-- Officers responded at 2:12 a.m. on Thursday to East Lincoln Way for a report of people walking around a residence and knocking on the door asking for different people. Officers made contact with the homeowner,who advised an older lady who came to the door. The woman asked if George was there and asked if she could come in. When he said no she walked to the back porch and did the same thing. Officers checked the surrounding area and found no one.
-- Officers took a call Wednesday at 6:44 p.m. from a woman who wanted to make a report of neglect and theft. The caller advised that prescription pills belonging to her mother who had suffered a stroke years ago were missing. Officers are investigating the missing medication.
-- Officers responded at 7 p.m. to East Washington on Tuesday for a report of a domestic disturbance. At the scene, officers spoke to a female who advised that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her and took their daughter to his mother's house in Wellsville. Officers made contact with the male who was told to bring the child back as custody belonged to the mother. The male returned the child and the female did not pursue assault charges.
-- Officers responded at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to Eisel Vision Clinic on East Lincoln Way for a report of a private property accident.
-- Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an OVI at the PHP Post 2:23 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
-- Officers arrested Tristan McCorkle, 30, no address given, on an outstanding warrant at 9:24 p.m. on Monday following a traffic stop in state Route 11.
-- Officers assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff's Officer with an alarm activation at Taco Bell at 5:33 a.m. on Monday. Officers checked all windows and doors and found the building to be unoccupied and secured.
-- Officers spoke to a resident over the phone at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday. The caller advised that he had been scammed. He stated that he had tried to buy two NFL tickets off of social media and had sent $250 through Apple Cash to the seller who was demanding more money to send the tickets. The post then appeared to be taken down. Officer advised the man to contact his card company in order to dispute the transaction.
-- Officers responded at 1:32 a.m. on Saturday to Circle K regarding a theft that had taken place. Officers arrived and spoke to an employee advised that three "kids had come into the store and were acting weird" and caught one attempting to steal a pack of Four Loko.
- Officers responded at 7:49 a.m. on Saturday to West Spruce Street for a possible theft. The caller advised that she had left her vehicle unlocked and later noticed all of her belongings had been thrown around in the vehicle and the glove box had been emptied. She stated that nothing appeared to be missing or damaged. Officers spoke to a resident on the same street who stated that his wife's vehicle had been unlocked and someone had gone through it as well.
-- Officers responded to the BP gas station on state Route 154 at 8:26 p.m. on Saturday for a theft. The money was later found in the safe where it should have been.
-- Officers responded to a gas leak at 1:27 a.m. on Saturday on South Lincoln. A woman with two children at the residence waited in the cruiser to stay warm while the fire department checked the house for leaks. The fire department stated that they did not detect any gas leak or suspicious smells. The fire department advised they could go back inside.
-- Officers spoke to a resident over the phone on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. who advised that two vehicles -- a 2015 Dodge Dart and a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Latitude -- were both missing from his residence on Pendleton Street. He stated that both were paid off so there was no chance of a repossession. Both vehicles had two sets of keys but the caller was in possession of both sets. The matter remains under investigation.
-- Officers responded at 12:26 p.m. on Dec. 6 to North Market Street for a male who had fallen on the sidewalk. A man was located covered in snow and was stumbling. He stated that he had fallen and did not need medical attention. He was transported to his residence on state Route 164.
-- Officers responded at 11:39 a.m. on Dec. 6 to the area of Maple Street and South Green Street for a semi truck that was stuck and had struck a possible gas line. When officers arrived, the truck was no longer at the scene. The truck had appeared to strike a gas line marker in the area.
-- Officers responded at 12:47 p.m. to an alarm going off at a garage on Jefferson Street on Dec. 5. The homeowner had not realized he had set the alarm off and reset it.
-- Officers responded at 12:11 a.m. on Dec. 5 to West Washington for an overdose. Officers located a female unconscious on the bathroom floor. North Star EMS arrived on scene and began to assess and treat the female. Officers allegedly found a child in a bedroom with drug paraphernalia in plain view. Brianne Flaherty, no age or address provided, was later charged with child endangerment.
-- Officers were contacted at the station on Dec. 4 at 7:41 p.m. by a female who advised that she had gone to a West Washington residence to speak to her ex-boyfriend to retrieve her car that they both co-own. The female advised that the male had pushed her against the car and choked her. Officers made contact with the male who advised that the female had punched him. Both parties ultimately refused to press charges against the other.
- Officer responded at 10 p.m. on Dec. 2 to North Market Street for a third party call regarding a possible domestic incident. Officers attempted to make contact but were unsuccessful. Deputies were requested to assist in attempting to make contact at a residence outside of village limits.
-- Officers while on patrol heard distant screams in the area of Jefferson Street near Chestnut Street at 6:46 p.m. on Dec. 2. Officers attempted to locate the source of the screams and later responded to a nearby residence after a third party caller reported a juvenile yelling from a residence. Officers made contact with involved parties who reported everything to be fine. No signs of distress or injuries were observed when speaking with the juvenile.
-- The village K9 officer assisted troopers with a traffic stop on state Route 30 at 9:11 p.m. on Dec. 1. Canine Otis was deployed to conduct narcotics detection on the vehicle which concluded in alerting to and finding narcotics after a search of the vehicle.
