Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy responded to an alarm call at 5:36 a.m. Thursday at the American Legion on Y & O Road, East Liverpool. The building was checked from outside and appeared secure from ground level.
— An alarm call was reported at 2:57 a.m. Thursday at an address on state Route 170, Middleton Township, where a deputy checked the property and found it secure. Contact was made with the resident who advised everything was fine.
St. Clair Township
— Officers assisted NorthStar EMS with a weak elderly male at a Purinton Avenue address on Jan. 15.
— Officers checked on a report of a deer in the roadway on Y&O Road, but found nothing on Jan. 18
— A driver was given a verbal warning for trying to beat a red light, going through it just as the light turned red, following a Jan. 18 traffic stop on state Route 170.
— Officers were unable to locate a car going the wrong direction after receiving a report on Jan. 20 of a car going north in a southbound lane on state Route 11.
Leetonia
— An officer provided mutual aid for Ohio State Highway Patrol, Columbiana and Beaver Township police shortly before 1 a.m. Jan. 18 for the investigation of an abandoned vehicle.
— Village police were dispatched twice on Jan. 18 to the 300 block of Pearl Street for a verbal dispute between her daughter and her boyfriend. She was advised that due to the male having established residency, he would need to be evicted.
— An officer responded at 1:28 p.m. Jan. 18 to an alarm drop in the area of Woods Boulevard.
— A theft report was taken regarding an incident at 1:57 p.m. Jan. 19 on Walnut Street. A female reported that her ex-husband stole some items (like a car battery and radio – less than $500) out of her truck, when she allowed him to retrieve his tools from the vehicle.
Columbiana
— Jennifer Scott, of Columbiana, was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Jan. 18 on a charge of OVI in the 200 block of North Bayshore Drive.
— Andrew Nutt, of Columbiana, was served at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17 with an active warrant out of the Columbiana County’s Sheriff Office in the 500 block of West Park Avenue.
— Police responded at 3:23 p.m. Jan. 15 to a private property, non-injury crash in the 400 block of West Railroad.
— A unidentified city resident reported identity theft at 12:31 p.m. Jan. 13 on station.
Salem
— Officers responded with the Salem Fire Department and EMT Ambulance to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:18 p.m. Sunday in reference to an ambulance request. The patient was assessed and transported to a proper medical facility for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 1:27 p.m. Sunday in reference to an altercation between multiple juveniles and found it to be verbal only. Officers advised the juveniles to go their separate way and advised all the parents of the altercation.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block Fairview Court at 12:46 p.m. Sunday to check the well-being of two female juveniles. Officers found the children to be in good health, but were not invited into the home to see living conditions. The case was forwarded to children services.
— Officers responded to a 500 block South Broadway Avenue at 2:12 a.m. Sunday where a patron had fallen off a bar stool and knocked himself out. Officers stood by for crowd control while medical personnel treated him. The patron was ultimately transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to a 1700 block East State Street business at 7:44 p.m. Saturday in reference to an intoxicated man passed out in the play area and employees were having trouble getting him to wake up. Medical personnel tended to the man and he was transported to the Salem hospital for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 7:05 p.m. Saturday to assist EMT with an intoxicated person, who went willingly with EMT.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in reference to a runaway juvenile, but were unable to find anyone. Officers later responded to the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road where the juvenile had been found. Officers transported the juvenile back to their home.
— Selvin Alvarez, 26, Salem, was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign and no driver’s license following a two-vehicle crash on North Ellsworth Avenue and West Fifth Street at 11:05 a.m. Saturday in which he was eastbound and failed to yield from the stop sign, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Dale Mountz, 78, East Rochester. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the area of Salem Regional Medical Center at 9:51 p.m. Friday in reference to a patient who had walked away with an IV still in his arm. Officers were unable to find the person in question.
— An officer responded with a K-9 to assist Perry Township police on a traffic stop on Depot Road at 8:24 p.m. Friday. The K-9 indicated the presence of a narcotic odor and a search of the vehicle revealed suspected drug abuse instruments. The officer stood by until no longer needed.
— Steven Johnson, 59, Lisbon, was charged with physical control after officers responded to the 1100 block of East State Street at 6:58 p.m. Friday in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. Officers observed his vehicle in a parking lot and found multiple signs of impairment while talking to Johnson, as well as an open bottle of vodka on the passenger seat.
— Larry White, 68, New Waterford, was charged with OVI following a two-vehicle crash in which he struck another vehicle while backing out of a parking space.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:34 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in arresting an individual for soliciting. Cash was confiscated as evidence.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 3:26 p.m. Friday to assist a representative of the Columbiana County Mental Health Counseling Center take custody of an adult male suffering from mental health issues and posing a danger to himself and others. The man was restrained and transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by ambulance.
