POLICE REPORTS
Perry Township
— Officers responded to Benton Road at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday for a possible domestic dispute with reports of shots heard. Officers found no signs of shooting in the area and spoke with all nearby parties.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday for reports of dogs being left out in severe weather. Officers advised the homeowner of the complaint and instructed them that the humane society may be called.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday for a reported custody dispute. The caller advised that her cousin was not allowing her visitation rights to her child. Officers explained that the matter was civil in nature.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday for a report of threats. The caller and her nurse aide advised their ex-husband had made threats toward her during a phone conversation, and officers reviewed the conversation and determined no threats were made. Officers advised the caller of her options.
— Officers responded to Circle K for a report of a suspicious person at 2:29 a.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that he was trying to find a ride but was not having any luck. Officers gave the individual a ride to a nearby friends’ home.
— Joseph Price Jr., 83, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his southbound vehicle on Michigan Boulevard failed to yield from a stop sign causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven westbound on West State Street by Donald Crewson, 66, Beloit, at 11:17 a.m. Tuesday. Both drivers were transported by EMT for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depot Road at 9:55 a.m. Monday for a report of a vehicle sitting on the side of the road after striking a coyote. Officers checked the area but could not locate any vehicles.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:01 a.m. Monday for a report of breaking and entering. The caller advised that no damage was done to the property, but animals were let out of their cages and medication was taken with the back door left open. The caller was compiling a list of medications taken and a list of former employees was provided.
— Aaron Sublett, 58, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his southbound vehicle on state Route 45 struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Marta Bixler, 26, Alliance at 5:31 p.m. June 24. No injuries were reported.
— Officers responded to the Columbiana County Humane Society at 3:25 p.m. June 24 for a report of a man attempting to retrieve his dogs that were seized. Officers spoke with the person and advised them that without documents from the court returning custody to him, he would not be able to take ownership. The man and his wife were warned from the property and advised not to return until the matter had been before the court.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Pidgeon Road at 3:09 p.m. June 24 for reports of vandalism. The caller advised that sometime between 10 p.m. and 1 p.m. all four tires on his car were punctured. Officers documented the damage and will be investigating the incident.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Plymouth Place at 2:08 p.m. June 24 for a speak with officer report. The caller advised he’d gone to his mother’s residence to pay some of the bills and take care of a few things, and that he’d gotten into an argument with his mother, and she walked to the neighbor’s house. The mother has signs of dementia and sometimes has problems understanding things, and officers spoke with her and assured her that her son is just trying to help her. The mother advised that they just did not like the caller getting upset, and officers spoke with the caller before he left the residence.
Salem
— Officers assisted Leetonia officers with a possible impaired driver by conducting a breath test at the police department at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday. When Leetonia officers arrived with the driver, an intoxicated woman who was the passenger of the vehicle was also present. While attempting to conduct the test the woman, Sydney Panza, 26, Beaver, Pennsylvania, was becoming disorderly, eventually pushing an officer and then kicking the officer attempting to handcuff her. Once securing Panza, officers transported her to the Columbiana County Jail charged with assaulting a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony.
— Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of theft. The caller advised that while her vehicle was parked at a business her trailer hitch was stolen off of her truck. Officers contacted the business for video and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the area of Benton Road and West State Street at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the area of Georgetown Road and West State Street at 8:41 a.m. Wednesday for a reported reckless operator report. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man and woman hanging around behind the business. Officers advised them of the complaint, and both advised they were just walking through the parking lot.
Lisbon
– An officer responded to the 200 block of Sherman Street at 9:53 p.m. June 27 in reference to fireworks being set off. The individuals setting off the fireworks were advised of the ordinance prohibiting fireworks.
– Officers responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street at 8:04 p.m. June 27 where a resident reported his girlfriend had struck him on the leg with a radio antennae after returning home to find the radio broken. The resident did not wish to press charges and the girlfriend had already left the home.
– Officers responded to the 300 block of West Pine Street at 2:38 p.m. June 27 where a resident reported having a protection order against a man who was just at her residence. Officers found that the protection order had not been served yet and the resident’s other claims of personal property were civil in nature
– Michael Gasaway, no age or address listed, was charged with OVI, and his passenger, Sarah Jakacki, no age or address listed, was charged with carrying a concealed handgun following a traffic stop on state Route 154 near Bluff at 11:18 p.m. June 24.
– Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Beaver and Market streets at 9:39 p.m. June 24 in reference to a reckless operator report and found the caller was the individual who had initiated a road rage incident.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of Sherman Street at 12:22 p.m. June 24 where a resident reported both of her vehicles had been scratched on the passenger sides and believed her neighbor’s children were responsible, but was unable to prove it.
