County Sheriff
-- A Lisbon Road, Salem Township, resident called at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday to report a property dispute with his family over his deceased father's property. He was advised to contact an attorney.
-- A man from Main Street, Hanoverton, reported at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday that he owns property on Mountz Road, Butler Township, and a 2004 Cadillac he has parked on the property was damaged by a bullet, from someone shooting in the area.
-- A man on state Route 45, Center Township, reported at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday that he wants his son to move out of the residence. He was advised of the eviction process.
-- A man on Pancake Clarkson Road, Middleton Township, reported at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday that his neighbors were yelling at him over a person who was at his residence flying a drone.
-- A Grant Street, Center Township, man came to the sheriff's office at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday to report someone is entering his residence somehow and moving items around inside, but nothing his missing.
-- Deputies were advised at 4:55 p.m. July 13 of a person on Gavers Road, Hanover Township, who alleged that a family member broke into their trailer and took multiple items.
New Waterford
-- A theft involving a motor vehicle and a debit card with unauthorized purchases was reported at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of West Main Street.
-- Officers responded at 2:28 p.m. July 26 to the 3000 block of Silliman Street to a call about a missing puppy.
-- A rabbit was attacked at 2:10 p.m. July 28 in the 3000 block of Silliman Street, eventually resulting in the rabbit's euthanasia due to its injuries.
St. Clair Township
-- A male was escorted by officers from a residence on Echo Dell Drive on July 16 to his mother's house after officers responded to a domestic situation at the residence. The female resident said her boyfriend had been drinking and was becoming verbally abusive toward family members.
-- Malissa Moore, 50, address not provided, was arrested, charged with felonious assault and transported to the Columbiana County Jail after witnesses told officers she tried to hit a male with her vehicle on Cornell Street.
-- Jerry Mason, age and address not provided, was arrested and charged with domestic violence after officers responding to a domestic call at his Stagecoach Road residence on July 18.
-- Randolph Swihart, age and address not provided, was arrested for disorderly conduct public intoxication when officers noticed him standing off to the side of their cars during a traffic stop on state Route 170 on July 19. Officers asked him if he needed anything, and he told them he had been drinking at Coaches and was drunk. He was released with a court summons.
-- Heather Barnhouse, age and address not provided, was arrested and charged with assault following a verbal argument with her neighbor on Clearview Drive on July 20. The neighbor told officers Barnhouse spit in her face following the argument.
-- Julie Underwood, 46, address not provided, was issued a court summons and charged with drug paraphernalia and possessing drug abuse instruments following a traffic stop for an equipment violation on state Route 11 on July 21.
-- Two families who reside on Lincoln Street were advised to avoid each other or learn to get along after officers responded to a verbal argument between the families in the roadway on July 21. The families were told that if the argument continued or got physical, they would go to jail.
-- A male came to the police station on July 21 to report that while shopping at Walmart a female took the battery converter he had paid for in the electronics department while he continued his shopping. He told officers a manager viewed the video footage and suggested he speak with the police and file a report.
-- A family on McCoy Avenue requested extra watch from officers on July 21 after reporting that an unknown male had several times come onto their property and made comments at the family and has been seen driving by their home. The family said they don't know who he is or why he keeps showing up.
-- A male reported on July 22 the boyfriend of his child's mother was holding what appeared to be a knife during a verbal confrontation when he dropped the child off to the mother. The male said he did not want to press charges, but he did wanted the incident documented.
-- An officer responded to a complaint of shopping carts damaging a parked car at Walmart on July 22.
-- A female was transported by North Star to the hospital on July 27 after officers responded to a Moore Avenue residence for a report of a female posting on social media that she wanted to kill herself by slitting her wrist.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 10:59 p.m. Friday for a report of a man overdosing. When officers arrived the man had already been revived and the fire department and EMT checked on the man who refused treatment. While in the residence officers observed two cut straws, a glass pipe, and two opened baggies sitting on a table, and the items were seized.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 10:39 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a suspicious vehicle had been driving past the residence and taking photos. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but the vehicle in question left the area prior to officers' arrival.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 9:42 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. Offices checked the area but nothing suspicious was located.
-- Officers assisted Columbiana Officers with a breath test at the police department at 9:23 p.m. Friday. Officers stood by while they conducted the test.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of North Union Avenue and East State Street at 7:42 p.m. Friday observed a man on a motorcycle with a suspended license. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, which the man, whose name was not listed, did not comply with. While officers were behind the man he committed multiple traffic violations, and officers continued to pursue him out of the city with the pursuit ultimately terminated due to safety concerns. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:34 p.m. Friday for a report of a disorderly person. Officers spoke with the man and gave him a warning for disorderly conduct, and he left the area.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mound Street at 5:25 p.m. Friday for a report of an unauthorized use. During the call officers assisted the owner with an escort to recover the vehicle without incident.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 4:51 p.m. Friday for a reported juvenile complaint. Officers were advised of juveniles throwing rocks and apples at an unknown object. Officers spoke with the juveniles and found they were throwing them into a burn barrel. Officers spoke with the juveniles' mother who advised them to clean up the mess they made and to get home.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 4:47 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised her roommate allowed a camera to be placed in the common area of the residence they share, in plain sight. The caller was advised that this was not an invasion of her privacy due to the camera being the common area. The caller advised they were moving out Aug. 1.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Continental Drive at 3:15 p.m. Friday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with both parties involved and both were advised to stay away from each other. Both agreed to remain apart to prevent any further problems.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 2:57 p.m. Friday for an open door. Officers located a woman inside that the property owner said was not permitted to be there. Contact was made with a prosecutor and officers were informed that the woman had no legal right to the property and the woman gathered some personal items and departed the area.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 1:28 p.m. Friday who advised that his soon to be ex-roommate and her family have been harassing him over some recent personal issues. The man and his family wanted the incident documented due to the fear of the situation escalating. The incident will be documented and sent to the prosecutor for review for potential charges if the harassment continues.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:27 p.m. Friday for a report of possible menacing in the 2500 block of East State Street. The caller advised that a woman had made threats toward her while she was at a local business and wanted to report it. She also advised that the person had made threats towards her through text message and that she would provide them to officers. Further investigation is pending.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:43 p.m. Friday for a report of men sitting int two different vehicles with open containers. Officers spoke to all involved parties, advising them to dump out their beverages they had just opened. The men returned to their place of employment and arrangements were made for their vehicles to get picked up.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:40 p.m. Friday for a wellness check on a city resident. Officers checked the residence but were unable to contact the person in question. Officers learned that the person in question no longer lived in the city. The proper agency was contacted and advised of the situation.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 12:21 p.m. Friday for a report of a woman calling his business and harassing him. Officers contacted the woman and she advised that she would stop so there would be no further issues.
