— Sean Criswell, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed and a verbal warning for a tinted license plate cover following a Feb. 22 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— Adam Strapazzon, age and address not provided, was arrested on outstanding warrants after an officer observed a car with two small children and no adult in it at the Qwik King on Lisbon Street on Feb. 22. The officer was checking on the children when Strapazzon returned to the car. He told officers, when they asked him why he thought it was all right to leave two little kids alone in the car, that he didn’t want the hassle of getting them out just to go buy milk and gas. After checking Strapazzon’s identification the warrants were discovered. The officer contacted the registered owner of the car and picked her up to get the car.
— Brittney Giogini, age and addressed not provided, was issued a citation and court date following a Feb. 22 traffic stop on state Route 7 for speed.
— Deanna Goodwin, age and address not provided, was issued a citation court date for speed following a Feb. 22 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— An officer conducted a traffic stop on Feb. 25 for a vehicle being driven by Brandy Wiggins, age and address not provided, after Wiggins pulled out on Shadyside Avenue in front of the officer with no visible license plates due to lights hanging down in front of it. After running Wiggins’ license, they returned as suspended and the officer issued her a citation for the suspension and had the vehicle towed.
— Jacklyn Woolmaker, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed following a Feb. 26 traffic stop on Boring Lane.
— Aaron Reed, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and a mandatory court date for driving under suspension and speed following a Feb. 28 traffic stop on state Route 7. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. An employee showed officers video of a woman place a cell phone under pallets in the parking lot. The owner of the phone arrived on scene, and it was returned to them.
— Richard Gregory, 62, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his eastbound vehicle on West State Street attempted to turn onto Elm Avenue causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven westbound by Cathrine Leake, 24, Berlin Center at 3:07 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported hit and skip. The caller advised that it had occurred about an hour before he called the department and that he just wanted a report on file.
— Officers responded to the 36200 block of Old state Route 558 at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with an attempt to locate a person with an outstanding warrant. Officers spoke with a resident who advised the person in question was not there nor were they welcome there.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:06 p.m. Wednesday regarding a package being delivered to the wrong address. Officers attempted contact where the package was delivered but were unsuccessful. Officers will attempt contact again at a later time.
— Officers responded with the housing and zoning department to the 300 block of South Broadway Avenue for a report of barricades blocking the alley. Officers spoke with the landowner who owns land on both sides of the alley and advised them that the barricades had to be removed until the alley is vacated by the city. They advised they understood and removed the barricades. The zoning officer further advised them of the process to vacate an alley which they also said they understood.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 12:56 p.m. Wednesday regarding a stolen package. Officers were advised that FedEx attempted to deliver a package for the caller which was refused by a family member but still signed for and marked as delivered despite never been given to a family member. Officers advised that a police report would be made.
— Officers were made aware of an incident that occurred within city limits back in 2023 involving juveniles. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers learned of a person who possibly entered a vacant apartment in the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue and has been staying there at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday. Contact was made with the property owner who advised that the apartment has been vacant for the past five months and nobody has permission to be inside. Officers later checked the apartment and found nobody present, but that someone had been living in the apartment. The owner was contacted and advised that he would take care of securing the property.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense. The person in question, Octavious Clark, 47, Warren, was taken into custody and $80 was seized as part of the investigation, and further investigation showed that Clark had an active warrant out of the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office in Pennsylvania. Clark was transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with fugitive of justice, and charges from the Human Trafficking Task Force.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday for a requested stand by while the caller retrieved property. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— Officers were flagged down at 4:37 p.m. Thursday for a requested wellness check on a vehicle parked in the library parking lot. Officers met with the occupant who was fine and on the phone with someone.
— Officers responded to the 200 block South Lincoln Avenue at 1:54 p.m. Thursday for a report of an open door. Officers discovered the homeowners were present and there were no issues.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Superior Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. Officers were advised that a vehicle had been parked in the same spot for seven to 10 days. Officers observed the vehicle to be legally parked and will be falling up with the parks department.
— The school resource officer was advised by the bus supervisor of an issue with a parent at one of the bus stops at 10:40 a.m. Thursday. Officers went to the residence and spoke with the parent, advising her of the issues and the parent advised that they understood the bus policy and there would be no more issues.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of North Madison Avenue with the housing officer at 9:42 a.m. Thursday about a vacant residence with an open door. The housing officer advised the residence was secure the last time they checked the residence, and officers checked the residence but did not locate anyone. Officers did observe signs of an unknown person living in the residence and an extra watch on the residence was requested.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 9:27 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the man in question and advised them to contact the caller.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of East Third Street at 8:02 a.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller believes an ex-boyfriend is somehow getting into her residence when she is not there due to items around the house being out of place. There were no signs of forced entry, but the caller wanted officers to be aware of the situation. Officers will provide an extra patrol in the area.
— At 1:21 p.m. Friday, a detective was made aware of a possible theft in the city. The matter is under investigation.
— A 500 block West Pershing Street resident reported at 9:50 a.m. Friday his neighbor had been driving through the curb lawn in front of his house and he has had to fill the ruts that were left.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 10:19 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported her juvenile friend texted her saying her mom had bit her. Officers spoke with the friend who said everything was fine and she was not fighting with her mom.
