m. Saturday for a reported animal complaint. Officers checked the animals that were in a trailer and everything checked okay.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:08 p.m. Saturday for a report of an unknown problem. Officers spoke with the parties involved and found that the matter was just a juvenile playing with a cell phone.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 12:03 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that there was a woman wandering around the apartment complex. Officers located the woman who advised they were looking for their friend’s apartment.

— Officers on patrol in the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:01 a.m. Saturday observed a woman known to be suspended driving a vehicle eastbound on East State Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, confirming the driver, Mary Kiehl, 40, Leetonia, was suspended and issued a citation for failure to reinstate. The vehicle was towed by Kaiser Towing.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 9:16 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a vehicle had been in the lot for an extended amount of time with a woman sitting in the driver’s seat. Contact was made and the driver advised she was on the phone and lost track of time.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Fairview Court at 1:36 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check which turned into a dead on arrival. Officers notified the fire department and medical to enter the home when they arrived, where the person in question was found deceased. Officers collected information and attempted several times to notify the next of kin but were unable to contact anyone, but voicemails were left so contact could be made in the morning.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 11:52 p.m. Friday for a reported civil matter. Officers collected information about the matter and had medical respond to the scene to evaluate a juvenile who was injured due to a fall through the floorboards which were not safe, and officers collected information so the matter could be pursued civilly.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Fairview Avenue at 10:29 p.m. Friday to check for a person with an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Adult Parole. Officers located the man, John Wolfe Jr., 42, East Rochester, and confirmed the warrant. The man was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East School Street at 4:34 p.m. Friday for a report of possible dogs at large. Officers spoke with the homeowners advising them of the complaint and they advised that the dogs were theirs and had been on leads while outside. The dogs were already inside the house when officers arrived.