Salem
-- An officer responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 6:13 a.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious objects observed in the sky. The caller had read about drones in the state of New Jersey and believed they had seen possible drones over the city over the past several weeks. Two of these objects were observed through magnified binoculars and were primarily white with what appeared to be red flashes of light coming from them leading to the suspicion they could be drones. The officer parked in a nearby lot and monitored the sky for over 10 minutes observing two airplanes and a single point of light moving across the sky which was consistent with a satellite being lit by sunlight reflected from over the horizon. After monitoring the objects that had been singled out by the caller officers were able to conclude that they were most certainly stars and what appeared to be red flashing lights on the objects is an effect of star light being refracted as it passes through earth's atmosphere. The objects were also noted to be above the cloud layer where the lack of air density would prevent a drone from being able to hover in one spot for any length of time. Officers will follow up in the coming weeks and keep an eye on the morning sky to confirm their initial observations.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of East 12th Street at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal damage. The caller advised that sometime after 2 p.m. that day an unknown person had used a sharp object to damage the front and rear driver's side doors, and passenger side door, and drew on the hood in snow. Body cam video was taken of all the damage.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday for a report of unauthorized use of a vehicle. The caller advised that he had let a person borrow his vehicle a few weeks ago. The person has not answered any calls from the caller nor returned the vehicle. Information was gathered and the vehicle was entered into LEADS.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of West School Street and East Sixth Street at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday located a vehicle with the driver side door open and parked in a no-parking zone. Officers attempted to contact the owner but were unable, and the vehicle was towed by Kaiser Towing.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:02 a.m. Wednesday for a reported theft. A man entered the business, walked to the power tool department and subsequently filled a tool bag with power tools likely valued at approximately $300 to $600, then left the business without paying.
-- Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that she is having issues with a resident's son sending her unwanted text messages, driving by her house, and following her to her place of employment within the city. The caller advised she lived in the Columbiana County Sheriff Office's jurisdiction and officers advised her to contact the sheriff's office for the issues in their jurisdiction. An extra watch will be placed at the caller's place of employment, and they were explained the protection order process.
-- Officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday for a report of debris in the roadway. Someone had hit a barricade and pieces of it were lying on the ground. Prior to officers' arrival the barricade was moved off the roadway. Officers were able to put the barricade backup.
Columbiana
-- Brian Moran, of Salem, was cited at 10:27 a.m. Dec. 4 for driving under suspension near Duke and Duchess.
-- An investigation remains pending for the theft of a package outside Columbiana Manor Apartments, after police responded at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4.
-- Nathaniel Turner, of Rogers, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Dec. 3 with a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office.
-- Jennifer Whaley, of Salem, was cited at 11:42 p.m. for failure to reinstate license following a traffic stop on Commerce Circle.
-- A female subject requested EMS at 2:19 p.m. Dec. 1 in the 1000 block of Fairfield Avenue for a suicidal subject.
-- Nehemiah Bennett, address not provided, was arrested at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 29 on unidentified charges in the area of Park Avenue and state Route 14, after fleeing the scene of a traffic crash.
-- Police responded to a domestic dispute at 11:13 p.m. Nov. 28 in the 800 block of South Main Street Extension.
-- A Youngstown woman was charged with multiple charges Nov. 28, after city police encountered her in a vehicle reported stolen out of Lisbon. Abby Pierson was arrested at 7:30 p.m. near the Duke and Duchess and began overdosing in the back seat of a patrol car. Narcan was administered, which sent her into "a manic rage" and she began insulting officers before attempting to damage the patrol car's rear seat, window bars, ceiling and seat belts. She was ultimately released and transported to the hospital.
-- Police responded at 4:22 p.m. Nov. 28 to Columbiana Manor Apartment for a verbal domestic dispute.
-- Officers assisted Columbiana EMS at 1:38 p.m. Nov. 27 on Wind Rose Court.
-- Keith Hilliard, address not noted, was cited at 10:12 p.m. Nov. 26. in the area of Main and Herbster streets for driving under FRA suspension.
-- Delbert Breit, address not noted, was cited at 7:46 pm. Nov. 26 for driving under suspension near Windjammer Drive and state Route 14.
-- Police investigated a reported burglary at 6 p.m. Nov. 26 in the 300 block of West Salem Street.
-- Tony Hernandez, of Girard, was issued a summons for open container, after being stopped at 12:56 a.m. Nov. 26 in the area of North Main and state Route 14.
-- Police handled a crash at 12:58 p.m. Nov. 25 in the city's traffic circle. According to the report, a tractor-trailer struck bricks on the east side of the circle, damaging the bricks, before leaving the scene to go to a nearby business. Information was gathered and the unnamed driver was cited for reasonable control.
-- Jessica Tice, of Columbiana, was cited at 8:55 p.m. Nov. 24 for fictitious registration, after a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Main Street.
-- Police wrote a private property traffic crash at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 24 in the 44000 block of state Route 14.
St. Clair Township
-- A driver was issued a verbal warning following a Dec. 4 traffic stop on state Route 170 for an improper lane change.
-- A driver was given a verbal warning following a Dec. 5 traffic stop on Dresden Avenue for improper turn.
-- Officers responded to Irish Ridge Road on Dec. 5 for a vehicle in a ditch needing towed. While on the scene a second vehicle got stuck in the middle of the roadway. The county road crew arrived and salted the road.
-- A driver was given a verbal warning for an improper turn off of Calcutta Smith Ferry Road following a Dec. 5 traffic stop on state Route 170.
-- A driver was issued a verbal warning for entering the wrong lane after a turn from St. Clair Avenue following a Dec. 6 traffic stop on state Route 170.
-- After observing a vehicle turn left off state Route 11 and drive into the far-right lane on Dresden Avenue on Dec. 6, the officer conducted a traffic and issued the driver a verbal warning.
