Sheriff’s Office
— Brian Campbell, 37, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing, fifth-degree felony obstructing official business and fourth-degree felony resisting arrest after deputies were dispatched at 10:43 p.m. Monday to Cream Ridge Road regarding Campbell allegedly threatening to burn his father’s house down. When deputies arrived, he could allegedly be heard yelling in the woods and advising he was the lord. Upon seeing deputies, he continued to threaten them by raising a golf club above his head and making threats against the deputies and their families. Multiple commands were given for him to drop the golf club, but he continued to ignore all commands and threaten deputies. He was ultimately tased and taken into custody.
— Deputies responded at 1:52 p.m. Sunday to Malone Road, Washington Township, for a complaint of solicitation of sex acts involving an adult male, age 36, and juvenile females ages 10, 8 and 6 years old which began online. The male allegedly arranged an in-person meeting through a social media messenger service and was awaiting arrival of the juveniles via Uber at his residence, allegedly expecting to engage in sex acts with the juveniles. An investigation was conducted and a report taken. Evidence was seized on scene and turned over to the detective bureau and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force for follow up. Criminal charges were pending.
Highway Patrol
— James Leake, Sherman Street in Lisbon, was cited at 8:12 p.m. Oct. 24 in Madison Township for failure to control. Leake was northeast bound on state Route 518 when he tried to turn left onto U.S. Route 30 went off right side of the road, struck an embankment and fire hydrant.
— Neither driver was cited at 7:02 p.m. Oct. 23 in Salem Township after a private property crash in the private driveway of Kent State University Salem. Gracie Wood, of North Park Circle in East Liverpool, was stopped eastbound at the stop sign, when Gracielynn Lang, of Randolph, rearended her.
— Jeremy Byerly, of Third Street in Wellsville, was cited at 6:28 p.m. Oct. 31 for failure to control, after a single vehicle crash in Yellow Creek Township. He was southbound on old Irondale Road when he traveled off the left side of the road, struck and embankment and overturned his vehicle.
— Mackenzie Long, Garfield Street in Lisbon, was cited at 8:50 a.m. Nov. 1 in Center Township for improper backing. Long and Paul Boudreaux, of Votaw Boulevard in Lisbon, were both facing east on TR867 when Long backed into Boudreaux.
— Daniel Bader, of Sprucevale Road in Rogers, was cited at 7:25 a.m. Nov. 2 for failure to yield the right of way in Fairfield Township. Katie Rohaley, of Pine Street in Lisbon, was stopped southbound on state Route 164 at a stop sign. Rohaley was westbound on state Route 558 when he pulled from the stop sign and struck her before going off the right side of the road.
— William Priester, of Georgetown Road in Salem, was cited at 9:35 p.m. Oct. 25 in Perry Township for failure to control, after traveling off the left side of Georgetown Road and striking an embankment, brush and ditch before re-entering the roadway and going off the right side and striking mailbox, shed and tree limbs.
— Kevin Chamberlain, of Adams Road in Lisbon, was cited at 3:23 p.m. Oct. 31 in Salem Township for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after rearending a vehicle driven by Sharon Harris, of Chestnut Road in Lisbon.
— Susan Linger, of Richardson Avenue in Negley, was cited at 5:06 p.m. Oct. 31 in Middleton Township for failure to control, after traveling off the right side of state Route 170 while northbound.
— Charges still are pending against Matthew Bertolette, of Prospect Street in Columbiana, in regards to a three-vehicle crash on Oct. 25 in Unity Township. Bertolette was traveling northbound on state Route 165, when he went left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Ashley Irizarry, of Whitehill Road in East Palestine. Irizarry was forced into a vehicle driven by Sela Guy, of Brookdale Avenue in East Palestine, before being pushed off the right side of the road by Bertolette.
East Palestine
— Officers received a report of a nose complaint on West Martin Street at 4:16 p.m. on Monday.
— Officer received a report of disturbance on West Martin Street at 4:32 p.m. on Monday.
— Officers responded at 11:44 a.m. to East Clark Street on Sunday to a report of a juvenile being left home alone. Officers found the juvenile at the residence without adult supervision and took the child into custody. Officers made contact with the child’s parents who were at work. David and Scheufele, no ages provided, were each later charged with one count endangering children.
— Officers responded to East North Avenue at 10:02 a.m. on Saturday to a report of poetry damage from an unknown vehicle.
— Officers responded at 5:40 p.m. to a verbal altercation in the parking lot of Gorby’s on North Market Street on Saturday. Joshua Miniotas, no age or address, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
— A man came to the station at 5:41 p.m on Saturday to seek help for personal issues.
— Officers responded at 2:10 p.m. on Friday to the Kroll Derailment Settlement Center on Rebecca Street to escort a man off of the premises.
