— Officers responding to a call of a person with possible mental disorder roaming around Summit Drive trying to get into cars on Sept. 20, found the person to be under duress and called North Star to transport him to the hospital.
— Kaylee Congrove was issued a citation for expired tags following a Sept. 20 traffic stop on state Route 170. The vehicle was towed by Calcutta Towing.
— Officers took a report from a male on Sept. 20 for a person who was known to him swerve his vehicle at him while driving past him on Y&O Road.
— Amanda Eltringham, 31, (address not provided) was released from Walmart on Sept. 21 with charges pending Grand Jury for indictment after officers responded to the store for her failing to pay for 177 items totaling $1,253.59.
— Amber Leaisure, 41, was charged with petty theft and given a summons to appear in court after officers responded to Walmart on Sept. 21 for a report of her failing to scan and pay for 30 items that totaled $314.78.
— Officers responded to a private property crash on state Route 170 on Sept. 21.
— Officers responded on Sept. 22 to Walmart for a report of a shopping cart hitting a parked car.
— Officers responded to Walmart on Sept. 26 for a private property crash.
— Officers responded to McDonald’s on state Route 170 on Sept.. 27 for a report of a verbal argument over a drink order.
— Officers responded to Walmart on Sept. 27 for a report of a cart striking and damaging a car parked in the lot.
— Officers responded on Sept. 28 to Dunkin Donuts for a private property crash report.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Street at 12:24 a.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man was knocking on the door and not leaving. The man left prior to officers’ arrival, and could not be located, and the caller was advised to contact officers if the man returned.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 12:02 a.m. Friday for a report of two people fighting. Officers found the matter to be a verbal altercation only between a man and woman. Officers found the male half had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and fled prior to their arrival, and officers checked the area but were unable to locate him. The woman was advised to contact officers if the man returned.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 7:24 p.m. Thursday to check for a person with an active warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Wesley Clark, 34, Salem, confirming the warrant and took him into custody. Officers transported him to the police department for processing prior to transportation to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 6:51 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that the title of her vehicle was stolen by two individuals known to her. She advised that she just discovered the title missing and the two suspected of taking it were at her residence a couple days ago. Upon checking reports, it was found that the caller had already reported her vehicle stolen as well as other items from the apartment.
— Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue and West Wilson Street 6:38 p.m. Thursday for a reported dispute between a man and a woman. Officers found the involved parties were in a former relationship and having a verbal altercation. Further investigation discovered the woman involved had an active warrant out of Columbiana County. The warrant was confirmed and the woman, Delaney Veon, 21, Salem, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 3:54 p.m. Thursday for a juvenile complaint. The juvenile in question had been loitering in front of another juvenile’s residence and had allegedly been witnessed shoving the other juvenile’s mother when she began to walk up the street to talk to their parent. The issue of the juvenile in question bullying the caller’s son has been previously reported in a separate report, and officers spoke with a neighbor that witnessed the incident and observed video footage of the offending actions in front of the caller’s residence. The caller advised that she did not want to pursue charges but wanted officers to speak with the juvenile and their mother about the ongoing issue. Officers responded to the juvenile’s residence in the 100 block of West Fifth Street and spoke with him in his mother’s presence, explaining the error of his behavior and potential consequences if he did not stop bothering the other juvenile. Officers advised the juvenile to cease any further contact with the other juvenile and that he is not to stop in front of the caller’s residence when walking home from school. The juvenile acknowledged that he understood and his mother reinforced officers’ comments.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street at 3:37 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person complaint. The caller advised that a person came into the store, supposedly stole three items and when asked to leave started to act irate, scaring other customers, and that they would like them to be criminally trespassed from the property. Officers spoke with the person in question, advising them of the complaint, and that they had been trespassed from the property, but they refused to sign the paperwork.
— Christina Welbert, Lorain, was cited for passing on the right after her westbound vehicle on East State Street was struck in the side by a vehicle driven by Bradley Miller, Salem, while attempting to pass at 3:32 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Sixth Street at 1:32 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised of several individuals going in and out of an apartment. Officers checked the area and observed nobody outside nor anything criminal.
— The school resource officer was advised by a student that they were receiving inappropriate messages over social media from an unknown person at 1:19 p.m. Thursday. The officer documented the incident and advised her to block the unknown person.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Monroe Street at 12:24 p.m. Thursday for a reported scam. Information was gathered for a report and investigation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 10:50 a.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that two individuals were inside their residence, and they believe they stole their jewelry. Photographs were obtained and a police report was made.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Robin Avenue at 8:09 a.m. Thursday for a report of an unknown man in the backyard of a residence. Officers located a man matching the description provided on the roadway who advised he was picking up sticks behind the residence and that he has permission from the homeowner. He was advised to only go onto properties where he has permission to do so.
— Ronald Lankford, 59, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle struck a vehicle driven west on Pennsylvania Avenue by Ronald Pierce, 78, Salem, when attempting to pull out of a private lot at 6:08 a.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of West Wilson Street at 12:12 a.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile problem that originally came in as a domestic in progress. Contact was made with the parents of the juvenile about the issue, and the caller advised that she located a cut on her daughter’s arm and was concerned about her physically harming herself, which prompted the juvenile to become extremely upset, and require restraint by the parents after she became physical with them. No injuries were sustained, but due to the caller confirming that the juvenile had cut herself earlier in the day in an attempt at suicide, the fire department was requested to the scene and the juvenile was transported to Akron Children’s by her parents.
–Officers attempted a traffic stop on a tan Buick LeSabre for an equipment violation in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at West State Street at 11:59 p.m. Friday. The vehicle failed to stop, fleeing from officers, and the pursuit was ultimately canceled near Lordstown due to unsafe conditions.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of West State Street at 10:59 p.m. Friday for a reported reckless driver. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in question but were unable to.
–Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Tenth Street at 9:03 p.m. Friday for a report of an orange traffic cone in the roadway. The cone had been dragged by a vehicle from the intersection of East Tenth Street and North Union Avenue and was retrieved and returned to its place.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 3:23 p.m. Friday for a report of a recovered bike. The bike was brought back to the department by the fire department.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:12 p.m. Friday for a report of identity theft. The caller advised that she received two emails from PayPal which advised that there were two purchases made through her account. The caller advised that she did not make the purchases and did not have a PayPal account. The caller advised they were in the process of letting her bank know but wanted a report on file.
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 12:40 p.m. Friday for a wellness check on a person in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in question and spoke with the driver after awakening her. The driver advised that she had fallen asleep in the parking lot while waiting for her next order to deliver. Officers advised the woman of the complaint.
–Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Friday for a reported panic alarm. The caller advised the person causing the problem had walked away prior to officers arriving on scene. Officers located the man in the 1000 block of East State Street, advising him he was no longer welcome at the business. The man advised he understood and left the area.
