-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:55 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that while at work, a neighbor contacted him, who advised there was a loud disturbance inside his residence, and when he returned home from work, he found it had been ransacked. There was no forced entry, and the caller believed the only person with a key had entered and broken his property but declined to pursue the matter legally. He was advised how to obtain a protection order and photos of the damage were obtained.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 10:55 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that his wife, whom he is separated from, destroyed the window of a work vehicle. The matter is currently under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of West Seventh Street at 10:05 p.m. Monday for a report of a man needing medical attention that was reportedly combative. When officers arrived, the individual was calm, and he was ultimately transported for treatment.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of Monroe Street at 8:19 p.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that men were jumping into wooded areas when cars passed them. Officers spoke with the men who advised it was a matter of horseplay. Officers did not observe any suspicious activity and the males were sent on their way.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fifth Street at 8:19 p.m. Monday for a barking dog report. Officers advised the owner of the complaint and she advised that she would bring the dog inside.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Cedar Street at 5:26 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a neighbor was parking their vehicle in the caller's yard and that this had happened multiple times. When officers arrived, the vehicle was moved, and the driver was advised to stay off the caller's property.
-- While speaking with a person at the police department for another incident, officers were advised of a person with a warrant out of Columbiana County. The person, William Stinson, 55, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to a person at the police department at 4:42 p.m. Monday for a reported property dispute. Officers advised the caller that the matter was civil, but a police report would be made.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department who advised that he and another man got into a verbal altercation at their apartment complex in the 500 block of Continental Drive and that the other man threatened him. Officers spoke with a third-party witness who advised the same, and additional witnesses who advised that the caller kept antagonizing the man and was yelling at him as he walked away. The caller, Ricky Crocket, 43, Salem, was cited for disorderly conduct, and the other man Ledel Vason, 44, Salem, was taken into custody for menacing and transported to the police department for processing then to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:06 a.m. Wednesday for an attempted breaking and entering. Officers checked the residence and did not find any signs of forced or attempted entry, and the caller advised that last Sunday his garage was broken into. However he did not contact law enforcement when he noticed. Officers advised the homeowner that the matter would be documented, and an extra watch would be posted at the residence.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday about a prior incident. When contact was made it was confirmed that the man, James Moore, 35, Salem, had an active warrant out of Jefferson County, and they were taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail to await extradition to Jefferson County.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dispute. A verbal altercation occurred between multiple people known to each other, and all parties were separated for the remainder of the evening.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday for a report of phone or internet harassment. The caller advised that his ex-girlfriend had made a report about him harassing her and contacting her and has since been contacting him by text. Officers spoke with the woman in question who denied the allegations and stated that she has him blocked. She was ultimately advised to have no further contact.
-- Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. Officers found the accident to have occurred outside city limits and provided traffic control until the proper agency arrived.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with all parties involved who advised that nothing physical had occurred and the incident was verbal only. Officers stood by while one of the individuals gathered her belongings and left for the day.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of West Sixth Street at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday for a domestic complaint. Officers spoke with two juveniles who advised they were having a verbal argument and nothing physical had occurred. Officers gathered the necessary information.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised they wanted a man trespassed from her property and did not want them contacting them. A trespass notice was filled out, and officers will notify the man in question that he was trespassed from the caller's property and to not have any further contact with her.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an irate man. Officers spoke with the caller who advised that her husband was in the early stages of dementia and wanted to drive and was refusing to get out of the driver's seat. Officers spoke with the man and were able to get him out of the driver's seat and into the passenger seat, and the caller drove the vehicle from the scene.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday for a neighbor dispute. The caller advised that the neighbor had cut down tree branches from her tree that was located on her property near their shared drive and would have had to come onto her property to cute the branches off the tree, and that this is an ongoing issue, and wanted to know her options for dealing with the issue. The matter was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
-- Officers were notified by Internet Crimes Against Children of the possible online enticement of a child at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday. Officers reviewed the information and found the possible victim was now an adult and the situation appeared to be a scam from another country. Officers will attempt to contact the alleged victim for follow up.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 3:58 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a person sleeping on the sidewalk. Officers discovered the person was in need of housing and was transported to the police department until further assistance for housing could be contacted.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of Prospect Street at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday for a report of criminal mischief. Individuals were seen on video throwing eggs at the caller's front door and placing a flag on the front porch. Officers will attempt to identify the people responsible for possible charges.
