County Sheriff
-- A woman on East Lake Road, Hanover Township, called at 10:56 p.m. Saturday about fireworks going off. The fireworks were not going off at that time, but she wanted a report on file.
-- A private property accident was reported at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Black Road, Madison Township, involving a 4-wheeler.
-- A woman on state Route 164, Washington Township, reported at 6:28 p.m. Friday that she wanted her son removed from the property, noting he does not live there. Upon deputies arriving, they found he had injured himself by falling before they got there. Highlandtown EMS and Lifeteam EMS were on scene and Lifeteam EMS transported him to East Liverpool City Hospital. He was advised by his mother that he is not permitted on the property.
-- A Madison Township man on East Liverpool Road reported at 5:45 p.m. Friday that his cell phone was hacked.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 5:43 p.m. Friday to U.S. Route 30 at Trinity Church Road, Hanover Township, to check the welfare of a man walking who appeared to be assaulted. The deputy checked the area, but had no contact with anyone.
-- Deputies at 5:38 p.m. Friday assisted St. Clair Township police with an investigation that involved a person on state Route 46, Fairfield Township.
-- A welfare check was requested at 10:59 p.m. Thursday on Forbes Road, Madison Township. A deputy spoke with the person who was with family and was fine.
-- A man on Hadley Road, Unity Township reported at 10:24 p.m. Thursday that his son took a bicycle out of the garage. He had paid half the cost. He was told to contact an attorney.
-- A deputy at 7:43 p.m. Thursday assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an accident in the 27800 block of Buffalo Road, West Township.
-- A Franklin Township man on Foundry Hill Road called at 3:15 p.m. Thursday to report a burglary at his residence.
-- Youngstown and Southeastern Railroad personnel reported at 3:03 p.m. Thursday that people were trespassing on the railroad property on Darlington Road, Middleton Township and climbed up on a train, releasing a hand brake and damaging it. The incident was recorded on video surveillance.
East Palestine
-- Officers responded at 6:09 a.m. to East Martin Street to a report of criminal damaging on Wednesday. The complainant reported that tires had been slashed. Officers took a report.
-- Officers responded 6:29 p.m. on Tuesday to East Martin Street for a welfare check. Officers made contact with the man who was then transported to a local hospital. No additional information was provided.
-- Officers responded at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday to Wood Street to a report of a neighbor's dog barking and running loose. Officers found the front door open at the scene and it was later determined someone had entered the house without permission.
-- Officers responded at 12:01 p.m. to assist the Columbiana County Dog Warden on a welfare of animals at a residence at East Martin Street. The owner was cooperative and two dogs were removed from the property.
Patrol
-- Maurice D. Clay, 35, of Calumet Park, Illinois, was cited at 12:52 a.m. July 10 in Washington Township for a marked lanes violation, after he was driving his tractor-trailer northbound on Oak Grove Road and went off the road while negotiating a curve, striking a sign and guardrail.
Columbiana
-- Karen J. Meek, 81, was cited at 7:27 p.m. Saturday for a red light violation and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after a traffic stop on North Main Street. As a result of the traffic stop, a request for driver's license recertification form has been filed and will be submitted to the BMV.
-- Sloan Doni, 35, of Youngstown was cited at 2:27 a.m. Saturday for driving under suspension after a reported suspicious vehicle complaint in the area of West Southern.
-- Odie J. Bacorn, 42, was arrested at 4:29 p.m. July 18 on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. He was transported to county jail without incident.
-- A city patrolman took a report at 1:42 p.m. July 17 at Columbiana Manor Apartments about possible telecommunications harassment.
-- Drake A. Schmidt, 18, was cited at 9:10 p.m. July 16 with reckless driving on private property after being observed driving erratically around Firestone Park.
-- Robert E. Hupp and Melissa S. Hupp both were arrested at 7:49 p.m. July 16 on charges of domestic violence in the first block of West Park Avenue.
-- A garbage truck took out a power line at 1:21 p.m. July 16 in the Camelot Apartments' parking lot.
-- Shelly W. Schuster, 52, of Pittsburgh was arrested at 10:07 p.m. July 15 on charges of OVI and speeding on North Main Street. She also was found to possess a bulk amount of suspected marijuana during the investigation, and additional charges are expected following receipt of BCI lab results.
-- Sara Huertas, 50, was cited at 8:11 p.m. July 15 in the 100 block of South Elm Street for her dog being at large.
-- Police took a report from a local business at 8:51 a.m. July 15 on station that has been receiving negative Facebook posts from a client.
