-- A Canfield man reported at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday that he owns a property on Darlington Road, Middleton Township, and someone has been trespassing inside one of the buildings due to prescription bottles, birth certificate, child support papers and domestic violence papers being found on the property. No forced entry was made. The building has no doors on it.
-- Leetonia police requested assistance at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Fork Road, Fairfield Township, to speak with a person involved in a breaking and entering report in Leetonia. While en route, dispatch advised the deputy to disregard the call.
-- A woman on Orange Street, Knox Township, reported at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle stopped by her residence and a male and female inside the vehicle were arguing, then the male and a small child got out of the vehicle and walked into the tree line. A deputy checked the area, but had no contact with the people.
-- Akron Children's Hospital, Boardman called at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday to report possible child abuse on Fairfield School Road, Fairfield Township. The report was sent to child protective services.
Salem
-- An officer checked on juveniles at Sebo Stadium at 9:02 p.m. Friday and spoke with their parents regarding the children playing in an area they were not allowed to be. The officer also warned several juveniles not to ride motorized vehicles on the track and stadium.
-- Officers responded with the fire department to a reported fire at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Euclid Street at 7:13 p.m. Friday. Officers assisted the fire department on scene and provided traffic control until no longer needed.
-- Thomas E. Larkins Jr., 41, Salem, and Traci J. Wells, 46, Salem, were arrested on active warrants for dangerous drugs after officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 4 p.m. Friday where a resident found Larkins sleeping in his garage. Larkins left before officers arrived, but officers located him a park with Wells. A second resident arrived and said there was no issue with the Larkins and Wells being at the home, and officers advised both residents the matter is a civil one.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:29 a.m. Friday where a resident reported a known individual had made several purchases with her bank card without permission. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 1600 block of Fairview Avenue at 9:24 a.m. Friday for a person to be removed and a possible assault. Officers spoke with the complainant who wanted the person in question to leave her house, advising an assault took place during the previous night. The person in question admitted there had been a dispute, but said nothing physical occurred. He was advised he had to leave, which he said he understood.
-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday about a report of suspicious activity in the 600 block of East Sixth Street. Information was collected and the matter will be investigated.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 2:24 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a juvenile. The juvenile's girlfriend from out-of-state advised that her boyfriend may have taken too much medication. Contact was made at the residence with the juvenile and his guardian. He advised that he was fine and only took his prescribed medication. First responders and EMT checked the individual and a refusal for treatment was ultimately signed.
-- Officers responded to the 1800 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:51 p.m. Monday for a report of a neighbor allowing her dogs to be loose while outside. The dog in question is reported to be vicious and the caller is concerned for her safety. Officers spoke with the owner, and she was advised of the complaint and the leash laws.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 9:47 p.m. Monday for a reported theft. The caller advised her wallet along with personal papers inside was stolen from a business. Video evidence of the theft was obtained by the owner of the business. The necessary information was gathered. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of North Madison Avenue at 7:57 p.m. Monday for a reported neighbor dispute. Officers spoke with both parties about a neighbor allegedly taking a child's football and not returning it, stemming from an earlier report. The football was ultimately returned to the kid. A parent was permitted to take photos of a pool which had been reported earlier as damaged. All parties were advised to stay away from one another for the evening.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that several juveniles damaged the structure support rods of their pool. Photographs were obtained and possible charges are pending.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Pershing Street at 6:23 p.m. Monday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that her ex-husband and one of his friends were text messaging her. She wanted it to stop. The caller provided contact information for both individuals who were contacted and advised to cease contact with the caller. Charges for telecommunications harassment could be filed if the problem persists.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:09 p.m. Monday to speak with the involved parties regarding a lawn mower. The caller advised that he came to the location after responding to a Facebook Marketplace ad about the mower. It turned out to be the caller's stolen mower which had been reported to the Columbus Police Department nearly two months ago. The caller provided paperwork verifying the mower was his and it was returned to him. Additional information was gathered on how it was obtained.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:27 p.m. Monday for a reported neighbor dispute. The caller advised the man living next door to his residence was throwing trass onto his property. Officers spoke with the neighbor, advising him of the complaint, and he picked up the trash off the caller's yard.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of Southeast Boulevard at 11:03 a.m. Monday for a reported criminal damaging complaint. The caller advised someone had thrown a glass bottle at an office window, breaking the window. Photos were taken and a report was made.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 8:36 a.m. Monday for a report of a vehicle parked in a private lot that needed to be moved for pavers. The caller wanted to know who owned the vehicle and after a brief investigation officers found the owner of the vehicle was deceased and the car was towed from the property.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 900 block of West State Street at 12:03 a.m. Monday for a reported theft. The caller advised he placed his clothes in the dryer and left the building. His clothes were missing when he returned. Officers will review security footage from inside the building.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 9:15 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute over a cat. The caller advised her neighbor's cat had been coming onto her property and she had been feeding it. The owner of the cat and other neighbors were coming onto her property and threatening her over feeding the cat. All parties were advised to stay on their own property. The owner of the cat was advised to keep the cat inside. The owner advised he would do so and that he was moving within the next two months so it wouldn't be an issue.
