Sheriff’s Office
— An alarm was reported at 11:03 p.m. Thursday at Ag-Pro, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, where all doors and windows were found secure at ground level.
— A man on U.S. Route 30, West Township, reported at 4:38 p.m. Friday that he was having a custody issue with his children’s mother. He was told to contact an attorney.
— Deputies responded at 12:40 a.m. Feb. 26 to U.S. Route 30, West Township, for a report of smoke or a gas smell inside with multiple handicapped persons inside. Upon arrival, Minerva Fire Department was on the scene. Deputies stood by for assistance if needed. Once the fire department cleared the residence, deputies cleared the scene.
Leetonia
— During door checks on routine patrol at 2:13 p.m. March 1, an officer found an open gate at the rear of the football stadium. After securing it and checking on all main doors at Leetonia K-12 school, all were found secure.
— Police investigated a report of a small train on the track entering the village at 4:08 p.m. Feb. 27 that was possibly on fire. After initiating a stoppage of said vehicle, which was moving slowly while putting out sparks and large amount of smoke, the officer had the fire department toned out to respond near the bridge on Washington Street. After talking to the engineer, he explained that it was a grinder train and they are reported on fire all the time to 911, so the officer cancelled the fire department.
— An officer investigated an open line who had activated her patient in the 100 block of York Strett sometime before 1:18 p.m. Feb. 18. Upon arrival, the officer learned the patient no longer live at the residence in question.
— A welfare check was performed in the area of Wilson and Columbia at 1:57 p.m. March 1 as there had been a Bob Evans bag from a Doordash delivery with untouched container of food sitting there for at least eight days. Upon checking with three apartments nearby to make sure they were okay and that they hadn’t ordered, the officer cleared the scene.
— A Norfolk Southern employee had knocked over a village fire hydrant sometime before 2:20 p.m. March 2 in the 200 block of Columbia Street.
— An unoccupied vehicle was discovered parked at the Leetonia Public Library at 8:39 p.m. March 2.
— Two adults were discovered horizontal in a parked vehicle at 6:51 p.m. March 3 in the Coke Ovens’ lot. They were escorted off the property, after the officer reminded them the area closes at dusk.
St. Clair Township
— Officers responded to a report of a fight at the Tobacco Depot on Feb. 17. The officers spoke with a female who worked there who told them the fight was between her ex-husband whom she has a restraining order against and her ex-boyfriend. The two males were gone when officers arrived. The female declined to press charges.
— A warrant was issued for Timothy Boggs, 32, address not provided, for domestic violence. A third party called police on Feb. 17 to the Glenn Street residence saying that Boggs woke up and attacked his girlfriend. The female told officers Boggs jumped on her with steel toe boots. Boggs fled before the police arrived.
— An officer stood by a crash scene on Cameron Road on Feb. 17 until the highway patrol arrived and handled the crash.
— Officers advised an employee that the business needed a keyholder due to them responding to multiple alarms at a St. Clair Avenue business, when they arrived for an alarm call on Feb. 18.
— An officer moved a construction cone on state Route 170 to eliminate it obstructing the view of traffic after responding on Feb. 19 to a complaint of a construction cone truck blocking traffic near the Skyview Plaza.
— Officers found a building on state Route 170 to be clear and secure after responding to an alarm at the location on Feb. 19.
— Tiffany Cunningham, no age or address listed, was arrested, charged with petty theft and released with a court summons after officers responded to Sheetz for a report of a female shoplifter. Cunningham was observed on security footage taking six items totaling $102.46 and leaving the store without paying.
— An officer removed the front bumper of a car from the roadway on state Route 11 on Feb. 19. The bumper still had the license plate on it which was registered to an address in Findlay, Ohio. The officer called Findlay police and advised them to let the owner know that his plate was taken could be picked up at the St. Clair Township Police Department.
— A landlord was advised to turn the electric back on to a Bloomfield residence after a couple called police and complained he shut the electric off and it was cold. Officers spoke with the landlord who said they had not paid enough to cover the monthly bill and verbally told them to move from the garage apartment. The officer instructed the landlord on how to get an eviction order and told him due to the cold to turn the power back on. The officer told the couple they should start looking for somewhere else to live.
— Officers did not find the dog reported for barking in the Sommerset, Lincoln Avenue area after searching the whole area on Feb. 19.
— A female reported by phone on Feb. 19 that a male threw a bottle at her windshield on state Route 170 on Feb. 19. She said she just wanted a report on file and does not want charges pressed.
— Officers had EMS check out a child in the back seat of vehicle that was involved in a private property crash at Sheetz Gas Station.
