Sheriff's Office
-- A deputy was dispatched at 12:53 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Georgetown Damascus Road, Butler Township, for some type of disturbance, possibly people fighting. The deputy checked the area, but found no one.
-- At 12:21 a.m. Saturday, a deputy was dispatched to Middle Street, Knox Township for a welfare check on a person walking and needing a ride. The deputy spoke with the person at Homeworth and Buck roads, Knox Township, and the person was provided a courtesy ride to the Alliance, Stark County line on U.S. Route 62.
-- A domestic dispute was reported at 11:43 p.m. Saturday on Lake Point Drive, Knox Township.
Highway Patrol
-- Shelley Hernandez, of Washington Street in Lisbon, was cited at failure to control at 1:08 p.m. Oct. 9, after going off the right side of East Liverpool Road while northbound and striking a guardrail and utility pole.
-- Tyler Smith, of Duke Road in East Liverpool, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Oct. 9 in Madison Township on charges of OVI, improper handling of a firearm and failure to control, after a single-vehicle crash on state Route 267 in Madison Township. Despite telling first responders that the damage to his vehicle was due to hitting a deer, there was no evidence of that and he tested with a .210 BAC.
-- Kenneth Miller Jr. of Salineville Road in Salineville, was cited at 4:27 p.m. Oct. 10 in Madison Township for traveling left of center, after he was westbound on Cameron Road and struck an eastbound car driven by Frank Smith Jr., of Sines Road in Wellsville.
-- Michael Halligan, of Harvey Road in Lisbon, was cited at 1:49 p.m. Oct. 12 for failure to control, after he failed to negotiate a curve while southbound on state Route 165 and hit a ditch.
-- Gerald Plavi, of Indiana, Pa., was cited at 4:46 p.m. Oct. 12 in Elkrun Township for failure to control, after failing to negotiate a curve and going off state Route 154 while traveling eastbound.
-- No citations were issued for Michael Kohen, a bus driver for EDI of Sprucevale Road in East Liverpool, or Corra Moser, of Saltwell Road, after they were traveling in opposite directions on Saltwell Road and their driver side mirrors collided.
-- Ashley Chaney, of Houston, Texas, was cited at 2:13 a.m. Oct. 9 in Hanover Township, after her vehicle traveled off the left side of the road as it was traveling eastbound on state Route 172 and struck a guardrail and pole.
-- Shea Ruiz, of Youngstown, was cited for failure to yield the right of way when turning left after her northbound vehicle turned in front of Olivia Hardgrove, of King Road In Salem, onto state Route 9 from a private drive.
-- John Ayers, of Knox School Road in Minerva, was cited at 9:04 p.m. Oct. 15 for failure to control, after going off the right side of the road while traveling northwest bound on state Route 172 and striking a ditch before overturning.
Lisbon
-- Officers made contact with a woman on East Washington Street on Oct. 10 at 1:08 p.m. after receiving a complaint from a neighbor that alleged her dog was defecating on the neighbor's property.
-- Officers responded to a residence on Lincoln Avenue at 12:04 p.m. on Oct. 10 after receiving a report of a dog left in a car. At the scene, the owner of the vehicle said the dog had not been in the car for an hour as was reported before taking the dog into the house.
-- Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on East Lincoln Way at 1:51 p.m. on Oct. 10.
-- Officers responded at 9:30 a.m. to the Hornsby House on Rose Drive on Oct. 14 to assist Northstar with a transport.
-- Officers responded to a Smith Oil on East Lincoln Way to a report of a customer that drove off without paying for $9.36 in fuel. At 12:43 p.m. on Oct. 14. Employees were able to provide the license plate number and an officer made contact with the customer who advised that she pumped $45 dollars, paid with her debit card and had a receipt reflecting that amount. Employees said that the customer pumped the $9.36 before turning off the pump and paying for the $45 which was then pumped. Smith Oil asked for a report to be filed.
-- Officers responded at 9:19 a.m. on Tuesday to a report of suspicious subjects at Nourish Cafe on South Park Avenue. The caller advised the men were attempting to open the doors of several cars. Officers made contact with the subjects and one advised he had left his windows down and had to re-enter his car to put them up. He said he did not attempt to enter any other car but his own.
-- A man came to the station at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday to advise he was in town to clean out his mother's house and noticed items missing from the attic including sports memorabilia, a coin collection and some of his mother's jewelry. The man said he was unsure when the items were taken. Officers took a report.
-- Officers made contact with the owner of a camper parked on the road at 10:28 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers advised the resident that the camper was parked too close to the stop sign and needed moved as soon as possible.
Leetonia
-- An officer responded at 6:54 p.m. Sunday in the area of Mill Street to a mentally ill person. Upon arrival, no one found.
-- Police found a missing woman out of Salem at 1:38 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Leetonia American Legion and transported her to the police station, where she as released to her son.
-- No citations were noted for a two-vehicle traffic crash at 4:08 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Butcher Road.
-- A vehicle was rearended at 3:06 p.m. Friday while stopped at a train crossing on Chestnut Avenue.
-- Two male door-to-door solicitors from Direct Energy were stopped at 2:08 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Somer Street. Alexander Bates and Ethan Krentz was checked through the LEADS system and then advised of no solicitation within village limits and requested to stop and leave the area.
