-- Officers responded to the 800 block of West Wilson Street at 2:15 a.m. Monday for a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Officers were canceled en route as the caller did not want to make a report. Officers still spoke with the caller who advised that her daughter had taken a vehicle without permission, but it could be recovered, and they did not wish to pursue charges.
-- Officers on patrol in the 400 block of Benton Road at 11:49 p.m. Sunday observed a vehicle with an expired registration and conducted a traffic stop. Contraband was recovered and officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. Officers located more contraband, collected all contraband, and further charges are pending BCI results. Officers issued the driver a warning for expired registration.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10 p.m. Sunday for an ongoing issue between two women. Officers spoke with all parties and officers stated that if the communication continues then the case will be sent to the prosecutor for possible charges.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 8:16 p.m. Sunday for a report of a barking dog. When the officers arrived, no dog was heard barking.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East State Street at 8:07 p.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious man near the basement door. Nobody was found around the exterior of the library; however, a man walking that matched the description was located a short distance away. The man was identified and advised of the complaint, and he advised he'd been charging his phone and using the Wi-Fi. He was advised that the library was closed and to remain off the property during non business hours.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 4:12 p.m. Sunday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller had concerns about a personnel issue, and officers left a statement for the caller to fill out.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 2:49 p.m. Monday for a suspicious person complaint. Officers were advised a person was refusing to leave a local business until they called police. The person left prior to officers' arrival, and officers located him and advised that he could face criminal charges if he refused to leave a private business again and he advised he understood.
-- Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 1:19 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person sleeping in the woods. Officers located the person in question and spoke with him about the complaint. Officers were familiar with the person and spoke with him about the complaint. The man then left the area without incident.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:48 p.m. Sunday for a report of two people attempting to harm themselves. Officers spoke with the first person who advised that she had cut herself and the other did so because she had. They were transported to Alliance hospital for an evaluation.
-- Officers responded to the area of Woodland Avenue and East State Street at 11:14 a.m. Sunday for a wellness check on two juveniles allegedly playing in the roadway. Officers searched the surrounding area but did not observe them.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 11:14 a.m. Sunday for a reported speak with officer report. The caller advised that she believed her neighbors' adult daughter was allowing toxic fumes to enter the residence through the ventilation system. Officers had the fire department respond and check the air quality inside the residence and found it to be normal. The caller was advised of the findings and offered medical assistance, which they denied.
-- Officers responded to the area of South Lundy Avenue at 4:01 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area but did not locate anyone.
-- Officers on patrol in the 100 block of West State Street at 1:25 a.m. Sunday stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the stop the driver consented to a search of the vehicle with no contraband located. The driver, Joseph Garwood, Salem, was ultimately cited for driving under suspension and a licensed driver recovered the vehicle.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Homewood Avenue at 12:51 a.m. Sunday for a reported music complaint. Officers spoke with the homeowner, advising them of the complaint, and they turned the music down.
-- Officers responded with the fire department to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:21 p.m. Saturday for a possible overdose. Contact could not be made at the residence, and while officers were on scene updated information was received that the person in question was now in a business's parking lot. He could not be located.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue at 10:59 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that her live-in boyfriend left the residence prior to officers' arrival, and that an argument ensued over her cat in which she feels her boyfriend is jealous. She claimed that during the argument her boyfriend threw a small Tupperware container which had cat food in it at her face striking her on the left side of the face. No injury was visible, and the caller did not wish to fill out a statement nor for medical attention. Officers searched for the boyfriend but did not make contact.
-- Officers on patrol in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 10:17 p.m. Saturday for a registration violation. During the stop K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of narcotic odor, and contraband was recovered from the vehicle and from an occupant. Charges are pending and the driver Jacob Graham, 38, Beloit, was cited for driving under suspension.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 1800 block of East State Street at 8:56 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious man asking for money. Contact was made with the man in question, who was identified, and found to have multiple active warrants out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. The warrants were confirmed and the man, Edward Pittman, 41, Salem, was placed under arrest. Upon a search incident to the arrest several items of contraband and drug paraphernalia were located on Pittman's person, and additional charges are pending lab results.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Saturday for a report of theft. Officers spoke with the caller who advised that a man that was living with her had taken money and other items. Officers advised her that it was a civil issue and to contact the courts for an eviction.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Penn Avenue at 6:59 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man that had fallen down the steps. The man was transported to Youngstown by EMT.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 5:10 p.m. Saturday for a report of children left in a vehicle unattended at a business. The vehicle had left prior to the officers' arrival.
-- Officers responded to Centennial Park at 4:16 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check on a person lying in the grass. Officers located the person in question, who they were familiar with, and they advised they were fine.
-- Officers responded to the area of Superior Avenue near Waterworth Memorial Park at 3:23 p.m. Saturday for a fight. Officers spoke with one of the parties who advised the other had threatened him with a firearm. Officers spoke to a witness at the park who advised that they saw and heard the argument but did not hear anything about a firearm. Officers spoke with the other involved party who advised that there was an argument but that he did not threaten the other person with a firearm. Due to neither person wishing to pursue any charges and conflicting stories officers advised them to stay away from each other.
