-- A criminal damaging incident was reported at 4:52 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Main Street.
-- Leetonia police assisted a Columbiana officer at 10:13 p.m. Saturday with a possible breaking and entering investigation.
-- A welfare check was investigated at 9:09 a.m. Tuesday in the first block of High Street. Everyone was found fine.
-- A tenant reported at 9:42 a.m. Saturday that the owner of the Monarch Storage Units contacted him to report that a possible break-in occurred at his unit. Upon arrival, the complainant arrived to find the lock removed and the contents ransacked.
Highway Patrol
--Karen Houlette, of Davnor Road in Lisbon, was cited at 10 a.m. July 31 for failure to yield the right of way on a public highway, after she pulled from a private driveway into the path of James Strabala, who was driving a Lisbon village truck on state Route 45, striking his vehicle.
-- Jennifer Maple, of Vernia Street in East Liverpool, was northbound on state Route 7 when she struck a deer crossing the roadway. She was not cited.
--John Helman, of North Market Street in Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield the right of way when turning left, after he was attempting to turn left while southbound on state Route 45 and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Jonathan Kelm, of Willoughby.
--Morgan Wayne, of Finleyville, Pa., was cited at 12:36 p.m. July 29 in Salem Township for improper turn in the roadway. Wayne turned northbound onto state Route 45 and struck a vehicle driven by Jennifer Hunt, of Westville Lake in Beloit, forcing Hunt off the left side of the road and into a traffic sign.
--Robert Troyer, of Kensington, was not cited at 10:05 a.m. July 29 in Knox Township. His parked vehicle, which was towing a tractor on a trailer, rolled down a private driveway across Homeworth Road, jackknifing the attached trailer. The tractor loaded on it fell into a ditch on its right side.
--Parker Henderson, of Front Street in New Waterford, was cited for failure to control and no operator's license, after he crashed his vehicle at 3:42 a.m. July 29. Henderson had been northbound on Creek Road and drove off the left side of the road, striking the ditch.
--James Pudino, of Butler, Pa., was cited at 2:55 p.m. July 26 for reasonable control. His northbound vehicle traveled off the left side of CR 443, striking a guardrail and then traveling off the right side of the road before striking a culvert.
--Cruz Rivas, of Salineville Road in Salineville was cited at 12:38 p.m. July 27 in Butler Township for improper overtaking, after he struck a vehicle driven by Kristin Rawlings, of Hammondsville, while trying to pass her on state Route 9.
--Tim Heptner, of Cherry Fork Road in Leetonia, was cited at 3:45 p.m. July 27 in Fairfield Township for improper secure load, after a piece of wood came off his trailer and hit the vehicle driven by James Solomon, of Dillonvale, traveling behind him on state Route 11.
--Christopher Marley, of Ashland, was cited at 1:10 p.m. July 29 in Knox Township with failure to obey a control device, after his vehicle struck an overhead bridge on Georgetown Road.
Sheriff's Office
-- A deputy was dispatched at 5:48 p.m. Monday to a state Route 172 residence in Center Township regarding an alleged burglary in progress reported by the homeowner. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered a female, later identified as Amanda Curran, who allegedly entered the home illegally and was lying on the couch wearing the homeowner's clothing and footwear. Curran was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. A preliminary hearing was set Aug. 15 for Curran, 40, New Galilee, Pa., for fourth-degree felony burglary.
-- A deputy responded to Lisbon Dungannon Road at Wayne Bridge Road in Center Township at 7:13 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check on a person that was wandering around on the road and acting disoriented. The deputy checked the area and had no contact with anyone.
Perry Township
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 11th Street at 8:53 p.m. Monday for a reported unruly juvenile. The caller advised her juvenile daughter was refusing to get into her vehicle and leave the juvenile's friend's house. Officers spoke with the juvenile and advised the caller to contact the juvenile prosecutor if she wanted to file unruly charges.
-- Officers responded to the state Route 45 bypass at 3:23 p.m. Monday for a reported reckless driver. Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Goshen Road and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for marked lanes violation. Officers found the driver not to be impaired and to be experiencing a medical emergency.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 1:16 p.m. Monday for an unruly juvenile complaint. The caller advised their juvenile daughter was being unruly and upset her to the point of experiencing a seizure. Officers spoke with the juvenile and advised the caller to contact the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office if she wanted to pursue charges.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Pine Lake Road at 11:28 a.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that on Friday she returned home to find both of her garage doors open. The caller could not find anything wrong with the residence or garage but wanted officers to be aware in case it was her ex-boyfriend coming around her residence.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 7:09 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil issue. The moving company refused to unload items due to asking double the price originally agreed upon. Officers were able to contact the owner and explained to them and the caller the civil court process, and the owner and caller came to an agreement. Officers responded back to the residence due to a dresser and clothing totaling $500 that were unaccounted for.