-- Officers were notified to look out for a 15-year-old juvenile female from Washingtonville who may have walked into their village limits at 5:11 p.m. Thursday. Within around a half hour, the juvenile was with Christina Zepernick of Leetonia Schools, alleging she had been abused by her guardians for some time now. She was released to another family member until Monday. The incident continues to be under investigation.
-- A Salineville man reported at 6:04 p.m. Friday that he was documenting any issues associated with custody exchanges since July and wanted something on record for court purposes.
-- A suspicious vehicle parked at 3:47 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Somer Street was found to belong to an non-permitted door-to-door energy solicitor.
-- While on routine patrol, an officer observed a motor vehicle operating on the bike trail at 4:49 p.m. Oct. 16 in the area of Washington and Main Streets. The driver allegedly said he had been given permission to operate the vehicle on the trail, which a trail spokesman denied. No action taken.
-- An officer responded at 3:04 a.m. Oct. 16 to an alarm drop in first block of Hazel Street a dollar store. Everything was fine upon arrival.
-- A disabled vehicle with their four-way lights on was reported at 8:28 p.m. Oct. 15 in the roadway at an unspecified location. A tow truck was called.
-- Robert C. Cochran Jr., no address provided, was cited at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 15 in the area of state Route 344 and Lisbon Street for driving under suspension, after a routine traffic stop. Upon a search of the vehicle, marijuana and contraband was found. An alleged legal driver, "Harley Burpo," came to the scene to take possession of Cochran's vehicle and was given a verbal warning for failure to use his turn signal when driving off. failure to signal.
-- Police responded at 4:04 p.m. Oct. 15 to a custody dispute in the 400 block of Somer Street.
Salem
-- Officers on patrol in the area of South Avenue and East Perry Street at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle on South Lincoln without a working plate light. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found the driver Charles Dorsey to have an active warrant out of Columbiana County, and he was detained while the warrant was confirmed. Once the warrant was confirmed he was placed into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers were flagged down by a concerned resident in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday who advised that a woman at a nearby business was walking into traffic. Officers spoke with the woman who advised that there were people with invisibility suits around, trucks driving by were controlling people, and her psychic powers had damaged her eyes. The fire department and EMT were requested to the scene and the woman was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
-- Zachary Nastari, 21, Hanoverton, was cited for driving under suspension after his westbound vehicle on East State Street was observed without a working plate light at 10:40 p.m. Monday.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:51 p.m. Monday for a reported breaking and entering complaint. The caller advised that multiple items had been stolen from his apartment but was unable to give any descriptions on those items. Officers advised the caller a police report would be made.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 6:58 p.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised there was an older woman in the store that did not remember where she lived. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she forgot everything and didn't remember where she lived or what direction she walked from. The woman did have her credit card which had her name on it, and officers searched her name and found out where she lives. Officers requested medical care for her because she advised she never forgets where she lives, and she was transported to the hospital.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:40 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that she left her hair styling duffel bag in her car on Friday and that one Monday the bag which contained multiple cosmetology items was massing from her car. Officers advised a report would be on file.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 2:18 p.m. Monday who advised that she was at a business in the 500 block of East Pershing Street and while in her vehicle an unknown group of men on motorcycles circled around her vehicle and followed her to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue and continued on. She was advised that a report would be on file.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:43 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that a man had thrown a beer bottle at one of the business' windows and shattered it. Officers observed the window to be shattered with glass from a beer bottle on the ground beneath it and the person in question, who was still on scene, to be heavily intoxicated and unable to speak English. The man, Manuel Perez, 30, Salem, was taken into custody for criminal damaging and disorderly conduct, and he was transported to the police department where a translator responded to assist. He was later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that sometime overnight his weed eater had been taken from his shed and he was unsure who may have taken it.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Arch Street at 3:11 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal damage. The caller advised that someone had broken the fire exit sign in the building. Officers documented the damage and provided the caller with a report number.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue at 2:24 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that one of the neighborhood juveniles had entered multiple vehicles and rummaged through them. Officers spoke with the juvenile and his mother about the incident, and the juvenile admitted to going into the vehicle. Officers advised the juvenile of the consequences if he did it again.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 2:03 a.m. Wednesday for a noise complaint. The caller advised that two people were outside talking loudly and that this is a recurring issue. Officers spoke with the people in question and advised them to keep it down for the night.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:34 a.m. Wednesday for a reported vehicle breaking and entering. The caller advised that he noticed papers outside one of the vehicles in his parking lot and papers thrown on the passenger side floor of the vehicle. He also advised that he has the incident on video but the person in question is well hidden and he just wanted to make a report. Officers advised that a report would be filed.
-- Officers observed a man matching the description of a person with an active warrant in the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 12:16 a.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the man and found him to be someone else.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday for an unknown problem. It was found that a woman was outside of the business yelling at patrons. Officers advised her of the complaint and to leave the property for the night.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious people loitering in the parking lot. Officers spoke with them, and they advised they were charging their electrical devices, officers advised them to move along for the night which they did without incident.
-- Officers responded to the 2200 block of Lexington Avenue at 10:34 p.m. Tuesday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that a snake was on her couch. Officers attempted to locate the snake but were unable.
-- Officers on patrol in the 500 block of East State Street at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday spoke with a man to follow up regarding a prior report. Officers observed the man carrying an open container of alcoholic beverage and to be heavily intoxicated. The man, Ryan Armstrong, 39, Salem, had been warned several times by officers in the past for being intoxicated in public and was placed into custody for disorderly conduct and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
