Sheriff’s Office
— St. Clair Township Police called at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday to request deputies go to a residence on Steubenville Pike Road, Wayne Township, to make contact with a woman wanted on a warrant. Deputies made contact with Trinity S.P. Lewis, who resides in East Liverpool, and she was turned over to St. Clair Township Police. Lewis, 18, Norton Street, appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Thursday, pleading no contest and being found guilty of assault for pulling another woman to the ground and punching her on Oct. 30 at Walmart in Calcutta. She’s scheduled to face sentencing on Nov. 12.
— A man on state Route 45, Salem Township, called at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday to request a welfare check on his 8-year-old grandson who is at his mother’s residence on Depot Road, Hanover Township. A deputy spoke with child who was fine.
— A woman on Depot Road, Hanover Township, at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday requested her mother-in-law, who resides at state Route 45, Salem Township, be removed from her property. Upon a deputy arriving, the mother-in-law had left the property in her vehicle. The woman was advised how to obtain a protection order.
— A woman from North Las Vegas, Nevada, called at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday to request a welfare check on her brother at Fairmont Road, Elkrun Township. A deputy spoke with him and he was fine and was with his wife.
Leetonia
— Jimmy Anderson, no address listed, was arrested at 10:13 a.m. Wednesday of charges of menacing and resisting arrest, after he had returned to the 600 block of Walnut Street. He had trespassed here previously. Officers handcuffed him to transport him to the cruiser, and he directly death threats and vulgar language to them as they transported him to jail.
— Upon making contact with the driver of a SUV traveling left of center on state Route 344 near Hazel at 9:01 a.m. Friday, the officer spoke who advised that he was tired and was going to pull in the Family Dollar parking lot and rest for a bit before continuing on.
— Police responded at 12:45 p.m. Thursday to the first block of Pine Street for a suicidal male. He was volunteering transported to the hospital by Leetonia EMS for evaluation.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:13 a.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious man on a bicycle. Officers located the man and were able to transport him back to his residence.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Stewart Road at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday to assist Salem officers in following up from a pursuit. Officers stood by and assisted until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday to assist Salem officers with a suicidal man. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Conser Drive at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers found the man to be a door-to-door solicitor for a waterproofing service. Officers advised the man a permit was required, and he was picked up by his company and left the area.
— Officers on patrol in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:46 a.m. Wednesday located a suspicious vehicle. Officers found the vehicle to be secured and unoccupied.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 6:26 p.m. Tuesday for a suspicious vehicle complaint. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Julia Chappelear, 24, New Waterford, was cited for failure to yield after her southbound vehicle on North Ellsworth Avenue failed to yield at the intersection of North Ellsworth and U.S. Route 62, causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven eastbound by William Thomas, 57, Salem, which then spun into a vehicle driven by Linda Crider, 66, Beloit, at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday. All vehicles were towed from the scene.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday to assist Salem officers with a domestic incident. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
— Officers on patrol in the area of Egypt Road near Cry Baby Bridge at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday located a suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver advising them there was no trespassing and to leave the area.
— Emmanuel Heestand, 22, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his southbound vehicle at the intersection of Jennings Avenue and state Route 45 struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Jaylen Smith, 31, Canfield.
Salem
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a vehicle driving erratically. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, finding the owner was transporting an elderly man to the Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Department. Officers ensured they arrived at their destination safely.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday for a report of child abuse. Officers collected information and the matter will be looked into.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue and Aetna Street at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that the vehicle had been sitting in the same spot for several months. Officers observed the vehicle to have an expired registration and to appear as if it had not been moved for several weeks. Officers placed a 48-hour tow away ticket on the vehicle and a parking ticket for a vehicle parked on a public roadway with expired registration.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Contact was made with the person in question and was transported to the hospital by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East School Street at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday for a reported child screaming. Officers checked the area but no problems, nor disturbances could be located.
— Officers on patrol in the 100 block of Ohio Avenue at 12:43 p.m. Thursday observed a vehicle parked in a no parking zone. A pink ticket was issued to the vehicle for the infraction.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 12:34 p.m. Thursday for a report of check fraud. The caller advised that the business received two bad checks from the bank with different names on them. Both checks were made out to businesses, one from Ohio and one from Wisconsin, but both checks were cashed in Arkansas to a man and woman.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:38 a.m. Thursday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with a woman who advised that she was struck in the face multiple times with a closed fist by an unknown man. The woman had visible injuries to her face and the fire department and EMT responded to the scene to treat the woman who was later transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The man, Ryan Thompson, Salem, was arrested for assault and taken to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 1:25 a.m. Thursday for a reported shoplifting complaint. The caller advised the person in question left prior to officers’ arrival and the caller advised that she believed all merchandise was collected from the suspect who is homeless. The caller declined to file any charges, and the immediate area was searched but they were unable to be located.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Granite Avenue at 10:41 a.m. Thursday for a barking dog complaint. Officers observed two dogs in a dog pen who only started barking when they saw officers. Officers attempted contact at the residence, but nobody answered.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 10:21 a.m. Thursday for a report of debris in the roadway. The sign was removed from the roadway prior to officers’ arrival.
