East Palestine
— Officers issued a citation for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 7:57 p.m. on West Taggart Street on Thursday.
— Officers responded to Brookdale Avenue at 5:19 p.m. on Wednesday to assist EMS and a resident who had fallen and needed help. The resident was not injured.
— Officers responded to a neighbor dispute at 1:20 p.m. on Alice Street on Wednesday.
— Officers conducted a welfare check on Alice Street at 11:06 a.m. on Wednesday.
— Officer responded at 9:36 a.m. to Circle K on North Market to a shoplifting report on Wednesday. Officers located the subject who had the stolen items in his possession. At the request of the employees, the subject was released and given a no trespass warning.
— Officers responded to Alice Street at 7:49 a.m. to a report that a woman had potentially received a fraudulent letter.
— Officers responded to the city park on Park Avenue to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 9:02 p.m. on Nov. 18.
— Officers gave information regarding no-contact and protection orders to a resident on Moore Lane at 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 17.
— Officers were involved in a motor vehicle pursuit at 3:46 a.m. on Nov. 17. The chase was initiated when officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a white Chevy Camaro traffic stop for speeding and the vehicle fled. The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons on state Route 45 near the intersection of 558. The matter remains under investigation.
Sheriff’s Office
— A burglary report was taken at 7:08 p.m. Saturday at an Oakridge Road property in Yellow Creek Township.
— A woman on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township, reported at 5:48 p.m. Saturday that her ex-boyfriend was moving out of the residence and broke some of her items. She was told to contact an attorney.
— A man on Seigler Road, Washington Township, reported at 4:18 p.m. Saturday that someone came onto his property and cut down an oak tree, then tried to burn the stump.
— A woman on Sixteen School Road, Yellow Creek Township reported at 3:23 p.m. Friday that her 12-year-old daughter was being harassed by a classmate at Southern Local schools, state Route 39, Washington Township. She was advised to contact the school administration.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported a 12:02 a.m. Thursday at Damascus Community Center, Georgetown Damascus Road, Butler Township after park hours. A deputy spoke to the person and advised him of park hours.
Salem
— Edward F. Pittman, 42, Salem, was arrested on multiple warrants out of Columbiana County and also charged with felony-3 tampering with evidence and misdemeanor counts of obstruction of official business and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded with the sheriff’s office and drug task force to the 300 block of New Garden Avenue at 8:14 p.m. Friday. Pittman allegedly lied about his identity, then attempted to dispose of a pill bottle containing a rock substance.
— An officer responded to the area of East School and East Fifth streets at 4:26 p.m. Friday to assist the sheriff’s office with a traffic stop, providing a K9 which was deployed and indicated the presence of a narcotic odor. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected drug paraphernalia.
— An officer responded to the area of West School and East Fourth streets at 2:40 p.m. Friday where a resident reported his car had been egged and he found what appeared to be BB gun pellet markings on the right front passenger door.
— Cory Haueter, 38, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for drug abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and obstruction of official business after officers responded to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:31 p.m. Friday.
— An officer responded to the 900 block of East Fourth Street at 1:47 p.m. Friday where a resident reported someone had stolen a package from off the front porch.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:39 p.m. Friday in reference to a fight between two individuals in a parking lot. It was found the argument had escalated into shoving and a punch, but neither person wanted to pursue the matter.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Stewart Avenue at 11:47 p.m. Friday in reference to a civil matter in which siblings were in a dispute regarding the cremated ashes of a family member. The male, who does not reside at the residence, was issued a trespass warning and both people involved were told to contact an attorney.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 11:20 a.m. Friday to assist the fire department and EMT Ambulance with a medical emergency, standing by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:32 a.m. Friday to assist the Columbiana County dog warden recover two dogs from a condemned residence and found an person inside the residence. The person was detained outside the residence while officers searched interior, finding it to be clear. The dogs were retrieved without incident and the matter was forwarded to the Columbiana County Health Department for possible charges against the person.
