-- VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare at 1:17 p.m. Thursday requested deputies do a welfare check on a person residing on state Route 165, Unity Township, that was entered into the law enforcement data base as missing and was issued a pink slip. Deputies made contact with the person and New Waterford EMS transported the person to a hospital in Mahoning County.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 8:59 p.m. July 27 to Rogers regarding a male who had two loaded firearms and a sword who was harassing juveniles at the park. He was observed by deputies walking north in the middle of the road on state Route 7. As deputies continued to attempt contact, the suspect continued to run up a steep embankment and straight into his residence. K-9s conducted a search and were able to track him to the front door. He refused to come to the door. Charges were filed for obstructing official business.
-- Marvin Wengerd, 23, Carmel Achor Road, Negley, was charged with disorderly conduct after several complaints were made with the Sheriff's Office following a gathering at his residence, with deputies dispatched at 2:09 a.m. Sunday. Wengerd is scheduled for arraignment in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Aug. 12.
-- A man on Salineville Road West, Salineville reported at 10:36 p.m. Friday that people were on his neighbor's property. A deputy spoke with the people, where family members of the property owner.
-- A deputy responded at 10:31 p.m. Friday to Shore Lane Road, Hanover Township, for a fireworks complaint, but found no one.
-- A man on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township, reported at 8:07 p.m. Friday that his sister left the residence earlier in the day and had not returned and has no cell phone with her. He called back a short time later and said his sister returned and everything was fine.
Salem
-- Timothy Allison, 37, New Waterford, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound vehicle on Park Avenue struck a vehicle driven east on Maple Street by Braxton Dilling, 18, Salem, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Fair Avenue at 6:19 a.m. Saturday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. Officers were able to locate the vehicle at the residence.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:35 a.m. Saturday for a report of someone lying on the sidewalk. Contact was made with a man, and he was highly intoxicated, and a room key for the Stables Inn was located beside him. He was given a ride, and officers ensured he made it inside safely.
-- Officers responded to the 1700 block of East Third Street at 2:04 a.m. Saturday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers were advised that someone knocked on the window of the residence. Officers checked the area on foot but were unable to locate anyone.
-- Officers on patrol witnessed a known juvenile walking down the roadway away from their home. Due to the late hour, contact was made with the juvenile, and he was made to go back into his residence and warned for the curfew violation.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 12:48 a.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious person in the roadway acting strange. Officers located the person who was near their home, and they were advised to go inside for the night.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 11:34 p.m. Friday for a wellness check on a person who was reportedly involved in an accident outside the city. Officers attempted contact but were unsuccessful.
-- Officers responded to the first block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:11 p.m. Friday to check on Goshen and Perry Township officers who were on scene for a crash. The vehicle crashed after the driver fled and went over an embankment. The scene was already contained when officers arrived a nothing further was needed.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 6:51 p.m. Friday to check on an intoxicated person that was causing an issue in the emergency room. Officers spoke with the person and advised him of the complaint. He admitted to being loud and upset with the staff but had since calmed down. He was advised to remain calm while his other half was being treated and to find other means of transportation home.
-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 4:17 p.m. Friday for a reported civil matter. The caller was advised of the process of filing civil claims against the person.
-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 3:39 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that they received text messages requesting money or pictures of them would be sent out. Officers advised them not to give out any personal information including bank information, social security number, or credit card numbers, and that a report would be made.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Fair Avenue at 1:17 p.m. Friday for a reported parking complaint. The owner of the property advised a white SUV was parked in his tenants parking spot, and neither the caller, nor the tenants knew whose vehicle it was. Officers advised the caller since it was on private property they could have it towed at the owner's expense.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:10 p.m. Friday for a report of a stolen electric scooter. The caller advised that around 1:30 a.m. that morning while riding on South Lundy Avenue at the stop sign at Columbia Street an unknown person knocked the caller off his scooter and stole it, and that when he was able to get up the person and scooter were gone, the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of East Pershing Street at 10:15 a.m. Friday for a report of a tree limb down in the roadway. Officers located the tree limb and moved it from the roadway.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Rose Avenue at 10:13 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious object that was possibly a syringe. Officers responded and observed the object was saline solution. Officers took possession of the object and discarded it at the police department.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of East State Street at 8:46 a.m. Friday for a harassment report. The caller advised that a man living in the apartment above hers has been harassing her. Officers spoke with the man, advising him of the complaint and to have no further contact with the caller and he advised that he would not talk to the caller again.