Perry Township
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Hartley Avenue at 10:34 p.m. Monday for a report of a person pounding on a residence's door. Officers checked the property and found nobody. Officers canvased the neighborhood and were still unable to locate any suspicious person in the area.
-- Officers took a theft report at the police department at 5:40 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that her purse was taken from a residence while a woman was collecting property from the residence. The purse has since been returned to the caller and it was found that no contents were missing from the purse.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 11:56 p.m. Monday to assist Salem officers with a traffic stop. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Elberon Avenue at 9:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of threats made to the caller while exchanging property with her ex-husband. The caller advised that her ex made threatening comments during a verbal disagreement while they exchanged property. Officers advised the caller to obtain a protection order and advised her of her legal options regarding the property that was left.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of Andrew Avenue at 6:37 p.m. Saturday for a report of threats or harassment. The caller advised an old friend she no longer wants contact with is still messaging and calling her repeatedly. Officers advised her to block their number and advised them to stop. Officers called the other party involved and advised him to cease all contact with the caller.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourteenth Street at 5:34 a.m. Saturday for a neighbor complaint. Officers advised them of the laws and regulations regarding noise and all parties were given copies of the noise ordinance.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of West Pine Lake Road at 6:22 p.m. Friday for a police standby while the caller gathered some essential belongings to last through the next several days until they could make arrangement to get the remainder of her things. Officers stood by while the items were collected.
-- Officers took a report by phone from a man advising that his Amazon order was never delivered at 1:49 p.m. Friday. The caller advised that FedEx delivered the package to Boardman, and officers advised the caller to make a report with FedEx
-- Officers on patrol located a vehicle parked at Cry Baby Bridge at 1 a.m. Friday. Officers warned all occupants of the vehicle for criminal trespass.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of West Pidgeon Road at 11:55 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that there was a woman walking East on West Pidgeon Road yelling at herself. Officers checked the area to the township limits but were unable to locate her.
Highway Patrol
-- Austin Coleman, of Main Street in Columbiana, Apt. 2, struck a deer with his vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. June 28 as he was traveling on state Route 14 in Unity Township.
-- Dane Breedlove, 16, of 8735 Union Ridge Road in Rogers was cited at 12:07 p.m. June 28 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance and being a juvenile traffic offender, after rear-ending an eastbound vehicle owned by Loretta Thompson, of Baden, Pa., that had been stopped in traffic on state Route 154 in Rogers.
Sheriff Reports
-- A man in the 23000 block of Georgetown Road, Knox Township, reported at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday that an unknown male arrived at his residence in a vehicle looking for a prostitute. He told the person to leave his property.
-- A Salem man called at 4:29 p.m. Tuesday to report a custody issue with his ex-wife who lives in Hanover Township. He was advised to contact an attorney.
-- A private property accident involving a 4-wheeler was reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday on Lisbon Road, Center Township.
-- Deputies responded at 2:56 a.m. Tuesday to Teegarden Road for one to be removed, with the caller advising his elderly father was having some mental health issues and showed up at his residence and would not leave. The caller said his father was wanting to make breakfast and socialize with him and his house guests. Deputies were able to encourage the man to leave with them and transported him to the residence where he's staying for now. Deputies dropped him off and confirmed that he did go inside.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 8:37 p.m. Sunday to King Road, Butler Township, for a domestic situation where a man was arguing with a woman. Matthew Berger, 46, King Road, Salem, was taken into custody on a warrant for another incident. He was charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking another man on the top of his head, causing injury, during a domestic on June 28 in Butler Township, a court affidavit said. Deputies had responded to the domestic. A pretrial was set for July 18 in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 2:42 a.m. Sunday to the Frola Motel on state Route 45, Lisbon for a domestic incident, finding that a woman threw bottles of pop and pizza at a man. He also said she punched a hole in the wall and knocked the bathroom door off of the hinges. She arrived back on the scene while deputies were there and was given multiple commands to turn around and put her hands behind her back, all which she ignored. She allegedly attempted to pull away multiple times while being handcuffed. Ariel Durham, 35, state Route 45, Lisbon, was charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
-- A domestic was reported at 12:21 a.m. June 12 on Kevin Drive, Knox Township where two parties had been drinking and there was an argument over food being wasted. The two parties agreed to separate for the night and discuss things in the morning. Deputies were advised by both parties that there was no physical assault or threats made by either party.
