East Palestine

— Officers responded to North Market Street to a report of a suspicious person walking in the road and through yards at 3:48 p.m. on Nov. 5. Officers located the subject and it was determined he was having a medical issue and EMS was called.

— Officers responded at 3:07 p.m. on Nov. 5. to Mercy Health on North Market Street regarding threats being made. The subject making the threats was contacted and warned of his actions.

— Officers responded to McDonald’s on South Market to a report of a resident of East Rebecca Street advising that a juvenile had reported that “her boyfriend tried to assault her.”

County Sheriff

— A deputy spoke with a man who called at 2:53 p.m. Monday regarding his girlfriend’s grandchildren and an ongoing custody situation in Negley. He was told that custody issues are handled by the courts and law enforcement officers can only follow the current court documents in place. He was also told it’s a civil matter until there is a court order by the appropriate court. The caller advised he would go Thursday and return to the sheriff’s office with the appropriate court paperwork.

Columbiana

— Police investigated a suspicious vehicle on Bittersweet at around 12:30 a.m. Nov. 4.

— Jessica Jackson, of Columbiana, was cited at 5:47 p.m. Nov. 5, following a traffic stop on state Route 164.

— Officers responded along with EMS and the fire department at 8:55 a.m. Nov. 5 in the intersection of 14 and 46 for a possible injury accident.

— Hope Severs, of Columbiana was arrested at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 following a complaint at Riser Tavern that she had struck a parked vehicle and nearly struck pedestians then fled the scene.

— A traffic stop was conducted at 11:12 p.m. Nov. 9 in the 100 block of State Route 14. The unnamed driver was an entered missing person. After a short investigation, the matter was resolved. The driver was allowed to leave the traffic stop with no other law enforcement involvement.

Highway Patrol

–Andrew Bindel, of Stewart Road in Salem, was cited at 1:32 p.m. Nov. 3 in Fairfield Township after he failed to yield at the intersectio of state Route 7 and Heck Road and was struck by Doris Dustman of New Springfield.

–Cori Vassell, of Broadway Avenue in Wellsville, was cited at 12:52 a.m. Nov. 12 in Elkrun Township for failure to control, after driving off the right side of state Route 11 when southbound, rotating across both southbound lanes and coming to rest northbound on the left side of the road.

–Opal Rarick, of Salem was cited at 8:49 p.m. Nov. 11 for failure to control after he went off the right side of state Route 172 struck a ditch, culvert and guy wire.

–A crash involving Andrew Smith, of North Market Street in East Palestine, remains under investigation. Smith allegedly was eastbound on state Route 558 at 11:13 p.m. Nov. 8, when he went off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox, tree and speed limit sign before overturning and abandoning his vehicle.

–Joel Curtis, of Walnut Street in Salem was cited at 7:11 p.m. Nov. 10 for failure to control after driving off the right side of TR 861, striking an utility pole near state Route 558.

–Taylor Blanchard, of Union Avenue in Salem, was cited at 1:02 p.m. Nov. 10 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance after rear-ending the vehicle of Brandon Keck, of Diamond, which was eastbound on state Route 62 and stopped for a right turn.

–Rebecca Hawke of Salineville Road West in Salineville was cited at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 9, after allegedly striking a vehicle driven by Saracco-May, of Steubenville Pike Road in Lisbon at the intersection of CR406 and Route 644

–David Todd, of Elkton West Point Road in Lisbon was arrested on charges of OVI, receiving stolen property and failure to control at 11:35 a.m. Nov. 4, after being involved in a crash in Center Township. Todd allegedly was coasting southbound on St. Jacobs Logtown Road and went off the west side of the road before striking a sign. The red 1995 Dodge Ram that allegedly he was operating was stolen from the Rite Aid in Lisbon.

–David Grimm, of Sebring was arrested at 4:31 a.m. Nov. 6 in Knox Township for possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to control. The crash was initially reported as a possible hit-skip as Grimm was southbound on Knox School Road before driving off the left side of the road and striking a ditch twice and coming to rest after hitting a tree and leaving the scene. Investigators found a grass smoke device with burn marks inside the vehicle.