Leetonia
-- An open burning complaint was received at 9:29 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Pearl Street.
-- Welfare check was requested at 1:26 p.m. Friday for a 400 block of Columbia Street address, as the woman's case manager hadn't been able to reach her client for three weeks. The officer arrived on site and found her standing on back porch. She was fine.
-- Officers responded at 11:48 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Spruce Street along deputies from the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office and Columbiana police. Law enforcement surrounded the residence, after receiving a call regarding a suicidal male who they eventually reached via phone. The male subject had been arguing with his ex via text. Eventually he exited the residence with his hands up, was checked for weapons and eventually consented to be transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
-- Dispatch asked an officer to respond at 9:36 p.m. July 16 with the fire department for an alarm drop at the Horizon Home, 167 High St. Residents had evacuated the building, No smoke or fire was seen.
-- Police investigated a 911 open line in the 100 block of Park Street. Upon arrival, a neighbor speculated that it might have been accidental as his grandchildren had gotten to his phone.
-- A suspicious vehicle complaint was investigated at 6:23 p.m. July 16 in the first block of Hazel. Upon police arrival, no vehicle still was there as described.
-- Jerrad Lucas Rydarowicz was arrested at 4:51 p.m. July 16 on a charge of criminal trespass, after allegedly kicking the front door of a Spruce Street residence. A witness videotaped the incident, in which Rydarowicz was unsuccessful with making forced entry. There was no damage to the front door. Police took Rydarowicz into custody at his residence with no further information provided.
-- A female resident in the 400 block of Sleepy Hollow reported at 3:24 p.m. July 15 that her ex-husband was on his way to retrieve property at the residence, where he is not supposed to be. Both parties were advised it was a civil matter and to contact their respective attorneys.
-- Jennifer Paskali-Sekerak, 424 Sleepy Hollow, was charged at 8:22 a.m. July 15 with telecommunications harassment.
-- Jennifer Paskali-Sekerak, of 424 Sleepy Hollow, was arrested at 9:51 a.m. July 17 on a charge of menacing by stalking, after a Center Street woman called dispatch to say Sekerah was driving up and down her street with her cell phone outside the car window filming the victim and Sekerah's soon-to-be ex-husband, who was standing in the yard.
-- A suicidal teen, distraught over being told to vacuum his bedroom, was pinkslipped by police, after his continued threats and violent behavior at 3:32 p.m. July 18.
-- Three fake $10 bills were found in the Dairy Queen parking lot at 7 p.m. July 17 by a police officer. They each had the same serial number and read "Motion picture purposes only. It is not legal tender."
-- Police responded to an alarm drop at 12:13 p.m. July 18 in the 1300 block of Beeson Mill Road. Upon arrival, they found a garage door open. Upon inspection, it appeared someone was there working.
Perry Township
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pidgeon Road at 5:25 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil complaint. The caller advised that an excavation company the neighbor had hired crossed over property lines and removed a large section of woods behind the residence. Officers informed the caller that the matter would have to be handled in civil court.
-- Joshua Lesack, 30, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her southbound vehicle on Cunningham Road failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle driven southeast on state Route 344 by Renee Guy, 27, Leetonia, at 11:01 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 11:41 p.m. Saturday for a report of a possible domestic dispute. Officers found that Dustin McMillian had pushed the other party to the ground then placed his hands around her throat but had left prior to officers' arrival. Charges are pending.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:28 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man that returned to his ex's residence to retrieve his property. Officers arrived and found the man had left prior to their arrival.
-- While on a call in the 400 block of Benton Road at 3:53 p.m. Saturday they were informed the caller had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office for a protection order violation. Officers placed the person, whose name was not listed, under arrest and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 3:53 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man hearing voices telling him to get out of his house. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who advised that while in his apartment he could hear voices telling him to leave and to get out. Officers searched the apartment at his request and confirmed nobody else was inside at that time.
-- Officers responded to Brookdale Senior Living at 9:13 a.m. Saturday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers ensured the caller did not need emergency services and spoke with the caller, who was going through emotional distress and wanted to report that her 170-year-old parents were fighting. Officers spoke with the nurses at Brookdale who advised they would provide the caller with the services she needed.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 10:14 p.m. Friday for a reported noise complaint. The caller advised a neighbor's car alarm had been going off for a while. Officers were unable to contact the vehicle's owner but made sure nothing was broken or stolen.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue and U.S. Route 62 at 11:20 a.m. Friday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers searched the area for the vehicle but were unable to locate them.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Pine Like Road at 9:57 a.m. for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that he and a coworker had gotten into a verbal altercation earlier in the day. Officers discussed the matter with the caller who refused to file charges and took the report. Officers had the caller complete a refusal to prosecute form.
-- Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:08 a.m. Friday located a suspicious vehicle in a business parking lot. Officers found the vehicle to be unoccupied and secured.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 11th Street at 4:46 p.m. Friday to assist Salem Officers on a juvenile call. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
-- Officers responded with the fire department and EMT to the 400 block of Springdale Street for a one-vehicle accident. Officers found a vehicle driven by John Burlini, 44, Poland, went off the roadway and struck a tree. Burlini showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody charged with OVI and cited for reasonable control and released to his significant other.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to report a stolen bulldozer. The caller was unable to make contact with the person who rented the equipment, and the item was entered into LEADS. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 12000 block of West Pine Lake Road at 10:52 a.m. Thursday for a report of a damaged mailbox. The homeowner advised that their neighbor had seen a vehicle in their yard the night prior at around 10:30 p.m. and the driver had advised him they'd swerved to hit a deer and the neighbor did not realize that the mailbox had been struck and a truck hauling trailer had picked up the vehicle. They also advised that there was a Goshen Township police officer on scene. The Goshen Police District advised the mailbox, which was heavily damaged and lying on the ground, was in Perry Township's jurisdiction.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 12:34 p.m. for a wellness check. Officers were able to speak with the person in question who advised they were fine.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that there was a construction vehicle parked close to the intersection. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source of the complaint.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:32 a.m. Tuesday for a report of juveniles riding dirt bikes up and down the road in the above area. The caller advised that they do so every weekend all day long and that they are not street legal, and he is worried that something is going to happen to them. He requested an extra patrol of the area on the weekends.
-- Officers were made aware of a housing issue at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday and notified the housing department of the issue.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday at the request of the fire department. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 7:14 a.m. Tuesday for a report of accidental damage to a vehicle. The caller advised that his neighbor had been repairing his cement sidewalk and his vehicle had been splashed with cement. Officers took photos of the affected area and advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:04 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a stolen bicycle. Officers collected the bicycle owner's information but were unable to identify the suspect.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man that was bit by a dog. The owner of the dog had them tied to a post while she was inside of the store and the man was walking by store when the dog was said to have bit him in the back of his leg. The man refused medical attention and just wanted the incident reported. The owner was advised not to bring the dogs and have them tied up while inside of the business per the employees.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the caller outside the residence who advised that the person in question had been striking another person. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that the person in question had been drinking and was trying to kick the third person out of the residence and they requested the phone that they pay for back, which was refused. The person in question then got on top of the third person striking him, once they were free the third person attempted to walk away but the person in question was grabbing at their leg and then threw a steel toed show at the third person, striking him in the torso. The person in question, Elizabeth Looper, was taken into custody for domestic violence and transported to the police department for processing prior to transportation to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of West Perry Street at 12:39 a.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. Officers checked the area and spoke with the caller, but nobody was located.
-- Officers responded to the area of Waterworth Memorial Park at 8:21 p.m. Monday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers spoke with the juvenile driver and advised them of the complaint.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 7:45 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with both parties and the male half, John Hamilton, 36, Salem, was taken into custody for domestic violence and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of North Madison Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Monday for a noise complaint. Officers advised the resident of the complaint who was not being loud, and officers could not hear any loud music coming from the residence.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 6:03 p.m. Monday who advised that on Saturday night she'd been hit by a black sedan. The woman did not know the vehicle make nor have a plate, and officers collected the information, and the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Cunningham Road and Bentley Drive at 3:05 p.m. Monday for a two-vehicle accident, and while investigating, a woman, Virginia Perkins-Tidd, 69, arrived and began to have a verbal dispute with one of the involved parties. Tidd was instructed multiple times to cease her actions and return to her vehicle or she could be arrested, but refused to do so, continuing to cause problems and telling officers to arrest her. Tidd was then placed under arrest for obstruction of official business and Tidd continued to struggle with officers and was further charged with resisting arrest. Tidd was transported to the police department for processing a released on a personal recognizance bond.
-- Mackenzie Baker, Salem, was cited for reasonable control after her northbound vehicle on Bentley Drive slid on wet pavement striking a vehicle driven north on North Cunningham Road by Daniel Holloway, Salem, at 3:02 p.m. Monday.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 2:36 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who was just upset over personal matters. He advised that he did not want to harm himself and would call if he needed any other help.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:13 a.m. Monday for a wellness check. The caller advised that she had not spoken with her adult son in several days. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence and did not observe any vehicles in the driveway.
