Sheriff’s Office
— A woman on Bates Road, West Township, reported at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday that her daughter was moving out of the residence and was taking her items. She was advised to contact an attorney.
— A deputy was dispatched at 9:50 p.m. Saturday to the Tipsy Farmer Winery, Speidel Road, Hanover Township, for two suspicious people on the property. They were gone when the deputy arrived.
— Deputies were dispatched at 7:36 p.m. Saturday to the Elkton federal prison on Scroggs Road for a trespass report. Calvin Duren, 45, Port Huron, Mich., was charged with criminal trespass and taken to the county jail. He appeared recently in Columbiana County Municipal Court for arraignment the charge.
— A woman on Elkton Road, Elkrun Township, reported at 6:12 p.m. Oct. 2 that there was a burglary at her residence.
Perry Township
–Officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:50 a.m. Monday. The driver, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody by Salem officers for pending charges.
–Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 10:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment via Facebook.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Jones Drive at 2:13 p.m. Sunday for a reported barking dog complaint. Officers spoke to the animal’s owner and advised her of the issue and that she needed to keep the animals from continuously barking. The owner advised she would quiet the dogs down.
–Officers responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 at 6:39 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. The caller advised that the vehicle turned off before coming into the area.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of East Third Street at 1:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of two men standing outside a residence with firearms threatening the homeowner. When officers arrived, they discovered the incident to be a prank call and that no threat to public safety existed.
–Officers assisted Salem officers with a traffic stop n the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and State Street at12:02 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was observed at a high rate of speed while making other violations as officers joined Salem. As the level of risk escalated Ohio State Highway Patrol took over.
–Officers responded to the 34000 block of Salem Grange Road at 6:12 p.m. Friday to assist the Columbiana County Sherriff’s Office. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
–Herbert Hebron, 51, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Hayli White, 61, Columbiana, in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:43 a.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
–Tyler Reinarts, 22, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Raymond Martinelli, 61, Salem on Georgetown Road at 5:17 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
–Officers spoke to a person by phone at 10:08 a.m. Thursday for a reported animal complaint. The caller advised that a small black bulldog comes to his house constantly and he cannot figure out who owns the dog. The caller advised the dog is very friendly and he was concerned that it would eventually be hit by a car.
Leetonia
— An officer responded at 12:37 p.m. Sunday to an alarm drop at the Leetonia water plant. After checking, everything seemed fine, so he cleared.
— Police investigated Friday a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside the Leetonia school in the 400 block of Walnut. The owner was out of Youngstown and no one claimed the vehicle so eventually it was towed.
— An alarm drop was reported at 4 a.m. Friday in the first block of Walnut Street. After trying to make contact with the resident and checking to make sure the residence was secured, the officer cleared the scene.
— A juvenile dispute between cousins was reported at 4:21 p.m. Saturday at Wick Park. The one boy’s mother wanted a report for future reference.
— Police were dispatched at 8:42 a.m. Sunday to an auction house near the Tipsy Cow, where a caller advised they could hear cows mooing from the barns. An officer responded and checked all buildings and was unable to locate any cows.
— An officer was sent shortly after midnight Monday for an alarm drop at the Leetonia school. Upon arrival, he spoke with subjects delivering dairy products for the school.
— Alexis Finocchi, address unknown, was cited at 8:40 p.m. Monday on state Route 344 near old 344 for driving without a driver’s license and an equipment failure for her plate light. Her vehicle was seized. Neither Finocchi nor her passenger had valid driver’s licenses.
Salem
–Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 11:54 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the caller and the female half, determining the male half had caused serious physical harm to the female half and stole her vehicle. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen. Charges were filed for the man. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but were unable to, and the incident is under investigation.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Jennings Avenue at 5:51 p.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and found there was a 21-gun salute for a military funeral taking place.
–Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard and South Lincoln Avenue at 5:18 p.m. Sunday for a report of debris in the roadway. The caller advised that he thought a person was dumping tires. Officers checked the area, but nothing was located.
–Officers responded to the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:09 p.m. Sunday for a reported suspicious object. The caller advised that she located a bottle in the garage that she thought could possibly be related to illegal narcotics. Officers observed the object to be a makeshift marijuana bong.
–Officers responded to the 2200 block of Bentley Drive at 3:05 p.m. Sunday for a report of littering. Officers found that an unknown person had placed three garbage bags onto the curb lawn.
–Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln and Franklin Avenue at 2:47 p.m. Sunday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers located the item and found that someone had already taken it out of the roadway and placed it into the curb lawn.
–Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 1:42 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers spoke to a group of juveniles about how to act while at a city park if they want to continue enjoying it.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 12:59 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised the landlord was trying to make him leave after living at the residence for several months. Officers spoke with both parties. The landlord was advised of the eviction process.
–Officers on patrol in the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 6:59 a.m. Sunday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at a residence in the city. Officers stood by while the deputy served papers.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Perry Street at 2:18 a.m. Sunday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop at 2:18 a.m. Sunday. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
–Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:55 p.m. Saturday for a loud music complaint. Officers spoke with the residents and advised them to keep it down.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:25 p.m. Saturday for a noise complaint. The caller advised of multiple men next door to her residence who were partying outside very loudly. Officers spoke with them and asked them to keep the noise down.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 7:56 p.m. Saturday for a report of dogs running toward the caller aggressively then going away. Officers spoke with the caller who was unharmed but wanted a report to document the matter.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:44 p.m. Saturday for a reported custody issue. The caller asked if she had to give the juveniles back to his father if he wanted him, and officers advised she would have to go by what her court paperwork said. She advised she understood.
–Officers responded to the 1700 block of Merle Road at 1:54 p.m. Saturday for a reported fire. Officers found the homeowner had attempted to burn some vegetation in his front yard with a weed torch and subsequently ignited some small bushes and a tree. A neighbor had most of the fire out prior to officers’ arrival on scene. The department extinguished the remaining fire and spoke with the homeowner about the dangers of what he had done.
–Officers responded with the fire department to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 12:10 p.m. Saturday for a smoke investigation. Officers found a person outside with an illegal burn pit. The fire department advised him of how and when he could have a fire and gave him a warning.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of Legacy Lane at 11:42 a.m. Saturday for a report of disorderly person. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised he was trying to return an item, and that store would not accept it, admitting that she had become irate. Officers spoke with store employees who wanted them trespassed from the property and officers advised him of the same and she signed a trespass notice.
–Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fairview Avenue at 10:38 a.m. Saturday for a report of a runaway juvenile. Officers gathered all pertinent information to enter the juvenile into LEADS, but he was located a short time later. The juvenile was transported back to the residence.
–Chelsey Reynolds, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her eastbound vehicle on East State Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Morgan Sheen, alliance, at 10:07 a.m. Saturday. Sheen, and two juvenile passengers from their vehicle, and a juvenile passenger from Reynolds’ vehicle were transported by ambulance with unknown injuries.
–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 9:42 a.m. Saturday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that the person in question had been making derogatory remarks to an employee and wanted him trespassed from the property. Officers attempted to contact them but were unable to do so. The person ultimately signed a trespass form later that day.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Twelfth Street at 7:31 a.m. Saturday for a report of a loud explosion. Prior to their arrival officers learned the explosion occurred outside the city.
–Officers responded to the 1300 block of Eastview Drive at 6:32 a.m. Saturday for a wellness check requested by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Officers were advised that they had located the person in question’s vehicle in the jurisdiction unoccupied. Officers spoke to the person’s wife who advised he was out hunting. She was provided a phone number to contact the Stark Count Sherriff’s Office.
