Highway Patrol
-- Christopher Johnson, of Hawkins Road in New Waterford, was cited at 7:40 a.m. Sept. 18 on state Route 517 in Center Township for failure to control after traveling off the right side of the road while traveling southbound and striking a mailbox, utility pole, sign, well casing and a parked vehicle. Debris from the parked vehicle hit a second parked vehicle.
-- Matthew Bable, of Carter Road in New Waterford, was not cited after striking a tree branch while traveling westbound on state Route 154 at 6 a.m. Sept. 26 in Middleton Township.
-- Charges may be pending against Miles Ketchum, of Steubenville Road in Lisbon, after he was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 30 at 5:54 p.m. Sept. 19 in Madison Township and struck a construction barrel and overturned his motorcycle off the road.
-- Nancy Bush, of Georgetown Road in Homeworth, was cited at 5:03 p.m. Sept. 21 for improper turn signal, after her vehicle as well as one driven by Kirk Bregar, of Hull Road in Salineville, were eastbound on U.S. Route 30 in West Township. Bush signaled her intent to turn left, so Bregar entered the right turning lane and she struck him when she decided to turn right instead and forced Bregar off the road.
-- Craig Palmer, of Seigler Road in Salineville, was not cited after he struck a cow on Smith Road at 10:31 p.m. Sept. 27.
-- Vincent Delaroza, of North Market Street in East Palestine, was cited at 4:47 p.m. Sept. 25 for failure to yield the right of way when he turned out of a private driveway on to state Route 14 and was struck by Emma Forton, of Shenango Road in Darlington, Pa.
-- Mark Halin, of Hunters Camp Road in Lisbon, was cited at 5:20 p.m. Sept. 24 in Salem Township for failure to yield an assured clear distance, after he rearended a vehicle driven by Deanne Davis, of Youngstown, while southbound on state Route 14.
-- Sheaira R. Moore, of Depot Road in Rogers, was cited at 4:35 a.m. Sept. 29 in Middleton Township, after going off the right side of Dyke Road and hitting a tree while westbound.
-- Kristopher Adkins, of Lincoln Avenue in East Liverpool, was cited at 12:40 p.m. Sept. 18 for failure to control, after he went off the road on state Route 39 while eastbound, struck a cement fire hydrant platform, overturned and hit a bank of mailboxes before his vehicle came to rest.
-- Patrol troopers are still investigating a hit-and-run involving a truck at 10:30 am in West Township. The vehicle, which one witness said was gray and another said was yellow, was traveling southbound on Township Road 703 when it went off the west side of the road, struck two mailboxes and fled the scene.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Street at 9:22 a.m. Friday for a wellness check on a juvenile. Officers were unable to make contact, and the caller later contacted officers and advised the juvenile was located and everything appeared okay.
-- Officers responded to the 1500 block of Cleveland Street at 8:22 a.m. Friday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that his roommate recently moved out to another state and took his Xbox controllers. He advised that he has concerns of being harassed by his old roommate and mother. He was advised a report would be on file.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 10:26 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the parties involved and determined that everything checked okay.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 9:15 p.m. Monday for a barking dog report. Officers advised the owner to keep the dog inside unless needed for the night, so it does not continue to cause a disturbance.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 7:49 p.m. Monday about obtaining a protection order against another person. They explained that they were aware of how to do so and shared information about the incident and why they were getting it and wanted a report on file.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:46 p.m. Monday for a report of a person screaming. Officers found that it was a juvenile that was misbehaving and screaming outside. Officers spoke to the guardians.
-- Officers responded to the 1500 block of Cleveland Street at 7:14 p.m. Monday for a report of fraud. Officers advised them to contact officers once he has gathered bank statements and the victim returns home.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 6:56 p.m. Monday for a report of a man that was pink slipped by the hospital. The man left the hospital and was located by officers and taken back to the hospital.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:46 p.m. Monday regarding concerns over a family member. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 10:43 a.m. Monday to speak with a person who had a firearm inside their vehicle they wished to be kept safe from a family member.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 8:15 a.m. Monday for a report of a combative patient. Officers were able to calm the man down and assisted him to the emergency department. Officers then assisted medical staff with the man.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Street at 6:44 a.m. Monday for a report of possible shots fired. Officers spoke to people in the area who advised it was fireworks going off.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 4:19 a.m. Monday for a report of possible shots fired. The caller advised that he saw two men walking down the street, with one reportedly carrying a firearm, and then heard multiple shots in the area. Officers checked the area, but all was quiet in the area with no evidence of a shooting located.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 3:51 a.m. Monday for a report of a man and woman outside yelling. Officers discovered the male half was intoxicated and causing a verbal altercation. The man was advised to cease yelling and remain indoors for the night.
-- Officers responded to the area of Elm Avenue and West State Street at 12:25 a.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised someone had the door to a storage unit open and was attempting to gain entry into another. Contact was made with the man at the storage unit where his belongings were, who had the lock and key in hand and there was no proof that any crime had been committed.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 6:37 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that her neighbors were threatening her. Officers gave the caller a statement form to fill out and she then advised to forget about it and didn't what to make a report.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 6:25 p.m. Sunday for a reported drive-off. The caller advised that someone pumped $35 of gas, came in to pay and the clerk did not realize the card was declined before the driver departed the area.
-- Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 4:13 p.m. Sunday for a reported hit and skip that occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday while the caller was at work. The caller advised that the vehicle was parked legally in a parking spot when it was hit. Photographs were taken and officers requested video footage, and a report was made.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 3:57 p.m. Sunday for a reported theft. Store employees advised officers that an unknown man came into the store and was attempting to load and purchase PayPal cards and there was $495 loaded onto one of the cards and an activation fee. The man was attempting to use some type of YouTube card as payment and that when the cashier left the register to get a manager, the man left with two PayPal cards without paying. Officers reviewed security footage, and the matter is under investigation.
-- While investigating a parking complaint in the 600 block of East Euclid Street at 12:28 p.m. Sunday officers identified a vehicle owner as having an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Officers were initially unable to contact the owner. However, the owner arrived at the scene while officers were photographing the parking violation. The warrant was confirmed and the owner, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody, and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of East Eighth Street at 9:01 Sunday for a report of a possible shed fire. When officers arrived, a large bonfire was located, and the fire was extinguished by the fire department and homeowner. The homeowner was advised of the city ordinance in regard to burning and given a warning.