— Officers respond at 7:01 p.m. on Friday to the intersection of Bacon and Brookdale avenues to a report of a woman striking a deer with her car.
— Officers responded to Claybrook Drive on Friday to a report of a criminal mischief complaint. The residents advised she found her mail on the ground and some had been opened.
— Officers helped resolve an issue between juveniles at 7 p.m. on East Grant Street on Thursday.
— Officers responded to French Street at 3:53 p.m. to a report of ATVs in the woods. Officers were unable to locate any ATVs.
— Officers received a report of a theft involving a cell phone at 1:54 p.m. on Thursday.
— Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at 12:01 p.m. on state Route 14 on Thursday. Officers were unable to make contact with the subject.
— Officers responded to East Clark Street at 3:49 p.m. to a domestic on Tuesday. The caller advised her son had assaulted her daughter. Both declined to press charges.
— Officers responded at 10:44 a.m. to East Taggert Street to a report of someone causing an issue at a business on Tuesday.
— Officers responded at 11:41 p.m. to Ellis Street on Monday to a report of a suspicious person or vehicle. No vehicle or person was found at the residence.
— Officers took a report at 4:47 p.m on Monday from a resident of Wood Street regarding a situation that happened earlier that day.
— A female on Garfield Avenue reported at 2:42 p.m. on Oct. 28 that one of her employees needed to speak to an officer.
— Officers received a report at 1:55 p.m. on Oct. 28 of a resident on East Martin Street blowing leaves into the street.
— Officers arrested and charged Russell Waite, no age or address provided, for domestic violence after responding to 590 West North Avenue on Oct. 28 at 4:03 p.m.
— Officers responded at 9:55 p.m. on Oct. 27 of South Market Street for a possible domestic. The matter remains under investigation.
— Officers received a report from a resident on West Street of someone pounding on windows of a residence on Oct. 27.
— Officers responded at 12:25 p.m. to Bacon Avenue to a report of a domestic dispute on Oct. 27. Officers determined no violence had occurred and no arrests were made.
— Officers responded at 5:34 a.m. to East Main Street for a welfare check on Oct. 27.
— Officers accompanied a United States Secret Service Agent to Concord Drive at 12:42 p.m. to conduct an interview on Oct; 27.
— Officers responded at 1:03 a.m. to West Martin Street for a noise complaint on Oct. 27.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:48 a.m. Sunday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 8:51 p.m. Saturday to execute an arrest warrant. Officers arrested Preston Woods, 35, Salem, transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:39 a.m. Friday for a report of people walking along the roadway. When officers arrived, the person was inside the city with Salem officers on scene, and they were given a courtesy transport by the Salem officers.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:11 p.m. for a reported reckless driver. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle which was later located inside the city of Salem.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Plymouth Place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man dressed as Michael Myers who removed his mask and began to scream at children. Officers checked the area for the man but were unable to locate him.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday for a barking dog report. Officers spoke with the owner who advised they’d brought the dog in, and officers advised them to try and keep the dog quiet.
— Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 11:01 p.m. Monday for vehicles in the park after hours. Officers spoke with the occupants, advising them of the park’s hours and they left without an issue.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Stewart Road in Perry Township to serve a warrant at 7:54 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the man, Danny Shultz, Salem, taking him into custody and transporting him to the police department for booking then transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail. Shultz was also cited for driving under suspension stemming from the original incident.
— Officers responded to a report of a reckless driver entering the city on West State Street at 5:14 p.m. Monday. Officers located a vehicle that matched the description, but the license plate did not resemble the partial plate provided by the caller and officers did not observe any traffic violations.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 4 p.m. Monday for a report of a person allegedly threatening to harm themselves. Officers spoke with the person in question who was visibly upset and had numerous mild lacerations on the right bicep just below the shoulder. The individual was reluctant to talk with officers but did make several admissions of wanting life to end and giving up. He did not want assistance from officers or medical personnel, and he was advised that because he wanted to harm himself, he did not have an option and would have to go for treatment. The individual was then voluntarily transported for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:35 p.m. Monday for a reported hold up alarm which dispatch advised had been triggered by an employee in response to a man grabbing several articles of merchandise and fleeing the store without rendering payment. Officers observed the man on video footage and broadcasted a more detailed description for other officers after which officers located and stopped the man on Ohio Avenue. The man, Donovain Casey, 18, Lisbon, was still wearing a stolen hat and admitted to the shoplifting and to having already eaten stolen food items. Casey was taken into custody and transported to the police department for processing, and during a search incident to arrest located drug abuse instruments and suspected narcotics. Casey was subsequently transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with theft and possession of drug abuse instruments.