-- Officers spoke with two women at the police department concerning a dog matter at 8:19 p.m. Sunday. One of the women advised that she had just picked up a dog in Youngstown to keep as a family pet. After bringing the dog home decided they no longer wanted it after some safety concerns. They stated they were advised by the Humane Society to drop the dog off at the police department. Officers advised the woman that the police department was not a place to drop off their pets if they decided they did not want them. They were advised to take the dog home for the evening and try to find other avenues for the dog the following day.
-- Officers responded to the parking lot of a business in the 1800 block of East State Street at 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a vehicle was parked but running and the driver was unconscious with her hand in her food. Officers spoke with the woman, who refused medical attention. Officers detected an odor of alcohol from the woman, who advised of drinking earlier in the day. Officers asked her to step out of the vehicle and the woman, Julia Soules, was arrested for physical control and offered a breath test at the police department. She agreed, which returned a blood alcohol content of .087. Soules was cited for physical control.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:52 p.m. Sunday for a report of a small child locked inside of a vehicle. Officers were able to gain entry of the vehicle. Due to the circumstances officers called for first responders to check on the child.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 11:21 a.m. Sunday regarding a neighbor dispute. The person advised their neighbor accused them of stealing his cat, and that all he did was leave a bowl of food outside the residence to feed the neighborhood cats. The caller was afraid that something may happen to one of their vehicles and wanted a report on file.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 6:08 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic in progress. The caller called 911 and the dispatcher could hear yelling in the background. Officers spoke with both parties involved who advised the argument was verbal in nature only.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of West Pershing Street and Georgetown Road at 12:32 a.m. Sunday observed a vehicle being driven by a man with a suspended license and conducted a traffic stop. The man, Clinton Scott, 46, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension. The vehicle was towed by Davidson's Towing.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 12:25 a.m. Sunday who was requesting help. The man advised that he was seeing zombies and that they were following him. The fire department and EMT responded and transported the man to the hospital.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers advised there was a man slumped over in a wheelchair. Officers did not observe anyone slumped over in a wheelchair in the area but did observe a man in a wheelchair using a weed whacker.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue at 6:53 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office and Perry Township officers in making contact with a city resident. Officers were able to speak with the person and advise them of the complaint.
-- Officers responded to the area of Homewood Drive and Home Circle at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person with a backpack pushing a bicycle. Officers checked the area and surrounding streets, but the person apparently made it to his destination prior to locating him.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday for a reported neighbor dispute which has been ongoing for the past few days stemming from a damaged property report that had previously been filed. The involved parties were continually arguing over the previous report which was being handled through the department and all parties were advised to stay away from each other and given disorderly warnings due to the constant problems.
-- Officers responded to the Salem West Health Center with the fire department and EMT at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday for an incident involving a man being required to go to the hospital for a psych evaluation. Officers stood by until he was transported by EMT.
-- Two men got into a verbal altercation behind the police department at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday. Officers separated the men and sent them on their way.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. The driver of a tractor trailer turned onto East State Street from North Lincoln Avenue and struck a light pole, scraping paint off of it before continuing westbound on East State Street out of the city. Photographs of the damage were taken, and the driver was later identified, and insurance information was obtained.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of West Tenth Street at 12:01 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check on a man. Officers spoke with the man who advised that he needed help and wanted to go to the hospital. EMT transported the man to the hospital.
