Sheriff’s Office
— A woman on Valley Road, Butler Township, reported at 7:41 p.m. Saturday that her ex-boyfriend, who moved out of the residence, took her television and other belongings. The ex-boyfriend advised he did not move out of the residence and the television is his. He said he was waiting for her to move out of his residence, which is in his name, before he will start staying there again. He said she stole multiple items from him. They were both advised to contact attorneys.
— Deputies were dispatched at 4:38 p.m. Saturday to state Route 172, Center Township, for a domestic dispute between a woman and her husband. Both signed a refusal.
— The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 4:22 p.m. Saturday requested a welfare check on a person from Carroll County staying at a residence on North Front Street, Middleton Township, in Columbiana County. Deputies spoke with the homeowner who said the person was there and deputies spoke with the person, who was fine.
— Crisis Hotline requested a welfare check at 4 p.m. Friday on a person on Speidel Road, Hanover Township. A deputy spoke with the person who said they were fine. Other people were there with the person.
— Home Health Care, Kent, requested a welfare check at 3:52 p.m. Friday on a person on Kirk Road, Fairfield Township, who needs somewhere to stay. A deputy spoke with the person, who was fine and has a place to stay.
— Sara Klein, 28, Oak Street, Lisbon, was charged with endangering children, domestic violence and aggravated menacing after deputies were dispatched at 10:32 p.m. Thursday to Oak Street, Center Township, for a domestic violence report. She was taken to the county jail and appeared for arraignment in Columbiana County Municipal Court. A pretrial was set April 15 for her case.
— A deputy was dispatched at 8:21 p.m. Thursday to Dollar General, U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, for a possible theft of alcohol. Goshen Township Police District reported taking a 17-year-old into custody for domestic violence and the juvenile was intoxicated and claimed to steal alcohol from the store. A deputy spoke with the store manager, with charges pending.
— A medical involving a juvenile was reported at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on Bandy Road, Knox Township. Homeworth Fire was on the scene and Sebring EMS transported the juvenile to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital in Alliance.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Wilson Street at 4:10 a.m. Monday to assist the Perry Township Police Department. Officers spoke with the caller until Perry Township officers and stood by until the issue was resolved.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue at 3:02 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with bother parties involved officers determined nothing physical occurred and no threats were made.
— Officers on patrol observed a man known to have an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 10:41 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the man and confirmed the warrant, and the man, Allen Vancooney, Salem, was taken into custody and transported to Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers on patrol in the area of East State Street at North Broadway Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Sunday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation, conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver and requested K-9 Chaz respond. K-9 Chaz alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle and contraband was located on a passenger, John McCallister, 53, Salem, who was taken into custody charged with drug paraphernalia and transported to the Columbiana County Jail, and a written warning was issued to the driver. Additional charges are pending BCI results.
— Officers on patrol observed two suspicious people at the rear of a closed business in the 600 block of East Second Street at 6:51 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with them and observed a concealed weapon on one man, William McFarland Jr., Lisbon, who was believed to be under disability. Both were detained and the weapon was secured, and after confirmation of being under disability McFarland was taken into custody. The other person was advised of pending charges and released on scene, and McFarland was transported to the police department for processing prior to being taken to the Columbiana County Jail charged with possessing weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, to have a bond set by a judge.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Tanglewood Drive at 3:14 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a city resident. Officers spoke with the resident about the issues that were going on, and after speaking with the resident she was voluntarily transported to the emergency room by ambulance.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 2:24 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that he had received a text message stating that he owed money for unpaid traffic offences from an unknown source. The caller advised they just want to make a report to advise others not to fall for the scam.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 2:05 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil issue. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence and responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street and were able to speak with the people in question and determined that the matter was civil in nature.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Eighth Street at 2:01 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic. Both parties advised the other had gotten physical after an argument and officers did not observe any injuries to either person and all parties denied needing medical attention. Statements were left for all involved to fill out if they wanted and the caller left the residence to stay with her brother for the day.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 10:46 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check on a woman sitting in the lobby. Officers were familiar with the woman and aware that she is allowed to be in the lobby. Officers did speak with her and the woman denied needing medical attention.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Merle Road at 8:36 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and dispatch was able to contact the vehicle’s owner who advised they would have the vehicle moved.
— Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and state Route 45 at 3:52 a.m. to assist Perry Township officers with a traffic stop. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:20 a.m. Sunday for a medical call. Officers assisted the fire department and EMT until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 9:25 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller was advised that a runaway juvenile from the 800 block of Franklin Avenue had been hanging out with him throughout the day, and that they were still present at her home. Contact was made with the juvenile and her mother responded to take custody of them. The runaway juvenile was removed from LEADS.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 6:58 p.m. Saturday for a reported runaway juvenile. The caller advised her juvenile daughter left the residence around 11 a.m. and never returned. Due to prior issues at home the caller had the juvenile’s phone shut off and the juvenile was entered into LEADS and the caller was advised to contact officers if they returned.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of Tanglewood Drive at 6:27 p.m. Saturday to speak with a woman who resides there. Officers were advised by a caller that his mother-in-law was being scammed by an unknown man, and he advised that she plans to get visit the man and is worried about her safety. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.
