Sheriff’s Office
— A representative of Italo’s, state Route 45, Lisbon, in Center Township, reported at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday that the restaurant received a counterfeit $20 bill. The counterfeit $20 bill was confiscated and put into the evidence room at the sheriff’s office.
— A representative of B & S Carryout, state Route 39, Washington Township, reported at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday that their mailbox was struck by a red Ford Ranger, which kept on driving.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday at Buffalo Road and Campbell Road, off the road in a ditch. When a deputy arrived, the suspicious vehicle was no longer on the scene. The area was checked in all directions, with no contact made with anyone.
Leetonia
— An officer stood bye for an EMS call at 3:12 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Columbia Street.
— Police pursued a juvenile runner at 11:46 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of Walnut toward Washingtonville as the youth had wanted to visit his uncle.
— An male subject on Somer Street wanted to file a report at 5:47 p.m. Oct. 31 against his daughter’s abusive boyfriend from an incident a year ago.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 4:42 p.m. Sunday for a reported person in distress. Officers spoke with the person in question, and it was determined that he would need to be transported to the emergency room for evaluation. The man then fought with officers and medical staff prior to transport to the emergency room, and officers stood by at the hospital until the man was stabilized.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 2:03 p.m. Sunday regarding criminal trespassing. He advised that he wanted a person trespassed from his property and completed a trespass form. Officers attempted to contact the person in question but were unable to
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue at 6:47 a.m. Sunday for a possible water line break. The water department was notified and will check on the issue.
— Officers on patrol in the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 1:25 a.m. Sunday located an intoxicated person, and officers gave them a courtesy ride back to his residence. The man was given a warning for disorderly conduct.
— Officers responded to Centennial Park at 9:31 p.m. Saturday for a noise complaint. When officers arrived, there was nobody in the area and the park was still open.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 5:37 p.m. Saturday for a reported civil matter. Officers were advised that a person was not getting out of a vehicle that the caller owned. Officers spoke with the person who advised that they owned the vehicle and were not going to give it back. Officers checked the title and registration of the vehicle and found that it belonged to the caller and the person gave the vehicle back to the caller.
— Officer spoke to a person at the police department at 5:11 p.m. Saturday who advised that someone unknown to her had taken her daughter’s iPhone from a business in the 2800 block of East State Street without her knowledge or permission. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 5:09 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised a person had tried to buy multiple gift cards and they were concerned they were being scammed. Officers spoke to the person, who advised they were buying the cards for her friend. While speaking with her officers found that the friend did not exist and that she was being scammed. The person advised she understood, and officers assisted her in finding a ride home.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Saturday for a report of a possible intoxicated man. The caller advised that man ran through the pool area and out the back doors. Officers searched all parking areas of the business and Waterworth Park and no man fitting the description was located.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 11:52 a.m. Saturday for a reported runaway. Officers located the juvenile in question walking on Ridgeway Drive and transported them back to the residence and spoke with them about their behavior.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Fair Avenue at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that a woman arrived at his residence, and he wanted them to leave. Officers advised the woman that since she didn’t live at the residence she needed to leave, and the woman gathered some of her belongings and left.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday for a report of possible identity theft. The person advised that they received a phone call from a company claiming to be a loan agency and after giving them their personal information became concerned about identity theft. Officers advised the caller to freeze all accounts and report any fraudulent charges to their credit card companies.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Eastview Drive at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday for a report of identity theft. The caller requested a credit report through a credit card company that stated their personal information was shared on the dark web and the company advised them to make a police report. The caller said they checked all their personal information, and nothing was out of place.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday for a registration check on a possible stolen plate. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— The school resource officer was advised by administrators at Southeast Elementary of an incident with a student that had ongoing issues with other students on the playground at recess at 12:59 p.m. Tuesday. All information was gathered, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Fair Avenue at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised that a woman has been staying with him and started to move their belongings into the residence. Officers advised them of the eviction process.
— Shirley Wonner, Beloit, was cited for left of center after her northbound vehicle on North Ellsworth Avenue traveled left of the center line while turning onto Second Street striking a vehicle driven eastbound on Second Street by Elke Sekosky, Salem, at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed by Kaiser Towing.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue at 9:32 a.m. Tuesday for an ongoing civil matter. The caller advised their neighbor was yelling at him and his workers while they were fixing a roof next door. Officers advised both parties the matter was civil and to stay away from each other until the work is complete.
— A pair of political signs were removed from the entrance to the polling location in the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 9:13 a.m. Tuesday. The signs were placed flat and out of view in a nearby rock landscape bed.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday for a civil matter. The caller advised that they were upset due to their neighbors putting a new roof on their home and shingles being blown onto her property, and that the contractors should not be working at the time of the complaint. The caller was advised of the noise ordinance times and that the contractors would pick up the singles with their permission.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:28 p.m. Thursday for a report of scam. The caller advised that he received a phone call from an unknown person who wanted him to buy a Home Depot gift card for a fundraiser and send it to them. The caller advised he got the gift card and sent it to them, but realized it was a scam. The caller advised he already contacted his bank and credit card company but wanted a report of file.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 9:45 a.m. Thursday who advised their nephew had not gone to school that day. Officers gathered information and were in the process of entering the juvenile into LEADS when he came back home.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Eighth Street at 7:46 a.m. Thursday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised a vehicle had been parked on the road for an extended amount of time without moving. Officers attempted to contact the owner but were unable to, and a red warning was left on the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:46 a.m. Thursday for a report of criminal mischief. The caller advised that a note was left by an afternoon shift employee that her husband witnessed a man spray painting a bicycle on the east side of the business leaving the sidewalk damaged. She was advised that a report would be filed and follow-up with the witness for a statement would occur, and photos were taken to document the damage.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 10:19 p.m. Wednesday for a reported barking dog complaint. Officers advised the owner to bring the dog inside if it barks.
— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fifth Street at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday for a hit and skip. Officers located the vehicle in question, which had damage to the passenger side, and conducted a traffic stop. Officers had the driver, Julie Smith, 45, Salem, complete field sobriety testing and they were taken into custody for OVI and officers transported them to the Canfield Highway Patrol Post for a breath test. The driver agreed to the breath test and blew a .164% blood alcohol content and was transported to the Salem Police Department for booking and was cited for OVI, reasonable control, and leaving the scene of an accident.