— An officer spoke with a complainant on station at 3:16 p.m. Friday who reported their daughter was being threatened by another juvenile at school. The officer collected a statement from the juvenile and the matter is under investigation.
— An officer at 6:39 p.m. Friday was advised of an alleged sex offense involving a juvenile. The matter is under investigation.
— An officer responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 2:33 p.m. Friday where a caller reported she went into a local business where an employee, who is her ex-boyfriend, kicked her out. She was advised to contact corporate to file a complaint. The employee said the caller had been harassing him for multiple weeks. The officer advised him of his options.
— An officer responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 1:45 p.m. Friday and stood by until EMT was able to transport at a patient to a local hospital.
— A Cleveland Street resident reported at 11:19 a.m. Friday a vehicle had been parking in front of his house multiple times and when he approached the driver, the driver drove off.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 5:45 a.m. Friday in reference to a noise complaint and found a snow removal service using a leaf blower. Officers advised the man of the complaint and he stopped using the leaf blower.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Wilson Street at 4:57 a.m. Tuesday for a reported commercial alarm. The business was secure.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 11:13 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties involved and resolved the matter for the night.
— Officers spoke to a man sitting in one of the pavilions at Centennial Park at 9:23 p.m. Monday. The man was not doing anything illegal, but officers wanted to ensure they were okay due to the extreme cold which they were.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:14 p.m. Monday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the residents who advised it was an accident due to their children playing with a phone.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:56 p.m. Monday for a complaint of a dog outside. Officers advised the caller that the animal had adequate shelter with food and water as officers had been there previously.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:34 p.m. Monday regarding a domestic situation with her live-in boyfriend. They advised that she had been physically assault by the boyfriend, and officers did observe injuries consistent with her statement. Officers responded to the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue and placed the boyfriend, Nashua Jenkins, 27, Salem, into custody charged with domestic violence and strangulation a fourth-degree felony, and, due to his actions, transported Jenkins directly to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of Ohio Avenue and East State Street at 3:21 p.m. Monday for a reported traffic light malfunction. Officers observed the light in question cycle through several times without issue.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 1:35 p.m. Monday for a reported identity theft. The caller advised that someone unknown to her had used her information to file their income taxes. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:47 a.m. Monday for a custody dispute. The caller advised that the juvenile had been living with her for some time and the father wanted him back. She advised that she did not have custody of the juvenile and officers advised her that if the father wanted to come and get the juvenile he could. The caller advised they understood, and officers advised the father he would be able to pick the juvenile up if he wanted.
— Officers responded to the 110 block of Salem Parkway at 5:46 a.m. Monday for a business alarm. Officers spoke with the employees of the business who advised them the alarm had been set off by accident.
— Officers responded to the area of Summit Street at 5:23 a.m. Wednesday for a reported waterline break. The break was observed, and the water department was contacted.
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 5:13 a.m. Wednesday for a reported alarm. The business was checked, and all doors were secured.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with one of the involved parties and the other had barricaded themselves in a room and shouted obscenities. Officers eventually were able to contact the other party who had inflicted injuries on themselves and needed medical attention and transported them to the hospital for evaluation due to their behavior.
— Officers responded to Dollar General at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday for a reported alarm. The building appeared to be secure.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers resolved the issue.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday for a reported trespass complaint. An employee advised that an adult male and a juvenile male used unopened packages of paper towels to build a fort in the aisle, and were given warning and advised the business may choose to trespass them in the future.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday for a reported waterline break. Officers checked the area and located a large amount of frozen water on the roadway and notified the water department.
— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday for a reported vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. Officers located the vehicle in question legally parked in a parking lot and advised the driver of the complaint. Officers did not observe any violations.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 11:52 a.m. Tuesday to check on the status of a lost dog. The dog was not located.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:52 a.m. Tuesday to assist Columbiana County Children Services with contacting a person but contact could not be made.
— Officers spoke with a person in the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday regarding issues with her ex-boyfriend. Officers explained their options to them.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Goshen Road at 7:50 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. The father answered the door and advised the woman in question was not at the residence. The father became aggressive toward the officer and was advised that if officers are dispatched to check on someone’s mental health they must respond. Dispatch was notified to let the caller know the family does not want to be contacted.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Andrew Avenue at 4:27 p.m. Monday for a 911 call where rumbling could be heard in the background. When officers arrived, they spoke with the same grandparent and juvenile from a call earlier in the day and were advised the juvenile called on his smart watch again. Both the juvenile and grandmother were advised of misuse of 911 services and the grandmother took the smart watch so no further 911 calls could be made.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Andrew Avenue at 12:52 p.m. Monday for a 911 open line. While attempting contact at a residence, the resident of another residence came outside and advised her grandson had accidentally called 911 on his smart watch.
