— A resident of the 200 block of Ridge Street reported at 3:06 p.m. Jan. 21 hearing gunshots near his residence. Police arrived and backtracked the shots as waterfowl hunters in the marshlands to the south of the residence.

— A barking dog complaint was received a 8:54 p.m. Jan. 21 in the 300 block of Columbia Street. Upon arrival in the area, the officer heard nothing.

— Information regarding rental law was given to a landlord and resident at 7:02 p.m. Jan. 22 of a residence in the 300 block of Washington Street.

— Officers responded at 6:52 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Haltec Corporation, where they learned the construction crew had entered through the wrong door and triggered the alarm.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Benton Road at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers found the address to be a cell phone tower and there was no sign of disturbance in the area.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force by taking a man into custody for engaging in prostitution. The person was transported to the police department where the task force served him with a summons for the violation.

— Officers responded to the area of state Route 9 at 7:24 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Perry Township Police Department with a motor vehicle accident involving disabled vehicles. Officers assisted with traffic control until the roadway was opened back up.

— Officers responded to the area of Cedar Ridge Drive and Summit Street at 5:23 a.m. Wednesday for a reported waterline break. The break was observed, and the water department was contacted.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 8:27 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a man who was said to have made comments of self-harm after a dispute. Officers spoke with the man who advised he did not wish to harm himself and the fire department and EMT responded and checked on the man. The man signed a refusal for treatment and advised he did not wish to have his sister return, and the caller advised the same. After attempts to locate a place for her to stay the woman was transported to the Salem Police Department lobby at her request to attempt to contact her father using dispatch and remained at the location due to it being a warming station.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 6:21 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile who ran off from the Salem Police Department’s jurisdiction. The juvenile was located and officers stood by with Salem officers who then transported the juvenile home.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 7:36 p.m. Friday for a reported domestic. Officers could hear what sounded like two people arguing inside and were advised that the residents weren’t arguing but his sister was getting agitated with the neighbors because they were making weird sounds, and the sister advised the same.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Countryside Drive for an accidental alarm at 2:09 p.m. Friday.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 2:18 a.m. Thursday for a reported medical call. Officers assisted EMT until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Benton Road at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate where the call originated from.

— Shane Barnes. 39, Smithville, was cited for motor vehicle stopped in the roadway after their stopped vehicle on state Route 45 was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven south by Rodney Sechrist Jr., 45, Salem, and debris from the crash was struck by a vehicle driven north by Tricia Pierson, 49, Salem, causing disabling damage to all three vehicles at 6:56 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday located tire tracks going through the field of the golf course. Officers followed the tracks where they determined the vehicle had turned around and left the property.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday to assist Salem officers with a domestic dispute. Officers stood by and assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Pidgeon Road at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that he had not been able to reach the person in question in a couple days. Officers spoke with the neighbor who provided a phone number for the woman’s son. Dispatch was able to contact the son who advised that she was staying with her grandson for a few days.

— Officers spoke with a person by phone at 11 a.m. Tuesday regarding damage to her mailbox. The caller advised that at an unknown time an unknown vehicle hit her mailbox damaging the mailbox.
