Highway Patrol
— Stephanie Murphy, of Beaver Street in Lisbon, was cited at 3:33 p.m. Feb. 16 for failure to control, after a single vehicle crash in Wayne Township. Murphy was driving southbound on state Route 164 when she failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road, striking a ditch.
— Ashley McMasters, of Minerva Street in East Liverpool, was cited at 2:28 p.m. Feb. 17 for failure to control in Center Township, after her eastbound vehicle went off the right side of TR862 and hit a tree.
— Matthew Sinley, of Courtney Road in Beloit, was cited at 7:16 p.m. Feb. 16 in Fairfield Township, after he drove off the left side of the road when exiting the southbound ramp for state Route 344 and hit a traffic sign.
— Zachary Selway, of Canton, was cited at 9 p.m. Feb. 20 for failure to control, after westbound vehicle attempted to travel straight onto old state Route 558 and went off the left side of the road, hitting a traffic sign and wooden pole.
— Donald Jones, of Clark Avenue in Wellsville, was cited for failure to control and a seatbeat violation at 1:46 p.m. Feb. 12 in St. Clair Township. Jones was northbound on state Route 267 and went off the right side of the road, striking a plastic pole (owned by Buckeye Water District) and parked car (owned by Amos Solansky) before leaving the scene. St. Clair Township police and the patrol later responded to the 7/30 Superette, where he alleged had gone with his possibly injured passenger after the crash. Both refused treatment or transport at the Superette. There was an additional notation to the report that the passenger, whom possibly had struck her head on the windshield, had passed several days later after the accident of an undisclosed cause.
— Harley Townsend, of Garfield Road in Salem, was cited at 1:25 p.m. Feb. 16 in Butler Township for failure to control. Townsend was northbound on CR400 when she lost control of her vehicle, went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.
Sheriff’s Office
— A Gavers Road, Franklin Township resident reported at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday that a deer was on his property injured and needed put down, but when a deputy arrived, the deer took off into the woods.
— Deputies were dispatched at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday to state Route 517, Elkrun Township for an open 911 line. The homeowner said it was accidental.
— A welfare check was requested at 10:41 p.m. Saturday at a residence on state Route 644, Hanover Township, where multiple juveniles were allegedly alone. A deputy spoke with the juveniles, who were fine and in the company of an adult.
— East Palestine police and county sheriff deputies checked the welfare of a person on Chain School Road, Unity Township, arriving at 8:43 p.m. Saturday. The person was not at the residence, but was reached by a deputy via phone and was fine.
— A deputy was dispatched at 8:19 p.m. Feb. 21 to Desellem Road, Madison Township for a domestic dispute. A refusal was signed.
— A man on Elk Avenue, Center Township reported at 7:58 p.m. Feb. 21 that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway. The vehicle was located in Mahoning County after being involved in a crash and the driver and passenger left walking on foot.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 2:39 p.m. Friday for a criminal trespass report. The caller advised they wanted a man trespassed from their business and filled out the trespass notice and advised the person in question. They advised they understood and would not return.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 2:02 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the city. The person in question was transported to the police department for processing and then transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— The school resource officer was advised of an issue with a student at Reilly Elementary at 11:06 a.m. Friday. The officer and school administrators addressed the issue with the student, and he advised he would not cause the issue again.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 5:43 p.m. Friday for a reported 911 hang up call. Officers checked the area and could not locate the source of the call.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fourteenth Street at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman digging through garbage cans. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was able to go through garbage cans because they were on the curb lawn and officers advised her that she was correct and to just put any garbage she wasn’t going to take back in the cans.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. An unknown vehicle attempted to back out of a parking space and struck a legally parked vehicle before leaving the scene. The damage was documented with photos and officers attempted to review footage but were unable to obtain a plate to identify the owner.
— Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West State Street at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. Officers discovered the altercation had occurred over a relationship issue and were given conflicting stories. Neither party wanted to pursue charges, and both went their separate ways.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of East State Street at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a juvenile in the roadway on a scooter. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juvenile.
— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday to search for a man that was being seen in the emergency room that officers had criminal charges on from the previous night. Officers located the man, Ryan Butler, 39, Lisbon, and he was transported back to the emergency room and once he was discharged officers took him into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:55 p.m. Monday for a reported assault. The person in question assaulted a security guard for the hospital and attempted to leave the building before being stopped by a sheriff’s deputy. The person had already been restrained when officers arrived, and charges are pending.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 10:43 p.m. Monday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that someone they knew in high school was texting them and saying things they did not like through Facebook. Officers advised them to block the person, and he advised that he can’t because he wouldn’t be able to see what the person is posting. Officers advised a report would be on file.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an intoxicated person walking in the roadway. Officers spoke with the person who officers had already dealt with earlier in the shift and the fire department and EMT responded due to the person needing medical help for withdrawals. He was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 5:48 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller appeared to be under the influence of something and was not making sense and was offered medical attention along with other types of assistance which he declined. The homeowner asked that the person leave the party which he did, and he was advised that if he changed his mind about assistance to contact officers.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 5:24 p.m. Monday for a report of loud music. Officers advised the homeowner of the complaint, and he apologized and turned the music down.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 3:59 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damage to a motor vehicle. The caller advised that an unknown man started yelling at him and threw a nearly full can of pop striking the driver’s side door of his vehicle while he was driving in the area of East State Street and Ohio Avenue. Officers observed a freshly damaged section of paint along the lower kick panel at the bottom edge of the door and documented the damage with photos. The caller also advised they’d had previous issues with the same individual and wanted charges filed if possible. Officers gathered information and will forward the incident for review for charges.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Monday to check for a juvenile who had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Juvenile Court. Officers located the juvenile and placed him into custody, transporting them to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.
— Jacob Smith, Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension after a routine registration check on his vehicle in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Euclid Street at 10:31 a.m. Monday conducted a routine registration check on a vehicle showed the owner to be suspended.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Fairview Court at 9:09 a.m. Monday to assist Pennsylvania State Police in obtaining contact and insurance information from a person regarding a traffic crash. Officers spoke with the person in question and the information was given to the Pennsylvania state trooper.