— An officer spoke to an employee at Pipeline on Feb. 19 after responding to an alarm. The employee said everything was fine.
— A driver was issued a warning following a Feb. 20 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road for no visible registration. The driver received a warning for a dark plate cover that was also covered in dirt making the registration non-visible.
— A traffic stop was conducted at Oakmont Plaza on Feb. 20 after a vehicle pulled out in front of an officer in a marked vehicle. The driver was issued a warning.
— An officer notified the realty company for a Maple Lane property for sale on Feb. 20, that he observed footprints in the small going to the back of the house and an unlocked window. He also observed boots, a jacket and a bag in the house.
— A driver was issued a verbal warning following a Feb. 20 traffic stop on Annesley Road after an officer observed him roll through a stop sign.
Salem
— Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of East State Street at 11:17 p.m. Sunday was flagged down in the parking lot of Circle K and advised that two people are sleeping in a vehicle next to their residence. She also advised that they were using her electricity and requested officers check on the situation. Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, which was parked in a public parking lot, and advised they worked at Taco Bell and live out of town and that their car was having issues, so they did not want to risk driving it home. There were no signs that the resident’s electricity was being used.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 7:41 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with a mother and their juvenile son and were advised that the juvenile had become upset with his mother after she went into his room and began yelling at him. It was also reported that the juvenile became unruly and decided to flood the bathroom. Officers spoke with the juvenile and got him to calm down and the mother was advised of her options for filing unruly charges with the juvenile court.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 7:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported combative patient that was reported to be leaving the emergency room. Officers located the person, Darrien Greenlee, 31, Lisbon, in her room with hospital staff standing in front of the doorway to prevent her from leaving due to an emergency admission. However, Greenlee attempted to force her way out of her room and shoved a nurse into a wall before being subdued by hospital staff. The nurse was struck in the neck requiring the use of an ice pack and requested to pursue the matter legally. Later in the shift after the emergency admission was lifted, Greenlee was taken into custody for assault and transported to the Columbiana County Jail
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 7:02 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. Officers attempted contact but the residents refused to answer the door, and officers did not hear anything coming from inside.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cliff Drive at 6:35 p.m. Sunday to assist Perry Township officers with an outstanding felony warrant. Officers located the person in question walking away from the residence who then ran into the woods pursued on foot by officers. Officers located him hiding near a shed after jumping a fence and he was taken into custody.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 5:22 p.m. Sunday for a report of loud music being played. Officers located the source, and the music was turned down.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 4:31 p.m. Sunday regarding disciplinary issues with their juvenile son. The caller advised that his juvenile son has been acting unruly and wanted officers to explain the possible consequences of the behavior. Officers advised the juvenile of the potential outcomes of their behavior and advised the parent of the process of filing possible unruly charges with the juvenile court.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:50 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they have been feeling down lately and needed someone to talk to. After talking with them they decided that they would spend time with a family member to get out of the house. Officers advised them to call back if they needed anything.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 12:42 p.m. Sunday to assist the fire department with a reported electric stove fire. The fire was extinguished, and the stove was removed from the home. No damage was caused to the structure.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:55 a.m. Sunday for a report of two men slumped over in a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers spoke with the men who advised they were waiting for a friend to get done with therapy and they fell asleep.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 10:52 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers were advised that the parties had been arguing but nothing physical had occurred. Officers advised both parties to remain separated for the rest of the day.
— Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 11:46 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. Officers attempted to locate the person in question but were unable to do so.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:34 p.m. Monday for a reported 911 hang up call. Officers checked the area but were unable to contact anyone at the residence.
— Officers heard a man yelling in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Monday. Officers observed the man walking northbound on South Broadway Avenue and then onto Columbia Street. Officers spoke with the man who advised he was fighting with his girlfriend, and the man was given a warning for disorderly conduct.
— Officers on patrol in the area of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:16 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal when turning on North Lincoln Avenue and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, finding the owner to be suspended. A K-9 officer was requested to the scene and a search of the vehicle was also conducted. Nothing was found in the vehicle and the driver, Mary Kiehl, 40, Salem, was cited for failure to reinstate and the vehicle was parked until a valid driver could take possession of the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Olive Street at 11:48 a.m. Monday for a report of a juvenile who ran away from the Salem High School. The juvenile returned to the school prior to officers completing the report and the mother responded as well. The juvenile met with the school resource officer and her mother prior to leaving for the day.
— The school resource officer was advised of a student with mental health issues at Southeast Elementary and was advised of what was currently going on. The student was pink slipped and transported to Akron Children’s Boardman by EMT for evaluation and the mother was advised of the situation.
