-- Officers spoke with a male resident in the 46000 block of Taylor Avenue at 10:14 a.m. Feb. 1 who reported a female friend taking his vehicle overnight without permission. A short while later he called back advising the vehicle had been returned.
Leetonia
-- A Leetonia woman called police at 1:08 p.m. Feb. 6 to report the she had found sets of handprints on all her downstairs windows Feb. 4 when she was cleaning them after returning from vacation.
-- Pennex Aluminum Company on Commerce reports at 9:58 p.m. Feb 6 that a suspicious person was lurking in their parking lot. It was identified as a former employee who had been terminated days before.
-- A loose dog was reported at 2:55 p.m. Feb. 4 near the Leetonia market and reunited later with his owner.
Wellsville
-- A vehicle parked about two feet from a yellow line belonging to a resident with a suspended license and not with the vehicle was towed by First Class Towing at an officer's request on Jan. 26. The driver of the vehicle was advised the vehicle could be released to someone with a driver's license, insurance and proper plates.
-- Officers responded to report to two residents having their vehicles vandalized on Chester Avenue on Jan. 26. A male and female told the officers they were awakened by a loud bang but did not see anything when they looked outside. In the morning, they noticed the damage to the vehicles.
-- Justin McCauley was being charged with contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a child, after officers found a juvenile in the car with him during a Jan. 27 traffic stop for malfunctioning/nonworking headlight on Commerce Street. The officers detected an odor and asked McCauley about it. McCauley told officers he had a marijuana vape pen and two nuggets (small balls of marijuana). The juvenile was released into her mother's custody and the vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
-- Officers responded on Jan. 29 to a Wood Street residence for a report of a vehicle crashing into a garage. The driver of the vehicle said while he swerved to miss a deer, he hit a pothole and swerved hitting the rear of the garage.
-- Officers responded to a private property crash at the Crystal Lounge on Main Street on Feb. 2.
St. Clair Township
-- An officer responded to the scene of a one-vehicle crash in which the driver left the vehicle on state Route 7 on Jan. 25. The officer checked the area for the driver with negative contact. Driver arrived on scene about 10 minutes later. The officer assisted highway patrol who took possession of the scene.
-- A driver was issued a warning following a Jan. 26 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue for no license plate light.
-- Officers observed an open garage door that was not supposed to be open on state Route 170 on Jan. 26. The officers cleared the garage and the owner arrived.
-- An officer was requested by East Liverpool Police Department along with a request for mace and the pepper ball gun for a report of a subject that may be hiding in an attic crawl space on Avondale Street on Jan. 26. The officer discharged pepper balls in the attic while an East Liverpool officer discharged mace. The officer cleared when they were unable to locate the subject.
-- Officers received a report of a disabled vehicle off the roadway, with no one around it, on state Route 11 on Jan. 27.
-- A driver received a warning for driving at a higher rate of speed than the flow of traffic following a Jan. 28 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road.
-- A driver was given a warning and advised to use his flashers following a Jan. 28 traffic stop on state Route 170 for lights on the rear of the vehicle.
-- A male and female were advised to go on their own way after officers responded to reports of a male yelling on Bell School Road. A passerby came by and broke up the disturbance.
-- Officers responded on Jan. 29 to Calcutta Health Care for a vehicle that ran over a couple of ground lights with a non responsive driver who was transported to the hospital by NorthStar.
-- Officers transported a male and female to Walmart after responding to a report of a female sitting on the guardrail on state Route 170 crying on Jan. 29. After speaking with the male and female, officers determined their vehicle broke down and they were upset and trying to go to Walmart.
-- An unnamed driver was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign following a traffic stop on state Route 170 on Jan. 30. The driver also received a warning for no visible registration on the vehicle.
Salem
-- The school resource officer received a tip from the Columbiana Police Department at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday. The detective division was advised, and the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers on patrol in the 1500 block of East Pershing Street at 8:33 a.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle with a flat tire which had been parked on the street for some time. A 48-hour warning tag was left on the vehicle.
