New Waterford

— Officers responded to the Church Street Apartments at 6:08 p.m. Thursday in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle and told them to move to a parking space after making sure everything else was in order.

— Dakota Densmore, 20, New Waterford, was arrested on a protection order violation after officers responded to the 46000 block of state Route 46 at 6:59 a.m. in reference to a domestic between two brothers.

Salem

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:51 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that he and his ex-split up a month ago and that he had located her new boyfriend’s debit card in his vehicle and that an unknown black truck had been following him around and was making him nervous. Officers took the debit card an extra watch will be placed on the caller residence, and he was advised to call officers if needed.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 8:21 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a juvenile who allegedly made vague comments about harming herself on social media. Officers located the juvenile at her grandmother’s house in the 200 block of East Fourth Street and spoke with her for several minutes. Officers learned that she was upset about an issue at school, and she denied the allegations of referencing self-harm. The mother ultimately decided that she would seek help from a counselor for her daughter.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fourth Street at 4:51 p.m. Thursday for a report of a male juvenile throwing snowballs at the caller’s residence. Officers spoke with a male juvenile who advised he didn’t care about anything, and officers spoke with the juvenile’s mother who advised that she has been having issue with her son for a while now. The caller advised that there was no damage to his residence, and he didn’t want to press any charges.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Hawley Avenue at 4 p.m. Thursday for a reported unattended toddler. The caller was driving in the area and secured the child in a heated vehicle until officers arrived, and prior to officers’ arrival the child’s grandparent came out of the residence where the child had first been located, and the child was returned to them and taken back inside. First responders checked on the child and found them to be in good health with no apparent issues from the cold and officers learned that the child had somehow unlocked the back door and gotten outside, and the grandparents had been searching for them for several minutes until they found the door ajar and came outside. The incident was accidental but will still be forwarded for review by Children Protective Services.

— Officers on patrol in the area of North Lundy Avenue at 2:06 p.m. Thursday observed a man known to have an active warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Cody Hostetter, 23, East Palestine, confirming the warrant and taking him into custody. During a search of his person drug paraphernalia contraband was located and seized by the officers and Hostetter will be additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Hostetter was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:15 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers were advised that their juvenile daughter is being harassed by another juvenile they attend school with. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Benton Road at 1:01 p.m. Thursday for a report of elder abuse at a senior care facility. Officers spoke with the man in question and found that there was no abuse nor neglect going on and the man was just displeased with the services he was receiving at the facility. Officers advised the staff of the complaint.

— Officers were made aware of an incident that occurred within city limits but was reported to the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 1 at 12:14 p.m. Thursday. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle striking a building. The driver advised that they were attempting to park their vehicle but slid on snow and ice in the parking lot and struck the front of the building. The vehicle had no damage, but the building was damaged. The fire department checked the building and determined it was fine, and officers spoke with the manager of the business who advised they would handle it.

— The school resource officer was advised by administrators at Southeast Elementary at 10:31 a.m. Thursday that a student was texting and sending inappropriate messages through Snapchat to another student, and that the same student was also saying inappropriate and threatening comments in school yesterday during lunch. The student admitted to making the comments and sending the messages and he was disciplined by the school for what he said during school hours and the other comments will be addressed through the police department.

Wellsville

— A juvenile was transported to Tobin Juvenile Center after being arrested from a Broadway residence on Feb. 8 for domestic violence after officers responded to a complaint of an unruly juvenile.

— Officers informed a male resident that he was no longer permitted at the Save A Lot Store after employees reported him for harassment and management requested he be trespassed from the property. The male was informed if he goes back on the property he could be arrested.

— A female came to the police department on Feb. 8 requesting to file a police report and obtain a protection order against her ex-boyfriend who she said was threatening to shoot her fiance and that he would hunt her down because she belongs to him.

— The owner of Slacks reported on Feb. 12 that someone stole a 10-foot aluminum ladder from behind the business.

— Shawn Fullerton was being charged with assault after officers reviewed video footage of him shoving another male with considerable force at Rich Oil Gas Station on Feb. 16.
