Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:06 p.m. Thursday to Sell Road, Center Township, for a private property accident.
— A woman from Perry Township reported at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday that she was en route to a relative’s residence on Trinity Church Road, Center Township, to get her vehicle that’s parked on the property and the relative is telling her she’s going to have it towed if she does not get it. She was advised it’s a civil matter.
Leetonia
— An officer was dispatched to an alarm drop at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday to a gas station in the 300 block of Columbia Street. Unable to reach a keyholder and finding everything secure, he cleared within 20 minutes of arrival without incident.
— Police responded at 8:56 a.m. to a dispute between a male and a female subject in the 500 block of Columbia Street. The female wanted him removed, stating he was “off his meds.” She agreed to allow him to have the Nintendo system, so he went to a friend’s or relative’s house.
— An officer went to investigate a barking dog complaint at 7:19 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Ridge Street and found nothing.
— The department stood by for the Ohio State Highway Patrol for a motor vehicle crash at 6:52 a.m. Friday in the 94000 block of state Route 45 until they could arrive on scene. The officer cleared without incident when OSHP arrived.
Columbiana
— Brooke Lang, of Wellsville, was cited at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 28 near state Routes 7 and 14 with driving under suspension after a traffic stop.
— Isaac Faulkner, no address listed, was arrested at 11:06 a.m. Dec. 26 in the area of state Route 14 and Heck Road on an active warrant after a traffic stop.
— Two unidentified females were given warnings for disorderly conduct at 8:10 p.m. Dec. 25 after officers observed an active domestic dispute in the first block of West Park Avenue.
— Michael Bacon, no address listed, was given a criminal trespass warning at 10:05 a.m. Dec. 24 from Crash Champions after he became belligerent with employees.
— Officers responded for a welfare check at 8:27 a.m. Dec. 24 to the 300 block of Kingwood Avenue where a 90-year-old woman had fallen and been on the floor for the last eight hours. After police provided entry, EMS provided assistance.
— Joshua Scheller, of Columbiana, was arrested at 1:06 a.m. Dec. 24 for OVI near East Park Avenue and North Elm Street.
— Daniel Morelli, of Leetonia, was cited shortly after midnight Dec. 23 in the 14000 block of South Avenue for driving under suspension.
— Police responded at 12:58 a.m. Dec. 22 to the 200 block of North Elm Street for a domestic dispute. After an investigation, no charges were filed and police cleared without incident.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:52 p.m. Wednesday to check for a juvenile with a warrant out of Columbiana County. While attempting contact the juvenile, he fled from officers on foot and pushed an officer while doing so. Officers attempted to locate the juvenile but were unsuccessful and further investigation showed the family knew about the warrant and were knowingly harboring the juvenile. When officers were pursuing the juvenile, a relative was yelling vulgarities at officers and telling the juvenile to keep running. Charges for assault on an officers and obstruction of official business will be sent to the juvenile court. While officers attempted to speak with the family, the relative of the juvenile became belligerent with officers and “squared up with closed fists,” and failed to provide ID when requested by officers. As a result, the relative, Lane Phillips, 20, Salem, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with obstruction of official business, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and menacing.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Youngstown Police Department with a follow-up for an ongoing investigation. Officers stood by with Youngstown officers.
— Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and Summit Street at 10 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers located a woman that advised she was homeless. While speaking with the woman, a passer-by stopped and advised she volunteers at a shelter and gave her a ride there.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday for a reported hit and skip. Officers were advised that the caller’s vehicle was struck while unoccupied and parked in a parking lot by an unknown vehicle. Photographs were obtained and a report was made, and officers will be reviewing video footage in an attempt to identify the other vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:46 p.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers resolved the issue.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 11:10 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a woman who was reportedly acting strangely and yelling. Officers spoke with the woman in the 100 block of East State Street, and she advised she was okay and didn’t need anything. The woman was recently at the hospital, and they advised they didn’t need her back.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:48 p.m. Thursday for a reported overdose. The woman in question was allowed into the residence and the caller called for help after she possibly lost consciousness. The person was conscious yet highly intoxicated, needing assistance to walk to the ambulance for transport to the Salem Regional Medical Center. The woman admitted to using fentanyl within the hour and no contraband or paraphernalia was located on her person or in the area she occupied in the home.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:37 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault. Officers located the vehicle in question, speaking with the occupants and took Corey Snay, 30, Salem, into custody for reportedly punching a woman in the vehicle with him in the side of the head during an argument. A search incident to Snay’s arrest located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke narcotics in Snay’s pocket and he was transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail charged with assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of East State Street at 3 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the driver who advised that he had broken down and was waiting on a friend to come assist him with getting the vehicle running.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 12:23 p.m. Thursday to assist Columbiana County Children’s Services. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 11:50 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers determined the man was fine.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Mullins Street near the railroad tracks at 11:06 a.m. Thursday observed a large amount of running water on the roadway. Officers had dispatch contact the water department for a possible water leak.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 10:39 a.m. Thursday regarding a situation at her residence. After speaking with the person, it appeared that she might be having a medical issue and first responders and EMT responded and transported she to the emergency room.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Pine Lake Road at 11:54 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic. Officers were advised that both parties were intoxicated and refused to press charges.
— Officers on patrol in the area of state Route 45 near Georgetown Road at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle located on the side of the roadway which had previously been located unoccupied and secured the day prior, and due to the incoming weather, the vehicle was towed from the scene.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday for a reported medical call. When officers arrived EMT was tending to the patient.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:09 p.m. Monday for a wellness check on a person who had made comments of self-harm. The person in question was found in the city and officers stood by with Salem officers until they were no longer needed.
