Perry Township

— Officers on patrol in the area of West State Street at 4 a.m. Monday located a guideline down in the westbound lane. Officers were able to move the line off the roadway and notified Ohio Edison.

— Officers on patrol in the area Painter Road near the township limits when locating a piece of metal from a vehicle in the roadway at 2:41 a.m. Monday and removed the debris.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Highland Avenue at 2:35 a.m. Monday located a tree limb blocking the southbound lane. Officers were able to remove the tree.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Indiana Avenue at 11:34 p.m. Sunday for a tree blocking the roadway. Officers removed the tree from the roadway with the help of a pedestrian.

— Officers responded to the area of West State Street and the U.S. Route 62 bypass at 10:24 p.m. Sunday for a reported hit and skip accident with injuries. Officers were advised that a red GMC SUV had struck a vehicle then fled the scene and Salem officers assisted with the accident until Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived and handled it. The SUV was followed to the dead end of Allen Road by a witness where he left it off the roadway. When officers arrived on Allen Road, they requested Salem officers assist due to the registered owner of the vehicle Austin Angelli, 37, Salem, who fled into the woods. Angelli was pursued on foot and was OC sprayed due to not complying and retrieved from the woods before being transported by EMT. Austin was cited but not transported to the county jail due to intoxication levels and further charges are pending.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 4:16 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman lying in the ditch and walking in the roadway. When officers arrived, the woman was identified and would not cooperate before fleeing on foot. The foot pursuit ended when the woman was tazed, and EMT responded and transported the woman to the hospital. After being released the woman was placed in custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Benton Road at 2:46 p.m. Saturday for a report of water in the roadway. Once on scene officers located a water line break and contacted the water department. Officers remained on scene until it was safe.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Garfield Avenue at 11:22 a.m. Saturday for a residential check. Officers completed the check and the residence was secure.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Blossom Lane at 6:38 p.m. Friday for a possibly combative woman. EMT was able to load and transport the woman without issue.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 3:16 p.m. Friday to assist EMT with a medical call involving an 18-month-old juvenile who was unresponsive but breathing. When officers arrived, they found EMT already tending to the juvenile. EMT loaded and transported the juvenile.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of state Route 344 at 12:57 p.m. Thursday to speak with the homeowner. Officers were advised that someone had spread trash all over her property at the end of the driveway. Officers found that someone had lost a garbage bag out of the back of their vehicle and returned to pick up the trash.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of West State Street at 11:18 p.m. Dec. 24 for a possible domestic. Officers found that Gregory Morris, 60, Salem, had threatened to cut the caller’s throat with a large kitchen knife he was wielding. Morris was arrested and taken to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 4:54 p.m. Dec. 23 for possible dispute. When officers arrived the man in question had left on foot and officers checked the area.

— Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person walking around a residence in the1600 block of Harding Avenue at 7:29 a.m. Dec. 23. The caller advised that an unknown person was wearing a red hoodie and pajama pants and that she had seen the person on camera around her vehicle but did not see the person leave the property. Officers checked around the residence but could not locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the area of state Route 9 near the Saxon Club at 10:09 a.m. Dec. 22 for a one vehicle accident. Officers located the accident and stood by until the Winona Fire Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 11:43 a.m. Monday for a reported disorderly person. The person left prior to officers’ arrival and officers were advised that he was at the police department. Officers spoke with the person who made threats of self-harm and requested the fire department and an ambulance respond to the scene. The person was transported to the hospital for a psychological evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 10:04 a.m. Monday to check for a male juvenile with a warrant out of Columbiana County. Officers observed the juvenile walking out the back door of the residence and went to the rear of the residence, but the juvenile was nowhere to be found. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juvenile.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of a tree that had fallen on a garage. Officers didn’t observe any power lines down, took photos of the damage and provided the homeowner with a report number.

— Officers responded to the area of Highland Avenue and East Tenth Street at 11:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of lines down in the roadway. Officers located a tress across the street along with power lines and blocked the street until barricades could be set up.

— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:24 p.m. Sunday to provide traffic control while the fire department and Ohio Edison responded for a tree and power lines down.

— Officers responded to the area of South Union Avenue and East State Street at 8:34 p.m. Sunday for a report of lines down. Officers attempted to locate the downed lines but did not locate any in the area.

— Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 6:50 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. Officers located several people walking away from the pavilion and stopped and spoke with them, recovering an empty handle of Fire Ball while speaking with them and the person who drank the alcohol was determined through security footage and they will be trespassed from the parks. One of the people, Nickolas Good, 35, Salem, had an active warrant out of Columbiana County and he was taken into custody after the warrant was confirmed. Good was transported to the police department for processing and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue at 2:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity that occurred at his residence the night prior. The caller advised that a juvenile came onto his porch, banged on his door and took off running. The caller wanted a report on file.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 12:21 p.m. Sunday for a report of possible theft. The caller advised that the person in question had stolen her dog four days ago, and another person at the residence advised the caller had given them the dog. Officers spoke with the person who confirmed that the dog had been given to him. The person did return the dog to the caller after officers advised him it was a civil issue and not a criminal matter.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Mullins Street at 4:31 a.m. Sunday for a reported loud music complaint. Officers located the loud music, and it was turned down.

— Officers responded to West State Street at 12:10 a.m. Sunday to assist the Perry Township police and fire departments with traffic control for a hit and skip accident with injuries.

— Officers responded to the dead end of Allen Road at 10:29 p.m. Saturday to assist the Perry Township Police Department with an intoxicated man who crashed his vehicle and fled into the woods. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Amanda Lodge, 30, Salem, was cited for no operator’s license after her vehicle was observed running a stop sign on South Lundy Avenue at 8:29 p.m. Saturday.

— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 7:54 p.m. Saturday for three juveniles smoking marijuana in the park. Officers located the juveniles, confiscated and disposed of the marijuana, and all three juveniles were criminally trespassed from the parks and were picked up by a guardian.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 7:12 p.m. Saturday for a report of harassment. The caller advised a vehicle with multiple juveniles inside had yelled obscenities at him and a coworker while they were leaving work. The caller attempted to get a better look at them and walked toward the vehicle and when he did, they backed out of the parking spot and fled the business eastbound. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle, and officers advised the caller to contact police if the group was seen on the property again.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 5:32 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle in questions and conducted a traffic stop. Officers spoke with the driver, advising them of the complaint, and they advised they had been looking at holiday lights.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Depot Road at 4:24 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township officers. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:24 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a woman walking in the roadway who appeared to be in distress. Officers spoke with the person who advised that she did not know where she was or what month it was. The person agreed to be transported to the hospital for evaluation and EMT transported them to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boardman.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of Maple Street at 12:37 p.m. Saturday for a speak with officer report. The caller was advised of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised they had not seen their neighbor for an extended period of time and were concerned. Officers spoke with the resident who advised the person in question passed away in early December.
