Sheriff’s Office
— A person was reported making suicidal threats at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday on Margaret Lane, Knox Township. A deputy spoke with the person, who said everything was fine and no suicidal threats were made.
— A woman on state Route 7, Middleton Township, reported at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday that a drone was flying over her property and she wanted a report on file.
— An attempted burglary was reported at 5:41 a.m. Oct. 12 on Osbourne Road, Madison Township, where deputies located an intoxicated female who was unaware of her location. She did not do any damage, but did attempt several times to open a rear door. She was checked out by West Point EMS due to some injuries she had on her legs and head. The complainant did not wish to press any charges and asked that the woman not return to her property. The woman was given a courtesy ride home.
— A disturbance was reported at 12:42 a.m. Oct. 12 on Madison Drive in Madison Township, with a deputy and a Liverpool Township officer responding. A person who did not live there was refusing to leave but did leave before officers arrived. Persons at the residence said there was only a verbal disturbance, no one was physically assaulted.
— A possible domestic disturbance was reported at 1:59 a.m. Oct. 11 on Grant Street, Rogers where a woman said two relatives had been arguing and both left, although neither one drives. Deputies checked the area for them, but did not find them.
— A possible prowler was reported at 11:37 p.m. Oct. 10 on Maple Hill Road, Salineville. The area was checked but there was no evidence of any persons being on the property.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Pidgeon Road at 7:46 p.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised someone was squirting an unknown substance at him. When officers arrived, they were advised police were not needed.
— Marta Hernandez, 22, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle at the intersection of Georgetown Road and state Route 45 struck a vehicle driven by Jeanette Stone, 73, Salem at 5:05 p.m. Sunday. All parties signed refusal for treatment and Sinsley’s Towing responded and removed the vehicles.
— Officers responded to the intersection of Georgetown Road and Prospect Street at 2:33 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles throwing rocks at vehicles. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any juveniles.
— Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of West State Street at 2:02 p.m. Saturday for the Salem Police Department. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 12:42 a.m. Saturday for a report of a man hearing voices. While officers were on scene the man was claiming to see other people that were not around. EMT responded to the check on the man, who was still seeing and hearing things in front of first responders. EMT advised that they could not transport the man for said actions. The man was advised to contact medical professionals if he continued having the same troubles.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Georgetown Road at 9:44 p.m. Friday for a reported one vehicle serious injury accident. Officers found the vehicle had gone off the roadway into a tree. The Highway Patrol responded to handle the crash. The Salem Police Department, fire department, and EMT also responded.
— Officers responded to the 1600 block of Chestnut Grove at 5:59 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious package. The caller advised that a box was delivered to her home with no markings, and she had not ordered anything. Officers assisted in opening the package and determined it to be mail order medication.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Cider Mill Road at 8:42 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the person in question abruptly resigned that morning at the school, leaving his keys and a note and couldn’t be reached by phone. Officers spoke with the man and found him to be fine.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:47 a.m. Thursday to assist Salem officers with a stolen vehicle. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— Officers spoke with a woman by phone at 3:06 p.m. Oct. 23 regarding her cat which had been shot. The caller advised her cat had a small hole near its shoulder and was found dead near the roadway.
Salem
— Officers heard an altercation involving a vehicle in the 900 block of East State Street at 10:53 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle involved was located and stopped on Depot Road and the driver advised someone was following too closely and he got out and started yelling at them. Nothing physical occurred.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of South Madison Avenue at 10:21 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised kids were riding their four-wheelers through her yard and knocking on the residence. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of East State Street at 7:27 p.m. Saturday for a report of an intoxicated driver. The caller advised a person at the drive-thru appeared to be intoxicated. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, observing the driver to have indicators of impaired driving. Officers attempted to conduct a field sobriety test, but the driver, Brian McCaslin, 48, Salem, refused, becoming combative, and was taken into custody and transported to the police department where he was offered and refused a breath test. Once paperwork was completed McCaslin was cited for OVI and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:31 p.m. Saturday for a reported disturbed person. Officers were advised by the caller that three people were inside her home but had left prior to officers’ arrival. Officers were advised the individuals had been inside the house for the last several days. Officers checked the house and surrounding area but did not locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 3:24 p.m. Saturday for a report of harassment. The caller advised they had not stopped texting him since an eviction was served over the last week. Despite the person having moved out of the residence he continued to text the caller. Officers spoke with the person in question, advising him to cease all contact with the caller or face possible charges, and they advised they understood.
— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:50 p.m. Saturday for a missing person report. The caller advised her friend left the hospital on foot with her dog and that she has dementia. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the woman. Officers spoke with the security officers at the hospital and were able to watch security cameras which located the woman who was still in the hospital. Officers spoke with the woman and walked her back to her friend.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:56 a.m. Saturday for a reported hit and skip. The caller advised he observed a vehicle back into the rear of their vehicle before leaving the scene of the accident. The matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Third Street at 4:06 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a distraught woman standing in the middle of the roadway screaming. Officers located the woman in question, advising her of the complaint, and she advised that an animal had scared her, and nothing was needed.
— Officers on patrol in the area of East State Street and Woodland Avenue at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle commit multiple moving violations, conducting a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East State Street. Officers observed the driver, Alee Keyes,18, East Liverpool, to have red glossy eyes and the vehicles to smell like alcohol with an open case of twisted teas in the vehicle. Officers collected the open case, other open containers, and marijuana located in the vehicle, and Keyes declined a field sobriety test. Officers took Keyes into custody for OVI and underage consumption, and took the passenger, Shane Murphy, 19, Lisbon, into custody for underage consumption. Officers transported both to the police department for processing before transporting them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers on patrol in the 300 block of West Tenth Street at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday were informed of a suspicious intoxicated man walking in the area after having cut through the backyard of a residence. The man was located at his residence and was advised to stay of the yard of the other residence and not to be walking around in public intoxicated. The person apologized for his actions.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 9:31 p.m. Tuesday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with all parties which led to one of the parties, Nicholas Edwards, 34, Salem, being placed under arrest for attempting to kick the door in to the residence and assaulting one of the residents when they came outside to see what was going on. Edwards was transported to the police department for processing and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with assault and breaking and entering.
— Officers on patrol in the 1800 block of East State Street at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday observed a man with an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spoke with the man, Nicholas Wolfe, 44, Lisbon, confirmed the warrant and took him into custody locating contraband on his person. Officers took the Wolfe into custody and contraband was located on his person. Officers transported the Wolfe to the Columbiana County Jail charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to the warrant.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday for a report of theft. The woman advised that her 16-year-old son was riding his bike on Ohio Avenue when a man known to him approached him and stole his cell phone. The juvenile advised that no threats were made, but he believes the person is upset with him for blocking him on social media. The caller advised that she was not concerned about pressing charges if the phone was returned.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. Contact was made with the person in question who advised everything was okay and nothing was needed.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:44 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with all parties involved and they were provided with the options for dealing with the situation. All parties advised they would stay away from each other for the remainder of the evening.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with both parties who advised that the argument was over family issues and nothing physical had occurred. The caller advised they were going to try to go to a friend’s house for the evening.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday to assist adult probation with a city resident. Officers learned the person in question no longer lived at the address.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday for a reported fire. The fire was located in the backyard of a residence.
