Sheriff's Office
-- A man on Depot Road, Hanover Township, reported at 6:32 p.m. Thursday that he has a protection order against a relative who was at a neighbor's residence which is within 500 feet of his property. A similar report was filed Wednesday.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday to a breaking and entering report on Steubenville Pike Road, Wayne Township.
Liverpool Township
-- A driver exiting LaCroft Elementary School onto Boring Lane on Aug. 22 stopped in the roadway when he saw a car coming toward him. The other driver stopped to allow the driver to continue to exit the school. The driver placed his vehicle in reverse and backed into the car behind him. A report was filed and both drivers were advised to contact their insurance companies.
-- An unnamed driver was issued a court date and citation for expired registration following an Aug. 22 traffic stop on state Route 7. The registration expired on April 8.
-- William Thompson, age and address not provided, was issued a mandatory court summons and citations for driving with no license after being found to have had multiple suspensions, and a marked lanes violation following an Aug. 27 traffic stop on Parkway Avenue. His vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
-- Two unnamed drivers were issued citations for failure to control and unsafe vehicles and issued court dates following an Aug. 30 vehicle crash on state Route 11. Officers checked both vehicles and noticed one had completely bald tires with no tread and the tires on the other vehicle were also worn and unsafe. The vehicles were towed from the scene by First Class Towing and Calcutta Towing.
Wellsville
-- A male residing in the 1700 block of Commerce Avenue told police that his son attacked him when officers responded to the residence on Aug. 22. The male said he did not want to press charges or see him go to jail since he just paid $1,500 to get him out of jail. He said he just wanted him removed from the premises. The son left the premises and officers told the father who signed a refusal to prosecute form of where to go for an eviction and protection order.
-- A female called the police department on Aug. 25 to report that someone took items from her car parked in the 300 block of First Street the night before. She found her wallet on the ground near her car and discovered her Home Depot, Cash App and PayPal cards were gone.
-- A male came into the police station on Aug. 25 to report a stolen handgun. He told officers he went to a residence in the 300 block of Commerce Street to see his wife and set the gun on the counter to play with the children, forgetting the gun when he left to return to work. He told officers the only person in and out of the residence was a maintenance man. A stolen firearms report was completed and sent faxed to the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. An investigation is pending.
-- A male called the police department on Aug. 25 to report a theft in front of his residence on Aug. 24. He told officers he had video of someone getting in his car. Items stolen include $25 to $30 cash, a Nike bag containing a pair of Nike shoes, and iPad, a multimeter, and various other tools.
Salem
--Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:41 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. The caller advised that there was a man and woman sitting in a vehicle and the man was yelling at the woman. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle or the individuals involved.
--Officers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Street with the Zoning and Housing Officer for an animal complaint at 7:59 a.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that his roommate has seven dogs living in the house. Officers spoke with the roommate and advised them they could only have a total of five animals living in a residence in the city. The roommate advised she would attempt to figure something out. Officers previously warned them about this issue in May.
--Officers responded to the 600 block of East Twelfth Street at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers attempted to locate the person in question. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
--Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person in the street. Officers checked the area but did not locate them.
--Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Road at 12:06 a.m. Wednesday for a reported burglary in progress. Officers spoke with the resident and collected photos. Officers contacted a detective and advised the resident that the detective would be out.
--Officers on patrol in the area of Hawley Avenue and East Third Street at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle with an equipment violation. Officers spoke with the driver, running a check through LEADS and finding they had multiple active suspensions and an expired license. Officers cited the driver Krystal Senior, 40, Salem, for driving under suspension, and the vehicle was parked until her father could come and pick it up.
--Officers sitting stationary in the 1100 block of West State Street at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle whose driver was known to be suspended. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and advised the driver, Michelle Stone, the reason for the stop and she advised that she was unaware of the suspension. Stone was cited for driving under suspension, and a valid driver responded to drive the vehicle home.
--Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
--Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday for a reported fire. Officers assist the fire department with trash that was on fire near the street. Once the fire was extinguished officers checked the area to see if there were any witnesses.
--Noah Levans, 20, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and no turn signal after his westbound vehicle on East Third Street was observed failing to signal twice at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday.
--Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday regarding a scam. Officers advised them that scam email is sent quite often, and of measures to take to prevent any issues arising from it.
--Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. A woman was upset that a vehicle did not stop at a crosswalk within a parking lot which caused a verbal dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and sent them on their way.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 12:24 p.m. Friday for a trespassing report. She advised that she wanted to sign a trespass form for a person she did not want on her property. The caller signed the form and advised it would be put into the records at the department.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 11:43 a.m. Friday for a report of harassment. She advised that the person in question had a no contact order against her and that he was trying to get her to violate it. She just wanted the matter documented.
-- Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard and Edgewood Drive at 9:18 p.m. Thursday for a noise complaint. Officers located the source of the music and advised the person in question to turn it down.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 8:43 p.m. Thursday for a reported irate person. The caller advised her son, who was intoxicated, became upset and punched an object in the house. After speaking with both parties, the son was given courtesy transport to another family member's house.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:47 p.m. Thursday for a reported theft. The caller advised that a Papa John's delivery driver had stolen a FedEx package that was sitting at her front door during a delivery to a nearby apartment. The incident was caught on a doorbell camera from a nearby apartment. Officers responded to the business and confronted the man, Mark Gaul, 44, Salem, about the incident who admitted to stealing the package, which was a $58 CPAP machine electrical cord. The cord was found in Gaul's possession, and he was subsequently arrested for theft and transported to the police department for processing prior to transport to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Continental Drive at 6:08 p.m. Thursday for a reported irate person. When officers arrived, the person was already calm and had apparently been upset about a medical situation she was experiencing. EMT was requested to transport her to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 3:28 p.m. Thursday for a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Officers were advised that the caller gave permission to their granddaughter to use a vehicle, which she had been making payments on, but was requesting the vehicle be returned, and the granddaughter was refusing to bring the vehicle back. Officers advised that they would contact the other party.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at 3:27 p.m. Thursday for a report of a woman in the roadway trying to stop cars. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the woman.
-- Officers spoke to two people at the police department at 2:01 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil matter involving another family member. Officers advised them to contact a lawyer.
-- The school resource officer was advised of an issue at Reilly Elementary regarding two students causing an issue at the school at 1:51 p.m. Thursday. Both students' parents were notified, and both were suspended, pending expulsion. All information was gathered for the report.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 1:50 p.m. Thursday for a reported criminal trespass. The caller advised that an unknown woman was walking around their backyard. The caller had video of the woman, who officers were able to identify and locate in the 300 block of Rose Avenue. Officers advised the woman not to return to the property.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block East State Street at 1:42 p.m. Thursday for a speak with officer complaint. Officers were advised that the caller had received a couple of text messages from an unknown number that were concerning. Officers advised the caller the information would be passed on to the appropriate resources.
-- Officers responded to the 2500 block of Morris Avenue at 12:39 p.m. Thursday for a report of a small child walking around outside unattended. Officers located the child and were able to locate their mother who was inside her residence sleeping. The child will be returned to his mother and the incident will be forwarded to CPS.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:26 p.m. Thursday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised that a dog was left inside a vehicle and spoke with the owner who advised the vehicle was on and the air conditioner was running.
-- The school resource officer was advised of an issue at Southeast Elementary at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. School administration advised that a student had made some inappropriate statements to another student during class. All information was gathered, the student was suspended, and the issue will be sent to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office for review.
Leetonia
-- Police responded to a noise complaint at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 200 block of Main Street and smoke with two subjects who informed the officer they are celebrating Labor Day with fireworks. They agreed to cease doing so despite the noise ordinance not going into effect until 11 p.m.
-- An officer responded to a trespassing complaint filed at 6:55 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 300 block of East Main Street. Extra patrols were requested.
-- A property damage crash was reported at 3:17 p.m. Aug. 31 in the area of Main and Walnut streets, where a tractor-trailer struck a pole while attempting to turn right onto Walnut, damaging it and a stop sign before leaving the scene. Shawn Drass, out of Monroe Township, Pa. was cited for hit-skip and off state route as a result of the incident, after police tracked him and his vehicle at Salem Walmart.
-- Found property was discovered at 8:55 p.m. Aug. 31 at Wick Park and given to an officer and reunited with its owner.
-- An officer responded at 7:48 a.m. Sept. 3 to an alarm drop at Oak Dale Cemetery. The alarm had been accidentally set off by an employee.
-- Police responded at 7:03 p.m. Sept. 2 to the 200 block of High Street for a fire alarm drop, which had accidentally triggered when the occupant was grilling steaks.
-- An officer was asked to stand by for a custody exchange in the 100 block of Pine Street.
-- Property damage was reported at 5 p.m. Sept. 4 by a tenant at the State Street Apartments, who advised that a contractor hired by the village damaged a retaining wall while clearing out the area.
Columbiana
-- Police responded at 7:07 p.m. Aug. 29 to the 1200 block of Fairfield Avenue for a DOA. Upon arrival, Joseph A. Beary, 59, was found deceased of an apparent drug overdose. The Columbiana County Coroner's Office responded, and the case has been turned over to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force. This was two days after police had responded to this residence to assist EMS with a medical call, where Beary had went voluntarily to Salem Regional Medical Center to seek medical treatment.
-- A male subject reported at 12:33 p.m. Aug. 25 that his Facebook account had been hacked and being used to send unwanted messages.
-- A reckless driver was reported at 11:16 a.m. Aug. 30 in the first block of West Park Avenue. EMS transported the female to the police station out as she was having a medical issue and released her to a relative after she was checked out.
-- An Allen Avenue resident came on station at 10:41 a.m. Aug. 30 to consult with police about an incident that occurred last week involving her ex-boyfriend and outlined her options.
-- Justin E. Perkins, of Columbiana, was arrested on an active felony warrant at 2:42 p.m. Aug. 29 in the area of North Middle and West Salem streets.
-- Roman A. Dariychuk, of Lisbon, was arrested on charges of obstructing official business and two counts of disorderly conduct at 5:02 p.m. Aug. 28, after police responded to a disturbance near Fairfield Avenue and Metz Road and were led on a brief foot pursuit. Dariychuk also was found to have an active felony warrant out of Philadelphia and a misdemeanor warrant out of Lancaster County.
-- Scott Hall, of Columbiana, was cited at 9:27 p.m. Aug. 27 for driving under suspension, following a traffic stop on state Route 14.
-- Chris Baldelli, of Bellaire, was arrested at 11:19 a.m. in the first block of South Main Street on charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, after he had been talking inappropriately to a female employee and refused to leave the property.
