Sheriff's Office
-- A Hanover Township woman reported on Tuesday at 3:25 p.m. that a jar of quarters worth $500 was taken from her resident by someone known to her. She was advised to contact an attorney.
-- Officers responded to an alarm drop at 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday on state Route 517 in Center Township. It was determined to be a false alarm.
-- Holmes County Sheriff's Office requested deputies assistance in making contact with a subject in West Township at 9:10 p.m. on Monday.
-- Deputies responded at 7:46 p.m. on Monday to a report of an assault at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course on Homeworth Road in Knox Township.
-- Deputies served a resident on state Route 45 in Madison Township on Saturday at 4:18 p.m. with an order of protection.
-- Deputies responded at 8:19 p.m. to North Price Road in Butler Township for an abandoned vehicle. Contact was made with the owner who advised the car would be towed.
-- Deputies were dispatched to Union Street in Washingtonville for a report of an assault. A warrant was later issued for Jeffery Gowen, charged with two counts of domestic violence.
Highway Patrol
-- Tiffany Potts, West Third Street, Salem, was cited at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 2 in Butler Township for failure to control and driving without a valid license. She was traveling south on Georgetown Road when she traveled left of center, overcorrected and went off the right side of the road before striking a culvert and overturning her vehicle. The report noted that she had visible signs of possible impairment, so additional charges may be pending based on lab test results.
-- Alexis Morena, Argos, Ind., was cited at 11:13 a.m. Aug. 2 in West Township for failure to yield the right of way on a public highway after she entered U.S. Route 30 from the south side of the road and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Gary Fenton, Newcomerstown, while attempting a left turn.
-- Kenneth Scaife, Johnstown, Pa., was cited at 4:42 p.m. Aug. 1 in Fairfield Township after his westbound vehicle struck an overhead cable wire on state Route 517, causing damage.
East Palestine
-- Officers spoke to a female resident of West Martin Street at 4:39 a.m. on Tuesday concerning the well-being of her adult daughter. A report was taken.
-- Officers responded at 2 a.m. on Monday to West Martin Street to a report of a suspicious person. No contact was made.
-- Officers responded to a report of an adult man "acting out" on North Pleasant Street at 9:36 p.m. The man was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
-- A woman came to the station at 7:27 a.m. to report that her vehicle was taken by her boyfriend and was at the derailment site. During the concentration, evidence was collected and forwarded to East Liverpool Police regarding a domestic violence incident. The woman's car was located and returned.
-- Officers responded to a report of an assault at McDonald's on South Market Street at 6:58 p.m. on Saturday. The report was determined to be unfounded.
-- Officers located abandoned dog at West Martin Street at 10:58 a.m. on Saturday. The dog was seized and a summons issued to its owner.
Salem
-- Officers on patrol in the 900 block of East State Street at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle with expired plates. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the driver and had K-9 Simon conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle with a positive indication for the presence of narcotic odor. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and contraband was recovered, and the driver was issued a written warning for expired plates.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday for a reported fight. Officers found two people in an argument, both of which were stopped and identified as officers investigated the complaint. Both advised nothing physical had occurred and that they were fine.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense. Officers seized $160 from the man as part of the investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Home Circle at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday for a report of severe weather damage. Officers located the power line that was damaged and contacted Ohio Edison.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fifth Street at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The issue was found to be a custody dispute and advised they would need to talk with their attorneys about the issue.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday to check for a man with an active warrant out of the Minerva Police Department. Officers located the man, Dustin Tanner, 40, and he was taken into custody without incident. The man was transported to the police department then turned over to a Minerva officer.
-- Officers responded to the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an ambulance needed. The man had accidentally taken too many THC gummies, and he was having some medical issues. He was transported to the emergency room by EMT.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday for a situation concerning his cell phone. Officers advised him to contact his cell-phone provider.
-- Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Fifth Street at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. A vehicle driven eastbound in the 900 block of East Fifth Street by Jeffrey Watson, Salem, had its mirror struck by an unknown vehicle which then fled the area.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday to assist a member of the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the city.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of South Broadway Avenue and East Perry Street at 4:51 a.m. Tuesday observed a vehicle with expired plates. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Michael Mitchell, 51, Salem, who had a suspended license. Officers issued a citation to Mitchell for driving under suspension and expired plates, and the vehicle was towed by Sinsley's Towing.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue at 11:57 p.m. Monday for a 911 hang-up call which was found to be a small juvenile playing with a phone.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Newgarden Avenue at 11:51 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question and found everything checked okay.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 11:35 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. When officers arrived both parties were already separated, and upon investigation officers found nothing physical occurred. The male party's father responded to pick up his son and alleviate the issue for the evening.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of Franklin Avenue and Aetna Street at 6:41 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and requested K-9 Simon respond to conduct a free-air sniff which indicated the presence of narcotics. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, locating contraband and took the driver Jessie Vega, 31, Youngstown, into custody and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail, with potential further charges pending lab results.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fourth Street at 1:10 p.m. Monday to speak with a resident about an earlier incident. Officers found the door to the residence open and spoke with the homeowner by phone who advised that nobody was to be in the house. Officers made several announcements and two people known to officers came out of the residence and were detained until officers spoke with the homeowner again and they advised that they knew the person in question and didn't want them in the home, but did not want to pursue the matter. Officers released both people and while at the residence officers located an item that had been reported stolen and returned it to its owner.
-- Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East Fourth Street at 12:59 p.m. Monday observed potential suspicious activity in the woods. Officers checked the area and found that someone had built a shelter without the property owner's knowledge or permission.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers were advised that people were possibly drinking alcohol in the parking lot. Officers checked the area but did not locate them.
-- Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 11:39 a.m. Monday for a reported theft. The caller advised that someone had removed a ladder from the rear of the building that was being used to access the rood and had been tied off at the top of the building around 10 a.m. The caller was provided a report number, and officers checked the area, but nothing was located.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:42 a.m. Monday for a report of recovered property. The caller advised that he found a pistol magazine, and officers placed it in the lost and found at the police department.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:28 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the person involved and determined it to be a verbal dispute over household issues. No physical violence had occurred.
-- Officers responded to the 1800 block of East Third Street at 3:05 a.m. Monday for a report of a noise outside the caller's residence. Officers checked the area, but nobody was located. Officers observed a cat run from the area the noise originated from.
-- Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Third Street at 12:47 a.m. Monday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised they were concerned that their juvenile daughter who lives in the city is reportedly dating an adult man that is also a sex offender. Information was obtained for further information.
-- Officers responded to the 1700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 10:41 p.m. Sunday for a 911 transfer call regarding an unknown issue. Officers spoke with the residents and found an adult at the residence needed medical attention, who was transported by EMS to the hospital. The juvenile at the residence was brought back to the department and was later picked up by a relative to stay with for the night.
