Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies were dispatched at 7:34 p.m. Jan. 18 to assist the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after their deputies were attempting to stop a vehicle that entered Washington Township on state Route 164, northbound from Jefferson County. While en route, dispatch advised the vehicle entered back into Carroll County on state Route 39 and crashed just over the county line and the driver took off on foot, came back into Columbiana County and was in Salineville. Deputies checked the area, but didn’t find the driver.

— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fourth Street at 11:57 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that someone was walking in the area with what looked to be a firearm. Officers searched the area and surrounding streets but did not locate anyone with a firearm and spoke with a person who was walking in the area but did not have a firearm on his person.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 9:33 p.m. Thursday for a reported accident where a vehicle slid off the roadway and struck telephone pole, street sign and a wire connected to the pole. The vehicle had fled prior to officers’ arrival and officers took photos of the incident and searched the area for cameras, but none were located. Ohio Edison was contacted due to the wire being pulled out of the ground.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:05 p.m. Thursday for an unknown issue. A 14-year-old juvenile requested their friend contact police, but officers didn’t know why. Officers discovered the juvenile and her mother had gotten into an argument over a hairbrush but nothing physical occurred. They were asked to leave each other alone for the night. The juvenile was advised of the unruly juvenile law.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 4:22 p.m. Thursday for a reported drive-off. The business called back a short time later to advise that the individual had returned a short time later and paid for the fuel.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 4:11 p.m. Thursday to speak with a caller regarding a vehicle going onto the property and doing donuts. The caller advised that they were fearful that if it happened again there would be damage. Officers spoke with the person in question and advised them to stay off the property.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 1:43 p.m. Thursday for a report of multiple juveniles left unattended in a vehicle. Officers spoke with the children inside the vehicle which was not running, and the mother was located and advised of the dangers of leaving the children unattended in a vehicle that is not running in extreme cold conditions. Officers gathered the information of the children, and the case will be forwarded to Children Protective Services of Columbiana County.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:19 a.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic dispute between a live-in boyfriend and girlfriend. The altercation was found to be verbal only and both parties were advised to remain separated for the time being.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 8:47 a.m. Thursday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that the vehicle in question had crossed the center line multiple times. Officers located the vehicle, conducting a traffic stop, and the driver advised they could not see properly due to the sun. Officers did not observe any signs of impairment, and the driver was advised to be more careful on the roadway.