-- Officers responded to the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and North Lincoln Avenue at 7:01 p.m. Friday to assist Goshen Township officers with a traffic accident. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 10:20 a.m. Friday for a report of an unwanted person. The caller advised that his sister's ex-boyfriend was at his house after multiple attempts to keep him away. Officers spoke with the ex-boyfriend and advised him that he was trespassed from the property.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center for an irate patient who was trying to leave the emergency room. Officers located the person stumbling through the parking lot in his underwear. Due to the person stumbling into the roadway and almost hitting his head on multiple occasions, officers detained them for their own safety. Officers learned the man was at the emergency room for seizures but signed out against medical advice. While officers were attempting to get him home, he began suffering from seizures again in the parking lot and he was taken back inside.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of vandalism. The caller advised an unknown person damaged several of the rings that go to the cross fit station.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 8:04 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that when she left for work that day, she had observed several items moved around on her front porch. The caller believed someone had been coming onto her porch and messing around. Officers did observe all the items that were moved, and she requested an extra patrol in the area.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that a man was on her property after having previously been criminally trespassed from the property. Officers located the person standing in the front yard of the caller as she was telling him to leave, and the man, Michael Souers, 37, Salem, was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the police department for processing and later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Prospect Street at 7:17 p.m. Sunday for a report of a scooter found on the sidewalk. Officers found the scooter to be destroyed and rusted as if it was discarded and the caller was advised her child could play with it or discard it if she wished.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:57 p.m. Sunday regarding her neighbor driving through her yard. Officers spoke with the neighbor who admitted to driving through the yard. The caller advised that she only wanted a report on file.
-- Officers responded to the area of Poolside Drive at 3:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of two women in a public bathroom smoking marijuana. Officers spoke to the woman who admitted to being in the bathroom but were only using a vape pen. Officers advised the woman of the complaint and both women and their mother got upset and left the pool.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 2:02 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check on three small juveniles. The caller advised that she hadn't heard from her ex or her kids in almost two months. Officers spoke with the man and advised him of the complaint and observed all three kids to be okay.
-- Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 12:54 p.m. Sunday at the request of the fire department. A woman was transported to the hospital by the fire department but forgot her personal belongings. The woman asked the firefighter to return to her residence and get her belongings. The firefighter wanted an officer to stand by while he got her belongings from the residence.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Roosevelt Avenue at 12:19 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic dispute report. Officers were advised that two people have been arguing all day. Officers spoke to the people in question, who advised an altercation did occur and the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the Holiday Inn Express at 12:29 p.m. Sunday for a reported dog bite. The first guest advised that they were a dog trainer accompanied by a dog in training to be a service dog, and as they were waiting to board the elevator, the second guest exited the elevator and the dog became anxious and bit the second guest in the hip area breaking skin with a small amount of bleeding. The second guest declined first responders or an ambulance, and information was gathered from both guests and documentation of the dog's shots was abstained. Officers photographed the injury and provided the report number to both guests and the first guest was advised to quarantine the dog for ten days. The report will be forwarded to the city health department.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of East Pershing Street and Washington Avenue at 10:16 a.m. Sunday were flagged down by a man who advised that he accidentally cut his hand and arm with a grinder and was asking for police to assist in getting to the hospital. Officers assisted the man the Salem Regional Medical Center for medical attention.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue and East Tenth Street at 7:52 a.m. Sunday for a report of an obstruction in the roadway. Officers observed road construction barrels and a road closed sign in the middle of an intersection where there was no road construction going on. Officers moved the barrels from the roadway and opened the intersection.
-- Officers responded to the area of Continental and Lexington drives at 3:18 a.m. Sunday for a reported fight. When officers arrived, several vehicles were observed leaving the area and spoke with three males and a female. They advised that they were at a friend's residence when they discovered someone had sliced one of their truck tires and the owner advised he believed his girlfriend's ex had done it. Due to the time of morning a parent was called to pick the up the males, two of which were juveniles, and they were advised that should they elect to give statement on what was said by the man reportedly responsible they would need to do so for possible charges. The female was also picked up by a guardian and all were transported home safely.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 1:42 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. When officers arrived screaming could be heard from the apartment and contact was made with both the male and female residents who had apparently gotten into a physical altercation over relationship issues. Both parties had physical injuries and offered slightly different stories. The female half claimed that the man had gotten on top of her which resulted in her scratching and biting him, while the man reported the woman was on top of him and strangling him. Both parties, Delaney Veon, 20, Salem, and Mason Patchin, 21, Salem, were ultimately taken into custody charged with domestic violence. Patchin was transported directly to the Columbiana County Jail while Veon was transported to the police department for processing. Upon arrival Veon requested to be checked for a concussion so the fire department and EMT responded to the station. Due to the other party having already been secured, she was advised that she would be receiving a summons on the charge and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
-- Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West State Street at 12:13 a.m. Sunday to assist an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop in reference to an OVI Investigation.
